  • whats the song to this vid thanks

  • even this morning for a very personal reason I watched it cos my dearest friend was with the crew...love you Suzy xxx

  • Aberdeen never got a flippin video and they pulled plug on us in 1995!! Mind you, we didn't so much go out with a bang as with a wheeze (like that sound you get if you step on a set of bagpipes) Recognise a few faces. Those were the days

  • I used to do so many red eye flights, and not being a morning person these guys and girls never failed to tame that grumpy, grunting neanderthal I was with their warm hospitality and banter! I've flown with a lot of airlines, and you know what they say familiarity can breed, but the British Airways crews are truly among the best in the world.

  • BA The Best Airline Of the World ;D

    Kiss from Italy ;D

  • Grazie.

  • @wonderfulsomeone Lavori con la British come Cabin crew?

  • @Istic97 Sì. Ma ora sono in pensione

  • What a great video - very moving. Such a shame that BA shut the regional bases.

You were all a credit to your respective bases.

    Well done & good luck.

  • what a lovely video very nicely made so sad that BA decided to close its Glasgow base, Scottish hospitality really is the best in the world...

  • Just caught up with this excellent and nostalgic video recently. Although my time at Glasgow predates most of those in the video, I did recognise Graeme Kerr. Having the same name I thought my first paycheck was very generous until it was discovered that I had got his by mistake. It was a great base and BA is all the poorer for its demise.

  • <3

  • Still makes the heart tug, wonderful group of people. Brought me back home to Glasgow for sad and happy times. Those 3 magic words "Welcome to Glasgow". Thank you and hope you all survived the changed that were forced on you. Very special folk xx

  • aww

  • What a lovely Video,I was welling up by the end. So many Lovely smiles.

I flew once from GLA south and Ba do it thier way, they do put the lowcos in the shade.

  • such a shamwe the glasgow crews had to go!!!! miss them all!!!!!

  • whats the name of song

  • Never saw this before but used to fly down to London with BA from Glasgow alot, you couldn't get nicer people. I wish you all the very best for your future, it's a shame to see such talented, professional and loyal people lose their jobs.

  • This is a Christian Song ?

  • a very well composed video.

    Thank you

  • thanks for the most delightful service. all the best xxxx

  • Hope all of you did get a position in an another base ! Great Video..so many memories...thx brothers and sisters from the sky...luv ya all

  • @sebastiancrew - Merci Beaucoup!

  • @wonderfulsomeone OMG this is the best cabin crew video i have ever seen here on youtube and trust me i have seen quiet alot............am so in love with BA now i really want to fly them now ,those crew were the sweetest hope they got flying again.

  • my papa was a customer service agent and knew all these people RIP the man at thi start

  • Great video with a perfect soundtrack.

Thank you to all the BA crew who brought me home safe and sound 6 times each year, it was always great to hear "Welcome to Glasgow".

"Cheerio" but wishing you all the best

  • @theboy247 Thank You!

  • this is very emotional!!! ive been flying for the past two and a half years and if im honest i cant imagine ever stopping! ;-)

  • That's so sad, I burst into tears while watching it...

  • thanks for making this video mate it was great!!! Where you ba glasgow cabin crew? What airlines are based at glasgow??

  • i have flown many times with these people, and i have to say as a British Airways staff, i have never ever come accross a more friendlier and fun loving cabin crew who work damn hard to make sure we have a good time, even just a short flight, it makes the little bit of difference, well done to you all, i hope you fly out of heathrow now, would love to meet you all agin, i am sure you wont forget me....well ..we will see....xxxxx merv

  • Who's singing that song?

  • Leon Jackson

  • I want to be British airways cabin crew, but, I live in Aberdeen...

So does this mean I have to move all the way to London if I want to fulfil my dream? It's meant to be BRiTISH airways :/

  • Sadly, yes.

  • what a shame !!!!gatwick will be next you see . why cant they bring it back to how it use to be when b.a where king of the skys and knowen as the best. dont get me wrong b a is still a good airline but they are fighting a losing battle . hope someone wakes up one day and sorts the mess out !!!!!!!!

  • @ba2775

    2 words Willie Walsh :(

  • I Choke each time I see this video.

What a great memento for the Glasgow based cabin crew.

Thanks for reminding me so poignantly of all those special people.

  • British Airways ha! what a joke, might aswell re-name it London Airways, good vid mate, shame they closed the base.

  • Thank you!

  • Great vid mate!! Why did they shut the base??!!

  • Simplification, which basically involves pulling all resourses back to London. "British" Airways mainline no longer employs any uniformed staff north of Hounslow. Sad.

  • What a blast … so many familiar faces. It’s not until you see this that you realise how many you remember. Some wonderfully nice crew get recognition here and rightly so. They made the trail from Glasgow to London and back much more bearable. Good luck to all of them!

  • Cabin Crew work hard, Pilots at BA are really thinking of their own right now. Walsh is not leading a team, just sticking to his ignorant leadership style. Wrecked human relations in BA, created a toxic culture of fear, created dreadful PR for BA. He needs to go in order to re instate sanity to this great airline. Harvard, this is how NOT TO LEAD YOUR TROOPS!

  • Thank You for that movie. It will be a great inspiration as my company is going to close our base in WAW at the end of summer...

  • Thank you Stewik. Sorry to hear your Warsaw Base is closing. Wishing you luck and success.

  • i used to work for ba in GLA, willie walsh should hang his head in shame, we had a great, dedicated and loyal staff, proud of what we did and delivered, sadly no more

  • British Airways should be renamed to Heathrow Airways as they cutting they routes from everywhere (but Heathrow!) and giving way to the likes of Ryanair and Easyjet.....

  • Wonderful video, lovely celebration of the great staff that were at Glasgow base. Music works perfectly, makes you feel quite emotional. Such a sad waste BA closed this base. Very Sad.

  • this video is just totally amazing! looked so fun yet sad 5*

  • That's a shame. They look like a great bunch to fly with

  • To all current and ex ba staff, the first person you see in this video was my father. BA was his life so to any of you who worked with him, i owe you my deepest gratitude cos you were a part of what made his life complete. He always said to me, if you love your job, you never work a day in your life. We can only aspire to that.

  • What happened with BA in Glasgow?

  • On Saturday 17th January 2009, despite intense public and political protest, British Airways closed it's Scottish Cabin Crew Base after forty years of operation. This film is a celebration of the people and personalities who remained professional and loyal to the company to the very end. Note: The final moments of the film show the historic arrival of the last ever Glasgow Shuttle from London Heathrow to be operated by a Scottish based crew

  • Hey @WonderfulSomeone - Thanks for the story. Wow - IT Really Touches My Heart... I am moved by the BA Crews' Sincerity. Wish Them All Best.

    Love.

    - From me

  • @wonderfulsomeone I was Cabin Crew with another airline based at NCL, i had to leave the profession due to injury after an accident. I was gutted, my whole life came to an end. This vid brings back so, so many good memorys and even brought a tear to my eyes. Thanks, made me feel human again. xxxxx

  • A touching story indeed. Glad you found the video inspiring. Hope things have improved for you and you are back, fighting fit.

  • @Craigatus Did he know a william mccartney

  • What a shame for all of the staff. I have flown with BA down to London from Glasgow many times and recognise some of the faces. The customer service was always superb. BA is a great airline but they often forget what makes it great - they loyalty and commitment of staff like the Glasgow cabin crews.

  • It seems terrible to me that staff with such a committment and pride are treated like they are worthless to an organisation, but the sad fact of reality is that few employers especially the big ones have any regard to staff members who give an awful lot to their jobs.

  • What a lovely tribute! Why do these airlines just not get it that happy crews make happy customers! I always loved small bases and the relationships they forge. Know that you have our love and respect here in the U.S. You are a class act and will shine in whatever situation.

  • A sad but lovely tribute to all the staff. How many staff took alternative posting with BA and how many left due to existing commitments etc in Glasgow?

They look a great bunch of people in a friendly environment.

  • A lot of crew just left because of obligations like families etc. a few went to eurofleet with the rest on longhaul- many are now thinking of leaving or have left since the trial- there was a reason they were all Glasgow based and for many it is just too much!!! Good luck to all of those crew who stayed, in the battles which they are about to fight, , those who decided to leave- I hope you are all enjoying life on the ground!! Thank you for your years of great service on the shuttle.

  • Look fun working there

I just hope in a few years it all picks up again so I get a chance of doing the job

  • What a fab video! Look like use had a blast! x

  • Very smart to strike before Christmas....means maximum inpact....time they start to respect the staff...keep your staff happy and biz will get better...you BA manager fools.

  • This is sad seeing this. My mother used to work for BA in manchester but that was sold off to flybe. Now she works for KLM which is a relief for her but what nibbles me is that I would love to have been cabin crew at manchester but it is gone.

  • Well im glad your mum gat wit a good company like KLM hope she is happy ! And if you want to be CC based out of MAN easyjet really arent thet bad and treat the crew very well !

  • @SMI05011459 I still work for BA and my sister works for Flybe and gets as good a deal as me. nothing wrong wih them at all.

  • @kem1880

I know theres nothing wrong with Flybe. I have applied but they are not currently recruiting for MAN base.

  • Great video, a few familiar faces!

  • That's my sister in the vid! Yee Ha!

So Proud of her and her fellow staff: and all the hard work for BA!

Please Support for the Cabin Crew!

    They Deserve it!

  • just seen my big sister in vid so proud of her!

Cmon' The Cabin Crew your Day Will come!

  • Such a nice Video!!

  • This is an amazing tribute. I can't believe it's almost a year since the base closed either. I was a B757 first officer in the late 80s and 90s, and loved operating the Shuttle with the brilliant cabin crew from my homeland! (Born in St Andrews). Now on the B777s - have kept my eye out for any of the ex-GLA team...but not had the pleasure yet :( Thanks for posting this fitting and well deserved tribute to what was widely regarded as the best team on the Speedbirds. All the best, Ian

  • Thanks Ian.

  • @speedbirdlhr: I hope you don't mind - I recently embedded your incredible video on my blog page - Ian-The Flying Scotsman. I still believe the GLA based crews were the friendliest, most professional and fun to work with I have ever come across during my 20 years with the Speedbirds...and I still remember them with affection - and I am not alone either. All the best once again, Ian

  • I don't mind in the slightest Ian. Go right ahead.

  • did they use 757s and 767s for glaasgow!:O:L

  • In the past, yes, 737s, 757s and 767s were used. Today, Glasgow Shuttle's are operated on A319, A320 and A321 aircraft.

  • I don't really remember many of the companies I worked for but I do the people.

  • The first reaction of nearly all the staff is to laugh and smile.

  • I have nothing to do with this industry but enjoyed it.

Staff are the real asset of any company.

  • ahh sad they ust to fly from bhx but they stopped that u do they not go from more airports in the uk

  • london or london lol

  • i love this video, its great.

i really want to work for british airways in the future. shame ba connect went from bhx :( x

  • i love it im from barbados i admire BA's cabin crew i think u carry ur selves so well there is no other airline i rather to c but ba......

  • wonderful.

  • where's the glasgow based cabin crew gone aft the closure of the base?

  • I'm watching this with a real tear in my eye :-( you guys were all wee smashers and I miss you heaps on the LHR-EDI commute:-(

  • Greetings to all formerly Glasgow-based cabin crew!!! Wonderful video and such charming colleagues!!! Come and join us ;-)....Lufthansa Cabin Crew Member.

  • Thank you for your comments Lufthansa Cabin Crew Member, and thank you for the invitation. Sadly, my flying days are now well and truly over. Ah... but what a fabulous time I had.

  • So sad to hear that you're no longer flying. Hope you have found something better to do with you time!! Aileen.

  • Thank you Aileen. x

  • i dont even know much about glasgow and ba im more of aeromexico...and i still got touched by the video...props.

  • this Video is soo amazing... I watch it over and over because its simply GREAT! Courage to all Flight Crew.. I

  • im ba lhr and this makesme cry every time i watch it.

  • nice presentation..nice job

  • My mum at 2:16.... Soo embarrinsing

  • Thank you Guys and Gals...I have always enjoyed working alongside many of you over the past 37 years of my career....you will be missed.

  • A great shame, some of the best crew were Glasgow based.

  • Shutting the glasgow base was the biggest mistake ba made. Thanks guys for wonderful service. You are the best, Travelled many times.

  • Think my first flight must have been with some of these crew, was from Heathrow to Glasgow back in 1994 when I was a very bratty seven year old! Do remember a very nice Scottish crew member who managed to calm me down!

  • So you're big 21 ? :P

  • TO ALL THE STAFF OF BRITISH AIRWAYS GLASGOW . of which there has been many over the years. a big thank you for your service and dedication , you were an absolute credit to ba and glasgow. and sadly missed .

  • 0:51 shes my auntys nebior

  • How sad, notnhing beats Scottish hospitality and BA chose to lose that!!! I work for Virgina nd al, I can say is they recognise the Scottish ouch there is a large number of Scots oin the fleet so egt going ex BA crew lol!!! x

  • I was shocked to hear Stewart had passed - I didn't know until I saw the comments here.

Currently on layover in Toronto Canada, I've had my crew in to see this wonderful video, and everyone of us has spotted someone we know - not a dry eye in the house!

From all of the crew of tonight's Speedbird 92 (especially both of us in the flightdeck), wishing all those who were based at GLA all the luck in the world, and happy landings no matter what you are doing,

  • :o}

  • This is a great video. I am Scottish, living outside the UK, and a huge BA fan. Where I am now, we have no Local Ba presence at all (IoM). Question is though, why are all so many deserting BA for cheap nasty EASYJETS and RyanAirs of the world !! Please lets supoort BA and drive them back to where they should be as the Bristish National Flag carrier. They had and still do have excellent staff, and give a fantastic service. Lets hope that they never get taken over by the Ryanairs of the world!

  • I agree and disagree.

Ryanair is a Nasty Bullying airline full stop. Cant stand MOL or what they do. I feel sorry for anyone who works for them.

EasyJet on the other hand care for the staff and have a really good reputation (or at least a far better one than Ryanair could ever dream off).

At the end of the day its all about there markets, and BA/EZY work really well in co-operation, where if FR could get its way it would be the only airline in Europe.

  • What's the name of the video's song?

  • The track was "When You Believe" by Scottish lad Leon Jackson.

  • thank you very much ....it was a wonderful video .......a little sad...but it was exelent

  • there aren't words, it's totally amazing!!!!

  • just an amazing video

  • top marks to the person who put this video together, very sorry to see the end of BA cabin crew at glasgow. It was wonderful to see my long term friend of nearly 30 years (stewart) included in your video, he often spoke of all the good people he worked with. God luck to you all

  • How lovely to see my cousin Stewart doing the job he loved so much .B A washis life and those who flew with him his extended family .Thankyou for the part each of you played in making all the years he flew mean so much to him .

  • Anyone could tell me who is the singer? Thanks, I know the song is When you believe, but I like it more this than the Mariah Carey version,

  • The track was "When You Believe" as you rightly pointed out, by Scottish lad Leon Jackson.

  • Thanks wonder, this is much better that the original sang by Mariah Carey

  • What a wonderful video. My uhcle, the first crew member eating his breakfast loved his job and was a highly regarded member of the crew. The music you've used for the video is wonderful and captures the essence of the video so well. Could you tell me who sings it? I think it is horrible that they have closed the Glasgow base, it was always wonderful to hear a Scottish voice on my way Glasgow from Montreal, Canada. Shame BA Shame!!!

  • Thank you for your lovely comments. The music is by Scots lad Leon Jackson with "When You Believe".

  • Thankyou. the video will be treasured by us all. I wish all of you the very best for the future. Flying to T5 won't be the same without the hope of seeing a face I know.

  • From my children and myself I want to say a HUGE thankyou to whoever put this video together as the first crew member is my husband CSD Stewart Aitken who sadly died March 2008. He devoted 35 years to Glasgow and would have been devastated at the closure of the base!! Thankyou so much for a wonderful tribute to all at Glasgow.

  • To whoever made this wonderful video, a HUGE thankyou from my family as the first BA crew shown was my husband CSD Stewart Aitken who sadly died last year. He devoted 35 years to Glasgow Base and would have been devastated by the closure of his second home!! Thankyou for the wonderful clip of him and other faces I recognise.

  • Thank you for your lovely comments Aileen. I couldn't've put the video together without including Stewart. He was so very dear to us and such a big part of the Base. The video was shown at the Base closing party in January and the reaction his image received was incredible to say the least. Needless to say it reduced a great many of us to tears. He is sadly missed but regularly in my thoughts. My love and best wishes to you and the family. x

  • I also came across this by chance, it was really nice to see my late Dad (Stewart, the first staff member you see, munching his breakfast!) I'm sure he would have loved to have seen this as he really loved the job and his girls (boys too I'm sure!), and wasn't impressed with the closing of the Glasgow base. Great video, nicely done.

  • i came across this video by chance and the more i watch it the more i can see the people behind the smiles.its heartbreaking to see people like this thrown onto the scrapheap to see shareholders and management pocket the savings.British airways seem to be in political meltdown at the moment and dont deserve to call themselves British to be honest.I can only hope the persons in the film moved onto bigger and batter things. thanks for the lovely video!

    fellow scotsman

    x

  • Thanks for the comments geebee. Very much appreciated.

  • its no longer british airways is it...

might as well call it English Airways now!

  • awesome!

  • What a video!! Truly amazing!! Well done.

BA are missing out on a big oppertunity. I myself live in Glasgow and me and my family would fly BA if only we could fly out of Glasgow to selected destinations. THEY ARE MISSING OUT ON A MASSIVE OPPERTUNITY!!!! I am sure that I am not alone and that nobody from Scotland can be bothered with the hassle of changing at Heathrow or Gatwick!

  • :o}

  • Beautiful video guys and I feel your pain. I work for United airlines and I'm on the edge to be furloughed. If it happens will be the fourth time in my life, my previous airline ran out of business....but keep your faith, when a door is closed, there's always a window. Wish the best

  • Fantastic video.

Its not British Airways now, they should be called LONDON Airways.

  • Very Very Nice video!

  • :o}

  • Lovely.. missing to flew again with BA

  • Flew with you guys many times when I was LHR Eurofleet - you always mothered me and I loved it!! Missing those days...

  • To all the lovely friends I once flew with at Glasgow, I hope the closing of the base opened up lovely new doors for all, for some new destinations, and for some a well deserved rest. All the very best. Lots of Love Susan Laing

  • This is fantastic testament to a hard working efficient team - as others have commented I also recognise a few of the faces and wish you all well, strange how British organisations that are known to be the best always ruin things.

  • On one occassion after the very recent death of a colleague I was thoroughly down in the dumps and a very nice CSD? asked me if I was ok - I just burst into tears, she dossed me up with alcohol wrapped me in a blanket and generally made me feel the most important man in the world for an hour. A fundamental of cabin crew is a spare capacity for others despite ones own problems. You definitely always got that with the Scottish ladies (+ gents!). Thanks again, - and I never forget a face!!! ;-)

  • Wow, what a great video. I'm a flight attendant with Air Canada, and know exactly what you're going through. After 30 years, Air Canada closed our Halifax base.

How wonderful to have stitched all these memories together!

  • Sorry to hear that ray. It's been tough but we are all good friends and helping each other through it.

  • Great video; best wishes to all BA staff from a very loyal customer.

  • Many thanks!

  • As a young wet-behind-the ears first officer in the early 90s, the team at what became Eurofleet Glasgow always made operating the Shuttle a real treat - even at 6am of a January morning! Everyone was a star!

This video shows the dedication, humour and professionalism of a wonderful team which Willie and Waterside's bean counters disbanded.

I am hoping I will see some of the old faces on the triple 7s on the WW fleet out of LHR - and also want to wish everyone all the best.

  • I posted this link on the Internet regarding aviation in Taiwan,

I often used British Airways, while I was studying in the UK last year. Also, I just went to Glasgow from Bristol in February, and I love the public announcement in this video. Thank you for making this video to share with us.

  • You're most welcome Robby.

  • What a splended video.

Would anyone know who the music track was by.

    Thanks.

  • Thank you for your kind words. The track was "When You Believe" by Scottish lad Leon Jackson.

  • I felt sad what I saw this video. Good luck !

  • A wonderful momento and tribute to a great bunch of crew, I wish I had something similar to remember my BA Cabin Crew career. BA never appreciates what it had until it's gone!

  • Fantastic video! Sweet ending.

  • Did many take up the LHR offer?

  • very touched video...what happen actaully? sorry..i don't really know what happen?

  • On Saturday 17th January 2009, despite intense public and political protest, British Airways closed it's Scottish Cabin Crew Base after forty years of operation. This film is a celebration of the people and personalities who remained professional and loyal to the company to the very end.

  • A great tribute to all.... a great video, saw a lot of familiar faces.

    Good luck all.

  • goodness me ... didn't think I would recognise so many faces here. what a great shame for both crew and passengers alike. take care guys!

  • This is so sad. This has just happened to the bmi cabin crew in manchester :(

  • An amazing tribute to all of the cabin crew from Glasgow. I recognise many of the friendly faces from the shuttle, it won't be the same without you! Good luck to you all in whatever you choose to do.

  • This is one of the most beautiful and touching videos I've ever seen. Like the collegue from Thomson, I'm Alitalia crew and I'd love to be part of BA. Hopefully...one day....

  • can anyone tell me what happened to them???

  • Like GreatCircle (we;re both Airbus captains btw), saw this video for the first time the other day. On the other side of the flightdeck door, without exception, we all miss the familiar faces we had the pleasure of operating with over the years. I hope we'll see you soon. This fantastic tribute captures the great personalities and dedication to a tee - and as a Scot myself, I could feel a lump in the throat as the door closed at the end.

  • sad day for the ba cabin crew at glasgow have fun guys and girls from ex cygnus driver

  • I just was referred to this video - and a fitting tribute to the wonderful lads and lassies who made Eurofleet Glasgow the excellent base it was. On behalf of all Speedbird and Shuttle flightcrews, we miss you. The skies are not the same. Sending you all...the very very best.

  • lovely tribute. im thomsonfly crew and would love to wok for ba, maybe my 6th attempt this yr. hehe

  • Wow !!

    great vid !!

Good luck to all those Cabin Crew and staff of BA Glasgow.

    x

  • LMAO .. 0:49 =D

  • What an incredible video! A fantastic tribute to all of the cabin crew who were based at GLA.

I've had the fun of working with you from time to time over the years & recognise many familiar faces & great smiles! You really did have something very special at GLA & it's so sad that BA have chosen to close the base .

Whatever you all decide to do, come south & fly from LHR or fold your wings & take on new challenges I wish you all the very best of luck!

    Bobby

    Eurofleet Cabin Crew LHR

  • Cheers Chaps Floods of Tears here :-( My Wife is Long Haul out of Heathrow. So Sorry that BA Has done this to you...Rob and Helen

  • Former LHR Pan Am and JFK United flight attendant. What a beautiful video you produced for all of your BA family! Obviously you were all so close and have many stories, tears and laughter that you shared over the years. The door closing at the end was such a sweet and sad "touch." Excellent job! The best to all of you as you fly to new horizons!

  • i will become a flight attendant soon i belive to the miracle ....n this vid i can see their frienliest service all crew smiling .....n full of joy n working as a family members i think

  • ThatS My MUM at 2:39

  • Thank you very much for the video!

It nearly mooved me to the tears!

Hope most of these ladies are still working as cabin crew!

  • i hopes so .. really waste when people couldnt see their talent in services ..hard ti find people that love to work with guest n sincrely doing that ...i just hope that they also will be a cabin crew again or at least a c.crew trainer....

  • very sad but good video

ba are so silly you look so fun and professional shame stupid ba did'nt keep it open

  • did you just pretty much fly glasgow to heathrow or did you go to other places from lhr or even gatwick maybe. shame to see you go. looks like it was a fun place to work. hope you have all found jobs.x
