  • It's nice to see education geared towards something useful. And that sounds like I'm being sarcastic, but I'm really not. Love the sound you chose by the way. nice and warm.

  • where can i get one

  • Could you please explain how you interface the Launchpad with the Sega Mega Drive and its sound chip?

    Chiptune Powah!

  • @richicc Hi there! Well, the launchpad is connected to a computer. The software on the computer is Max/MSP. The MIDI output from Max/MSP is then going to a MIDI interface that is connected to the SEGA Mega Drive.

  • @littlescale Thanks for your answer! The part that is still obscure to me is... how do you hook up a MIDI interface to the console? Does it have a MIDI jack? Is it a special cartridge you bought or a DIY hack? Thanks again!

    Have fun ;)

  • @richicc I built and programmed a hardware MIDI interface for the SEGA. I've also made the same for SEGA Master System, Game Gear, Atari 2600, Vectrex, C64 and a few sound chips as well.

  • @littlescale You rock, man. Seriously. Have you released your DIY hacks specifications as open hardware? It'd be pretty awesome, and loads of people will love you forever (me, for example :P)

=] Thanks for sharing and keep it up!

  • @richicc This technology was part of a PhD i finished at the start of the year. I graduate in September, after which I will release it.

  • @littlescale =]

    Cool! Congratulations and thanks!

  • I'm not trying to be a smart ass but why would someone want to play music on it. Is it just for fun i'm assuming?

  • @bunnym07 I like the SEGA Mega Drive sound chip, as do many other people.

  • Can someone please explain what I'm looking at. I'd really like to know.

  • @bunnym07 it's a Sega Mega Drive console, where the sound chip is Controlled By Novation LaunchPad Ripple Sequencer in real time

  • what the fuck am I looking at?

  • I have no idea what this is

  • Funky Minecraft music

  • Buen sintetizador , pero donde esta la megadrive?

  • I unsuccessfully tried finding info on the MIDI interface you built; help me out?

  • What kind of noise would a swastika make? Hmmm... I wonder....

  • That is COOL!!!

  • How's a megadrive fit into the equation?

  • @deanobro69 it's making the sound.

  • @littlescale How? I've got an old megadrive in the loft that I don't mind modding to work with the launchpad.

  • @deanobro69 He built a megadrive midi interface as well as other midi interfaces.

  • @littlescale midi connection to the game sytem? care to shed some light on the mod necessary? i would like to do it to my genesis

  • @deanobro69 By an emulator? or by the chip itself?

  • UGGGHHHHHHH RELEASE SMDMIDI!!!!!!

  • my kid would love this !

  • wheres the megadrive?

  • How are you doing the delay?

  • sounds cool, but it looks pretty arbitrary.

  • You're doing some amazing stuff with this device!

  • That thing is really awesome.

  • Brilliant
