@BluesKid120 apparently I do as well! This is all new to me. So the proper application of this technique is essential to the kind of music I play. Just had to know how to perform it properly. And now I know because of this lesson.
@Guitartricks i looked up a Guitar Pro version of a song and it shown in the tab you have to pick slide on the 12th, 10th, 7th and 5th fret of the E string how do you do that?
@markopher16 Not a stupid question. It doesn't matter but some pics will sound differently than others. Also, plastic pics will get groves cut while nylon pics wont. -Neal
@NinjaAoE F# power chord, 2nd fret. When you lift the left hand, let your fingers lightly touch the strings as your right hand keeps the rhythm going: "chucka chucka"
Your channel is freaking awesome! I just got my first electric guitar today(I've been playing acoustic for two years) do you have any tips on stuff on electric that's radically different form acoustic?
@Guitartricks really? i'm gunna try that! thanks for the help and great videos! they help me alot especially the one with using the little bread tir thing for strap cus on my acoustic it always comes off but not anymore! thanks you rock!!
Wow ! Leave the guy alone ! " can u do lesson on this ? can u do lesson on that ? "
If u want to learn to play u better pick up ur guitars . Watching lessons all day long wont help you . But , if u play all day long , u will find this useful .
Hey I'm 15 years old i'm from Morocco =) (If you know the country LOL) your videos are really good but not for those who don't haev electrics guitar like myself so I was wondering if you can put a video of classical guitar lessons ???
I've seen guitarsts follow the pick scrape with sliding thier hand on the strings from the fret at the pickups down to the first fret. It's a cool sound, but I'm wondering if they are putting pressure on the strings as if to fret them, or lightly touching the strings to dampen them. I tried to do this but can't seem to get it right. Anyone know how they do this?
awesome lesson, ive seen alot of ppl scrape on just the low e, me included. could you do a lesson on like three ways to improve your guitar playing please, that would be dope diggity fresh!
Cool. I've now how it's done for a while, but not the right technique. I could never get it right. This is an excellent breakdown of the technique.

@Guitartricks ive been trying to scrape but i keep getting this weak sound similar to 1:25 should i be pressing the pick harder or more distortion?

^^hey Neal, can you please tell me what is the amp setting to produce a nice pick scrape sounding? thanks a lot if you tell me =)

do you mute the strings with your left hand, or have certain chords/shapes, etc. when you start sliding?

Does the thickness of a pick affect the sound of the pick scrape?
tenhundredkills 4 months ago
@tenhundredkills not too much.
Guitartricks 4 months ago
@Guitartricks well... thinner ones are amazing but they get destoryed the thinner they are... like a 1mm or .8 mm is the best
knutdude 3 months ago
@tenhundredkills ir does. it its too thick then you wont be able to scrape.
bullshitproof 3 months ago
@bullshitproof How thick is too thick? I'm using 2.0mm picks and can make some great sounding scrapes. Last I checked, 2mm is a pretty thick pick.
tenhundredkills 3 months ago
@tenhundredkills been playing guitar for 23 years and always used medium picks. they work best for kickass sounding scrapes.
bullshitproof 3 months ago
@bullshitproof Cool! I'll take your word for it and try some medium picks, seeing as how you've been playing longer than I've been alive.

There's a different kind of pic scrape... :S
You can hear it on some Arch Enemy songs... It has also a high pitched tone... and make it moving the fingers of the left hand...
Anyone knows how to do that kind of pic scrape?

@Zaidejas1324 if you have a nylon, flexible pic, no. But if you have a stiffer, plastic type pic, the strings will leave little indentations in it.
Good thing they're cheap, eh?
