I know you probably really don't care... But that really is a glockenspiel. Xylophones are low pitched and typically made of wood. Greek xylon meaning wood and phone meaning sound...
Despite the german word for bell being in glockenspiel they don't have bells... That's probably why #Bustelicous was confused... I think they were named after bells because of their metallic timbre and typical high pitch.
@Bustelicous One of my older brothers played percussion in middle school so we've had this one lying around the house for a few years. The NerdKits' cut steel bars just seem insane... every other part of the project like the wiring and soldering and programming seems within easy reach of any electronics hobbyist.
@russelljenkinsfearn lol, in the "Arduino Xylophone" video I address the common misconception. See, nobody cares about glockenspiels, they're just not popular or marketable. And only if you are a musician, read a lot of Wikipedia or are German would you know the difference.
would it be possible to get an instructional vid on this? or the source code even? i'm using the nerd-kits video for it and want to play something more complicated like this but i can't program to save my life! lol.
This is incredible!!! How did you get the timing signatures to line up perfectly? The tracks are so perfectly aligned I have to believe you played the tracks separately mixed them somehow. Anyway this is awesome.
Hi Kara3030, is it possible for you to upload a sound file, preferably at higher resolution (320k or flac)? I want this for my phone's ring tone!

How did you make the xylophone/metallophone/glockenspiel? Did you buy it or did you make it like they did in the NerdKits video?
Btw I am german and a glockenspiel is definitly something else! Or do you see any bells?

It's a glockenspiel not a xylophone but it's great either way

@CastIronMustache you can play more than one melody at a time on a xylophone. this is one track.
