I like both Zenyatta and RA but I have to say, I just love the way RA run her races. She makes them look so effortless. A lot of her race Calvin just pat her down with his hand while she is running. Just image if he would have asked her to run in a lot of these races, records would be shatter.

A very fair comment. Although I tend to look at it like... the pair are completely uncomparable. Because we'll never know the limits of Ruffians potential, you cant compare ANYONE to her. Whether Rachel would have been better, its not something we can decide. I myself am a fan of both great mares, but am slightly more a fan of Zenyatta as well. I'm working on a tribute to her as well as we speak. Just need footage of the Apple Blossom lol. Thanks for the comment!

Since we don't know Ruffians limits,she could have gone on to win even more races and further her legacy, but she could also have gone suddenly downhill and never won another race. That would make for two completely different cases, one where she is the greatest racer of all time, and the other where she was still great, but not the greatest.

Not saying I think the second scenario would have happened, but that's just another perspective.

She has such a regal presence that even the horse walking beside her knows. Look starting @ 0:08 Rachel's head is held high the entire time while the other horse has his/her head held down low the entire time.

I was there at the 134th Preakness. I know a lot of people can say that, but on most of the videos you can see my group standing along the fence and running with her as they go around the 3rd turn. All the maroon from the Virginia Tech Equestrian Club! We were screaming and crying. :-) It was incredible to be there.

I really love this video. I cried a little at the end. 3-year old fillies are not supposed to have the season she had in 2009. To do all that while still not fully developed is frightening...in such a good way. It makes me look forward with eager anticipation to 2010. It could be monstrous.

No, she isn't like Ruffian. Ruffian broke records every time she ran, but she was too fragile to go on as she did, what with being injured as a juvenile and then what happened as a three-year-old. Ruffian may have been greatness manifest, but she never could have even sustained Rachel Alexandra's campaign.

You are right, she isn't "like-Ruffian".  She is more sound than she was and I think better. Rachel even broke Ruffian's record this year in the Mother Goose for longest length of victory and Rachel has done things this year NO FILLY HAS EVER DONE BEFORE.

Great Vid again, she certainly is a super filly.

Its been an amazing year for producing super 3yo's across the globe. See The Stars in Europe, Rachael Alexandra in Nth America and now in Aust we had a 3yo called So You Think win the biggest WFA race in here on the weekend at just his 6th race start in the second fastest time in the history of the race.

Although its highly unlikely, Id love to see RA have a crack at the Dubai World Cup next year.
