It is very naive to state that people want to destroy us for being successful. If you study the situation, you'll see that it is far more complicated than that. That's the problem with Fox "News." Fox news is a channel that is 100% Republican and they will always give you one side of a story, it's opinion. The other channels have a bias but they try at the best to back it up with facts. As for fox, they don't care about facts, it's just right wing opinion and if you don't see it, you're aether stupid or in total denial.
If you've ever studied the art of persuasion, you'd see more. Mix that ability with cash, a medium and an agenda and you've got a lot of power. As for the emotions of FOX viewers-I think all channels are aiming for that. They all want to evoke emotion from their viewers, but mostly evening commentators. Freedom of speech is a core. Once you start throwing out things like "The Fairness Doctrine" which would only silence 1 side, you're on a slippery slope to silencing all anti-gov't media & then 1 day when we really need it, no news but gov't news will be available. Weg: I can agree w/ that. News Media should be careful what they produce, but still, it's my firm belief that whether truthful, wrong or not, speech should be free. Unless it's hate speech that prompts someone to hurt someone else. It's the viewers job to make sure the info is correct. W/ the internet so readily available there's no excuse for someone to say they just "assumed it was correct" I never assume anything when I watch TV. I usually sit on the internet WHILE I watch tv & look it up.

FOX does like to incite, often encouraging a heightened state of emotion, which leads to less rational thinking. It's systematic. Look at some of these posts for examples of rational versus emotional thinking.
News should encourage the former and discourage the latter. Don't you agree?
Freedom or not, responsible broadcasting should always be encouraged and expected.

As for the emotions of FOX viewers-I think all channels are aiming for that. They all want to evoke emotion from their viewers, but mostly evening commentators. Maddow, Olbermann, Beck, Oreilly, Hannity, Behar, Nancy Grace, Lou Dobbs, Chris Matthews, etc. Maybe not so much Cooper but overall I think that is the goal of any news station b/c it keeps people coming back.

For that reason, I believe news organizations must strive to provide non-emotional, pertinent reporting and stories to the general public. It is their duty.

I'm not into politics, but fox news does get on my nerves once in a while (when it happens to be on), they push their opinion pretty hard. That being said, while the reporter shouldnt have been crowding the parade, i never heard the parade ask him to move off on to the curb. It's really just the two ideologies in conflict.
