@alex - hp always matters. Many supras have reached 240+mph in the 1/4 mile. It could take out the veyron easily considering they're over 700lbs more, have more working parts and friction, and the supra didn't have that bad of aero. Would kick ass with a splitter and defuser.

@Alexgotnicebody The veyron SS makes 1200BHP, the car in this vid makes 1300whp. If you do the conversion to BHP for the Supra it makes 1530bhp which is over 300 more hp. Bigger tires and that Supra is walking all over the Veyron.

@mynock05 I have a 1996 Supra turbo, and the 2JZ-GTE is a non-interferance engine. Nothing happens, valves can't collide with the pistons. However, I read somewhere the VVT-i version of the 2JZ-GTE is an interference engine, but I'm not 100% sure.

G = wide angle twin cam head and independently geared camshafts, T = turbocharged (twin-turbo in the case of the 2JZ) and finally E = electronic fuel injection. Why you hate the GTE letters so much? They are simply there as indicatiors.

Typical 2j dyno sheet, nothing on the low end. I guess that's why supras are the so called "king of the highway". They don't have the torque to pull out of the hole since it doesn't start making power until 6k rpm.

A Hemi isnt exactly 1000hp + beast. In fact I bet when youre idling / slow driving, youre only on 4 cylinders anyway - hardly a classification of driving a car with raw power, let alone demonstrating any useful experience for owning one. Also, a Jeep SRT is a 4wd, totally different class to a car in all respects, so it is a major difference.

@dre5491 No, it's ONE of the best engines ever made. Did you forget the M10 engine from BMW? They tuned one of those during the happy 80's to over 1400bhp in a 1.5 liter engine. The RB26DETT is also an engine that can withstand a shitload of power. I'd have to give my hats off for the germans though, since they designed the 2JZ GTE engine based on the BMW inline 6'es. Developed by Johann A. Krause Maschinenfabrik GmbH.
