  • I like BEP before Fergie. It was 'more real' if that makes sense...

  • I love BEP, they always wanted a slight pop style, most fake rappers (50 and every other gangsta rapper) deny that pop addition they fall into

  • wow lol apl looks jamaican lol i hope i spelled that right

  • 3:22 - 3:28

zomg i wish i could do that :o

  • these fools got some serious freestyle dance skills

  • Now this is Hip Hop, not that other garbage now ._.

  • Taboo looks like a yellow Fredro Star.

  • LOL

  • I Know i'm just a youngin' but i was raised with this type of music, the so called music 2day, iz just plain GARBAGE! some songs are moderately okay, but this is real music, not about money, luxieries, and worst of all women. where are the REAL MCs these days people?

  • Is there another music category for this type of music? Groups like Pharcyde, People Under the Stairs, De La Soul, etc. The wikipedia lists this as 'alternative hip-hop', which, like 'alternative rock', is vague and misleading. I thought this was called trip-hop but no...

  • I wonder how many times they had to clean that glass during the shoot.

  • That's what I was thinking.

  • Surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet but the lil ditty played on 2:31 sounds similar to So You Wanna Be A Boxer from Bugsy Malone.

  • I feel that the sample belongs to Slum Village or Tribe called quest.. it's their kind of feel to it..

  • The saddest fall from grace in Modern music. Im not exclusivley a hip hop fan, but when its done right, such as here, it can really be something special. Im sure these guys must no deep down the extent of their loss in credibility and display of talent. SAD SAD SAD

  • The background singer and the lady in the video is Kim Hill. She left the group in 2000 and wasn't "replaced" until Fergie joined in 2003.

  • what name girls singing in the video? mailed her long Vietnam?

  • LOVE BEP WHEN ITS FREE OF FERGIE.

  • YEah it is orta hard to beive they sed to be good hahaha . To be fair though , i don' t think you can blame Fergie for everything the other dudes wanted to go in that direction so they brought her in.

  • that's the BEP i know. back when people were calling them the tribe of west coast hip hop jazz...

  • back when they were dope as hell...

on that real dope hip hop

  • thats right!

  • Such a shame they've become what they are now.

  • they used to goooo sooo harddd

  • lol then fergie came and made them go pop main stream and BOOM music is no longer rough. =P But i agree man so hard before!

  • The old BEP is still in there, behind the scene. But yes, they are for the most part a mere shell of themselves.

  • Looks like John Meyer playing guitar during the dance session

  • that cuz it is haha

  • Damn, these mutherfuckers sold out.

  • there is nothing cooler than black eyed peas without fergie

  • I found this hilarious back in the day when I first saw this sticking their faces on the glass.

  • I forgot how great they used to be. It's depressing.

  • Ahhhh...

Nothing like pre-methhead pee pants "vocalist" BEP to chill you out.

  • Yeah, I remember the old Black Eyed Peas. And then I think it was Where is the Love? when I first saw Fergie, and I was thinking who is this white girl (not to sound racist). And then I started seeing her in all the videos, and I was trying to figure out why they would do such a thing. This is my favorite BEPs song!!!

  • man this is a great song. shame they sold out though!

  • BTW 2:01 is my fave! Uh Uh

  • it's terrible people don't like fergie in the group. Personally I also prefer the old BEP! i remember when buying singles was the joint.. I bought this ASAP!

  • Its not just fergie everybody is hating on b/c hey it was their decision to pick her for the group. I think everybody is angry b/c basically they lost their swagger to a commercialized pop fan base. We have enough shitty pop music. They sold out and they rather make songs for pop fans/retail stores now than go back to their roots. Whatever tho, i guess u gotta make money somehow.

  • They need to get Rid of Fergie

    She is so ridiculous

Maybe they can place a Pole on stage and she can dance up and down on it while old men toss dollars at her

Because truthfully she has no talent

  • Thank you thank you thank you

KIM HILL where she at now?!

  • Thats a good question. Didn't she release a solo awhile back?

  • Atban Clan ?

  • that was before this

  • Don't know why they thumbed you down, cause you are right, this is pretty much the Atban Clan. Eazy E changed their name and one of the original members was replaced later on.

  • this is the jam! black eyes peas sold out fuck fergie. they went from this to BULLLLLLSHITTT!

  • the end was the best. they was showin wat real dancin is!

  • stop the bullshit, this is good, and thats it.

  • i cant agree more with this. as soon as that broad jumped off they went all sugary fukin sweet and shit. but i guess they wanted mass appel and thought by lettin her in was the way to go bout it... fuk em. this tune, in fact the whole album was dope.

  • FERGIE KILLED EM.

  • the last part 2:34 to the end should be made into a song dat beat is fukin cold

  • isnt that john meyer playin guitar in the red shirt?

  • yea

  • Oh how the mighty have fallen. I pretty much agree they were MUCH better without Fergie. They seemed more like a group then, now it just basically seems like the Fergie show with BEP in the background.

  • in my op. i say fuck fergie. meth head fucking up hip hop. i can't believe these dudes sold out to fergie... i mean shit of all the ladies who rep'd hip hop they went with her?!?!?!?

ah whatever. i don't buy their shit anymore so i protest with my wallet

  • Amen, bro. Fuck Fergie indeed, the meth addicted trick-ass hoe.

  • I think they were better w/o Fergie.

  • FUCKING LOVE THIS JAM!

  • This was my shit!!!!!

  • This was their first cut I had heard like in 2000. Used to love this video cause they was rockin' the clubhead moves at the end. I was like yo these heads can rhyme and get busy too? I liked the first bird they had too more than fergie. She fugazy yo

  • I first saw this in 2002; this was the shizznit!!!

  • this was before fergie joined the group

  • BEP is soooooo much better without Fergie.

  • It's a guy group

  • thank you! ive been saying that for years

  • lmao, at 3:23 the guy starts doin kung fu

  • How do you know? It might be Tai chi, just really fast.

  • the beat at the end is the best the bep ever had. i actually have this single on wax. got it from a record store when they first came out. the guy who owned the store gave it to me to get my opinion and i never gave it back. got to be worth money, huh?

  • That beat is phenomenal.

The track they sampled was a Berry White cut.

  • paulinho da costa - love till the end of time

    frankie valli - grease

shuggie otis - aht uh mi head

  • I was talking about the beat at the end.

Standing in the Shadows of Love - Love Unlimited Orchestra

  • How come underground music has the most influential and have the greatest unknowns, yet the most famous ones who talk about cliches (bitches, money, drugs) get the most money and fame. Sure there are a few others that are true to real hip hop and keep it fresh, but the majority is stale rap. Black Eyed Peas were fantastic, and sure I still think they are good, but somehow I feel their too different from back then. They should atleast add some of their old roots into their new songs

  • What about 'Don't Lie' from their newest album? That song wasnt terrible from what i remember.

  • Impossible with Fergie around. Fergie's the focal marketing point of BEP now.

  • yeah....they went through a bunch of chicks till they found fergie

  • Pre-Fergie era Black Eyed Peas...much better than the new BEP

  • Loved this when it first appeared, still loving it now.....

  • i'm not gonna lie.. i truly love old school B.I.P., but they got big with Fergie.. i ain't hatin.. big up to those guys.. but my love is to the old school hip hop.. and this is it.

  • why are you guys haterin on her...? jst cuz she's awesome...

  • they were good before that bitch ruined them!

  • cause fergie is freakin awesome why u bein a damn hater

  • please can some answer this for me?

WHY IS FERGIE IN THE GROUP, WHATS HER PURPOSE!?

  • to replace kim hill

  • i knew that but why her?

  • SHE WAS THE CHOSEN ONE.

  • thank you obi wan. They were good but she helped them along with Justin Timberlake to crossover into mainstream. Sorry but aka white folks and thus the rest of the world. Not saying white folks didn't know who they were but any time you hear Diane Sawyer say she likes them.

  • Marketing focal point.

  • before they sold out to the white devil. i would do the same.

  • kool

  • After this Album, i didn´t like them anymore -.-

    good track

  • Fuck that. The objective is getting paid. Be proud and broke while i'm happy doing Wal-Mart commercials. Seriously though, as long as i'm not stabbing anyone in the back, you gotta get outside the box. I know a lot of people 'keeping it real' and 'not selling out' but peeps think folks like 50 sold out. Easy for us to judge from the fan's point of view. Gotta get that paper.

  • What happened to the objective being to make good music? Guess it went the way of good Woodstock and the Dodo.

  • The first CD was definitely the best one. They were true hip hop with some jazz.

they used lots of live instruments in their songs and the whole CD had a good vibe.

2nd Cd wasn't bad either, had DeLa on there and Charlie 2Na from J5. Newer stuff is all too commercialized. They need to back to their roots.

  • So true.

  • ESA RUBIA FEA LOS cambio

  • i ain't seen this since high school.

  • I can't wait for the new album The E.N.D

  • great song and video!

    what a moves!

  • fergie fucked up the group

  • Me gustaban más estos Black Eyed, me parecían más auténticos :/

I liked these Black Eyed so much more, they were more authentic.

  • I-LOVED-THIS-VIDEOOOO!!! This is the BEP I remembered. I was looking for this video and forgot the name of the song. My silly baby brother and I loved when their faces were smashed in the camera, aside from the fact that the song itself was hot! This is so cool!

  • i think they were waaay better without fergie,, even though they werent as successful

  • lovin this joint...

  • pre-fergie

  • Hell Yeah!!! That's the joint :)

  • this is the real BEP before the white girl joined and they sold out. Yall knew they used to do hip hop ?

  • lmao, yeah

  • They didn't sell out. The Peas are just a different end of the Hip Hop spectrum. They've always had a pop/indie influence. As true ARTISTS their sound has grown over the years & isn't repetitively stagnant like most of the "poppin' bub in the club" BS videos/songs we see & hear regularly. They still represent Hip Hop. I recall back when this video came out, aside from Busta Rhymes & Missy Elliot, Hip Hop hadn't been that creative in awhile. Their overall look was different from mainstream.

  • Don't forget the extreme amount of diversity they got going. It's a beautiful world.

  • I disagree, these guys are hypocrites. everything in The Hip Hop culture they were against they now represent, thus making them sell outs.

  • Well, if you really want to discuss "selling out," remember back when doing major commercials (a la MC Hammer) was considered "selling out?" What Hip Hop artist today doesn't have a contract with some food beverage, or cell phone company? I make that point to say that Hip Hop has progressed in many aspects & declined in others. So, the Peas aren't talkin' about ''poppin' bub in the club'' or comin' up with the latest xeroxed Crank Dat dance, or incessantly using Autotune, they're still Hip Hop!

  • the dance they do at the end is so freakin cool ^^

  • ayo.. what song is they playin at the end?!?!?!

  • it's not an actual song, it's just something they did for this video, this is the full version.

  • is that john mayer playing guitar in the end while they breakdance?

  • lol is that supposed to be a joke do you know how old this is

  • They used to be incredible, this album helped introduce me to hip-hop as a teenager. Now they make vaguely unlistenable pop with bastardized hip-hop roots.

  • BASTARDIZED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It's weird to like a group that was kinda underground; and now I hate 90% of the stuff they do now. Everyone and their momma likes them now

  • classic hip hop video

  • I like this Black Eyes Pies, before Fergie joined the group.

    Real hip-hop.

  • I know the guy with long hair is Phillipeno and there is a song where he raps and sings in Phillepeno. Not Mexican etc..

  • thanks My oop's!

  • Oh yeah, now I remember when BEP was cool.

  • when dey didnt have fergie

  • bey rule motherfuckers

  • i loved this video the best part was when they danced at the end, this was there first video right?

  • it was either this or Fallin' Up

  • Allan (AP) has always been the "TRUE FRONT MAN". I remember chillin' at Allan's dad's crib. Me, Mook, Allan, Uncle Faye. This is when they were the Atban Klann real legendary ish. Allan and Will used to dance at the apartment, and Allan always was a natural. Will on the other hand was the "Egotistical" side of the group. These were cool times that lead to endless memories. It's sad to see what has become of them. If anybody can get a hold of the Grass Roots LP. Enjoy. Got mine from Mook in 1992.

  • Hell Yea! When we gunna hear solo shit from Apl?! I been waitin for years. Give us some fresh shit APL!!!

  • this is way be fore ferggie

  • i remember william doing the running man out on the PE field down at the courts with this little asian dude that did backflips n shit @ Paul Revere Junior High School, he wouldnt remember me tho..

  • Somebody knows if 2da part removed it to they in another CD. Or the song with that 2da part.

I hearded that they removed it in a CD in that age or before, soundtrack called " Break Up" where it appears beat final.

Commentaries? Somebody knows of this? somebody can help in this, to find the song with the final beat, or a song from BEP with this beat solo?

  • this was before fergie jumped in and the BEP was tight....

  • Fuck me! I wish i could dance like that dude. That end piece is fantastic. Great tune :-) pity that end section isn't on the actual cd. Does anyone know where to get a version with that end section on? It's the BOMB!

  • Can the FAT ass rappers of today dance like this?

  • I havent seen this video in I-dont-know-how long...damn, I remember them like that.Seems so long now,... with the reinvention of themselves as artistes, but say what, thats life

  • IS DUDE ASIAN.

  • No he's Mexican but I remember when I first saw this back in the day I thought the same thing XD

  • APL is asian. TABU the tall guy is native american.

  • taboo is mexican....

    and native american ^_~

  • HAHAHA! Nice vid! People sleep on BEPs!

  • 2:30 - the end!!! Is my fav. part!! Well..its all our fav parts! lol

  • Hell, this was their "breakout" hit. I remember seeing them at the MTV beachhouse @ the Jersey Shorel. It was my first "concert". Long live the BEP.

  • I love their old stuff.

  • black eyed peas are very talented

  • This shit is the legend.

  • The end-piece with the dancin' RULES...MY SHIT!

  • big song.

    ol skool

  • This will always be my favorite from them.
