  • We cannot change the past (unless you are a Progressive/Liberal/Socialist/ Communist revising it). The future is what needs to be taken care off. The only answer is lower taxes (40 % max not the current 60% paid by the productive like me when you add in all the hidden taxes). Smaller government (they cannot run anything correctly anyway). This is not the change that Obama promised. It's the same tired, old solution we've always heard from big government liberals. Viva Reagan, Che was a murderer!

  • This is a video that is being pushed by Deepak Bhargava, you know the man who loves that Obama has stealthly put more taxpayer money into poverty than has been in the last 40 years. Obama can't talk about his social or racial justice cause it would turn off the American People. Damn right it would, we don't hand our free rides in this nation, and progressives love FREE RIDES on the TAXPAYER DIME. Too bad they don't realize that they will lose their money too.

  • So you want medical care rationed by wealth then? Maybe you want to save cutybackes on raise the Medicare age from 65 to 70 so it5 covers far fewer people like Betsy McCaughy too?

  • It is time to send Senator Grassley (and the like) out to pasture. Elitist votes against the American People Majority STOPS NOW. Vote Out the Old Vote In the New. Yes We Can.

  • Actually the bill enhances the interaction between patients and physicians. As it is now, an insurance company clerk decides if you get treatment, not a physician.

  • Yes but you can fire the insurance company clerk and choose someone else if you don't like what he is doing from 1,300 insurance companies in America rather than dealing with one government

  • No. There is no competition in the current health insurance market. If you have insurance from your employer you are captive to their plan. you have no other choices.

And in the the individual market If you are sick or were sick in the past you are considered a loss and no insurance company will take your business.

  • Even if you are healthy and are in the individual (ie self-employed) market, it is expensive. It's my second biggest expense, just after rent. Utterly ridiculous.

And sure, there's competition, well, at least "choices". But there's also price-fixing. So I lose.

  • but you don't have to go to a goverment one if you don't like it, plus the insurance company see you as a profit, not a person.

  • Yes that's right the insurance company does see you as a PROFIT. Yes that PROFIT is an INCENTIVE to do a better job and stay in business. Otherwise if their customers walk they cease to exist. Government has no incentive the government can operate completely at NO-PROFIT with NO INCENTIVE to do a better job. TELL ME WHERE IS THE INCENTIVE FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO DO A BETTER JOB? :)

  • they can also so see you as deductive, they have cut people to save money. Including children

  • The Facts are Medicare denies more people than insurance companies do. You're not answering the question WHERE IS THE INCENTIVE FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO DO A BETTER JOB? Considering that Medicare has Fraud problems out the wazoo.

  • Bullshit, people go bankrupt paying thier insurence. Goverment is non-profit, their paying the bill and since their non-profit their top concern is the peoples welfare not making money. After all, the best systems in the world are goverment runned.

  • Medicare denied 475,000 medical claims out of 6.9 million applied for. More than any other insurance company in America. 2008 AMA study. So I guess Robert Reich is speaks for the public option folks "We're going to have to, if you're very old, we're not going to give you all that technology and all those drudgs for the last couple of years of your life to keep you maybe going another couple of months. Its too expensive...so we're going to let you die."

  • do you even know what the public option is? It's not medicare, and also most doctor perfer to deal with Medicare or want goverment run, then Insurence companys

  • They provide healthcare to our Vets, they love it.. Why can't we have for everyone?

  • Isn't called an election?

  • It is...but a majority of the time, Grassley runs unopposed here in Iowa. And much like this commerical states, I too have voted for Grassley in the past and I am a Democrat. No more...I guess if Senator Grassley can't be bipartisan, than why the hell should I???????

  • Mr. Shilling- I really wonder if you are with us all these years. The State motto of our state is "Our liberties we prize our rights we will maintain." Apparently you forgot that when you came back from war. Because with this bill you won't have the right to interact with your doctor. You won't intimidate Grassley so forget it.

  • What rights are you talking about?? This bill in no way does anything to reduce patient rights or choices... there would be a public option, but the key word is option, 100% voluntary.

  • How gullible are you - there is nothing in this bill that will limit your right to interact with your doctor. Whoever told you that is lying to you in order to stir up opposition. Stop listening to Beck and Rush and get a clue

  • The real question, my friend, is how gulliable are YOU? It is in the Bill H.R. 3200 that it limits your choices Pg 298 Lines 9-11 Doctors that treat a patient during initial admission that results in a readmission-Government will penalize you. That sounds like a limit on how I will interact with my Doctor. If I have the same problem and they can't fix it shouldn't I have the ability to go back untill its fixed? I dare you to quote from the bill because you can't.

  • I am in with the public option, and I consider myself conservative. Actually the public option will have to be defended from cherry-picking and lemon dropping by private insurance companies (this is what insurance companies do best, YES, enticing the healthy and Dropping you when you become ill).

  • Steelfish92- what planet are you from??? You must be one those execs who rakin' in the dough from the rest of us. Bloodsucking drug company CEO's!

  • Expand Medicare....

    we will all save money..

    I

  • Dear Mr. President, GIVE US REAL HEALTH CARE REFORM, GIVE US A BILL WITH THE PUBLIC OPTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not some watered down Bull Shit that's sugar coated and called health care reform

  • ALL Insurance CEOs HAVE EXCELLENT HEALTH COVERAGE & can afford it. AGREED?

ALL Senators HAVE EXCELLENT HEALTH COVERAGE & can afford it. AGREED?

But some PAID Senators DONT WANT YOU to have that SAME CHOICE OF AFFORDABLE HEALTH COVERAGE ??

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE??

Only in the USA would an Uninformed Consumer protest against REFORM & PUBLIC OPTION and in so doing PROTEST AGAINST HIS OWN BEST INTEREST!!

    WHO BENEFIT?? absolutely not YOU

    WHO BENEFIT?? INSURANCE CORP!!

  • ''Making obscene amounts of money off the sick and dying is totally sick, and not the American way I have ever envisioned!

Please help support health care for all humans ... and animals. It is the right thing to do for a compassionate nation, and at a certain level critical for our own interests and national security.

  • YOUR CHOICE---Support the AMERICAN PEOPLE or support BIG INSURANCES

TRUE PATRIOTS SUPPORT A PUBLIC OPTION!!

United Healthcare CEO Stephen Hemsley 2008 salary = $13.2 MIL (*)

Has $74.2 MIL in Stock options

CIGNA CEO Edward Hanway 2008 salary = $12.2 MIL (*)

Has $82.8 MIL in Stock options

Humana CEO Michael McCallister 2008 salary = $10.3 MIL (*)

Has $60.7 MIL in Stock options

    (*) MILLION$ IN BONU$E$ NOT INCLUDED!!

They make MORE IN ONE YEAR than a Middle Class in 65 years!!

  • Steelfish ... You're so full of hatred because we have a Black President that you keep your eyes & your ears shut to the good he's doing for the Middle Class.

FACTS are of no concern to you. You willingly accept any lies that attack Obama even if in your mind you know them to be just that ... outrageous LIES.

REPUBLICAN FREEDOM = YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN.

No Health Insurance? Your Claim Denied? Not Insurable? WHO CARES !!

As long as BIG INSURANCES make HUGE PROFIT ... it's OK !!

  • And what FACTS to you have librophile? You say you have them, but you didn't back up the statement with them.

  • Steelfish,

We aren't opposing Capitalism, if we did, my education in Economics would be pretty well useless and I would be obsolete. Doctors and hospitals can make profits, but its time to completely cut out the useless middleman that is the insurance company. Our current system is bloated, inefficient, and someone else decides whether you get treatment, not through dreaded 'rationing' but rather on whats cheapest for companies. No one is endangering your freedom at all, if they are, how?

  • Steelfish

WATCH THIS VDO TITLE ON YOUTUBE:

HELP!!!!!! We Are Dying for Health Care SOS!!!!!!

Learn about the sacrifice that an American Soldier did for his family.

Maybe his story will reach inside your thick skull !!

  • I don't want the private industry to compete, they serve no purpose and are simply a massive drain on American resources, I want them driven out of business, but this doesn't even require government subsidies... though I wouldn't oppose that, but simply by charging premiums and using that purchasing power to negotiate discounted rates for everyone without a profit margin is more efficient then the private industry can possibly get.(Cutting out the useless middleman helps doctors and patients)

  • What is the problem with cash for clunkers now? It doesn't help or hurt the economy that much, but it gets inventory moving and improves national fuel economy and pollution standards a bit, so hey... Social Security is failing because it was endlessly raided to finance other programs rather than being left to itself. The postal office has mixed results, but its required by the Constitution, and serves an important purpose. Government control is better than corporate control in some instances.

  • I am a tax payer, I've never been on welfare, and my family has been here since the 1600's, I have ancestors that were killed in the Revolution, my great great great grandpa got his horse shot out from under him at Gettysburg, and so on. My father did work for Ford for 25 years, and my grandpa for GM for 30 years, so I can't say I opposed the bailout. Cash for Clunkers was of benefit to everyone, so I don't see a problem, if it gets the economy going, and doesn't harm your rights, which it won't

  • Wow - I can see the froth coming out of your mouth. Let's see what you think when YOU get sick, then lose YOUR job and then can't get insurance to pay for treatment

  • Every person I talked to at the health care town meeting I went to either worked for an insurance company, was on staff at a hospital working with insurance companies or told me they get all their information from Glenn Beck. I talked to a lot of people there and was surprised. I live in Alabama. Most of the cars in the parking lot were from Texas and Georgia and other states. That tells me everything I need to know about these so called grass roots shouters at the meetings.

  • Steelfish..."or ability to learn from your own mistakes and the mistakes of those before you"...

    SteelFish ... YOU'RE 100% WRONG !!

After 12 yrs of a Republican controlled Congress and 8 yrs of Bush ... WE DID LEARN ... and WE THREW the corrupt, lying, incompetent REPUBLICANS OUT OF OFFICE in 2006 & 2008 ... and we'll do it again in 2010 & 2012.

    Thank you for reminding us.

  • As a staunch young Democrat, I salute Mr. Shilling.

Thank you for your service in the Army, thank you for showing that there can be agreement on both sides of the aisle, and thank you for coming out so strongly in support of the public option.

  • Yes, thank you for your service .... Mr. Shilling ... then and now.

    A staunch old Democrat.

  • This is a great video. Thank you, Mr. Shilling!

Ninjaculation: We should pay for each other's healthcare because we are a civilized people who know that a sick nation is not a productive or moral nation. The greatest nation on earth can do better than be ranked 36th in the world for healthcare. We should have a better infant mortality rate than El Salvador, not a worse one, and the United States, with so many people of faith within it's borders, should care more for the "least of these".

  • I too believe that most americans want the public option and the media fueled by drug ads are trying to defeat it.

A recent newsweek had Oprah on the cover with the headline "Crazy Talk" about her airing "natural" cures to treat illness... while inside the edition drug companies took out 4 page spreads INCLUDING the back of the front cover; the back of Oprah's head. It was an open threat to those that wish to upset the status quo.

  • Pro-healthcare reform MARCH ON WASINGTON; September 13, 2209.

Visit the websites below and pass it on! This issue is too important!

    americansunitedhcr.wordpress(dot)com

  • The corrupt lackeys of oligarchs sitting in Washington don't know what's good for us. Put the public option back into the healthcare bill now!

  • I can't BELIEVE anyone in the US would oppose public healthcare.

You people leave your elderly parents to rot; I've never seen such horrible neglect of the old in any other country? Family values? Don't make me laugh. I could name fifty countries with better family values than the US.

  • Americans don't even like each other.

Well, thanks. I always thought US patriotism was just a hollow scam. All that shouting and flag-waving and swearing oaths. Now I know better. There is no such thing as American society.

  • any time!

Yeh, we have nationalism not really patriotism.

I'll probably immigrate to a country where people help each other. Lived in Japan for a while, visited England. Seemed nice. But for now the game is fuck over as many people as possible. Who am I to rock the boat?

  • So you'd rather bitch about a tax-hike for those who make 350+K (which is what Obama has sugested) to allow this guy and those like him to purchase affordable insurance through a public option, than bitchh about those things?

This is why nobody (besides Conservatives) can believe Conservatives!

You are only against Democrats; logically your guy's arguments are deflated.

Noone is trying to take anything from us!

Trust your instinct to think logically for yourself...

  • You're wrong when you say that the new proposed tax increases will fund the public option.

The public option, after it takes off, will support itself without government funding, just like every other health insurance company does. The only difference is that it will be a nonprofit organization, and there will be no CEOs making billions of dollars off of us every year.

  • Hey Ninja, don't you know you are already a piggy bank for that "BUM" when he and the other 40 million uninsured go to the emergency room!

Don't you know you are a "piggy bank" for all the elderly on medicare and the vetrans, and also the to top 2% of richest Americans who were given massive tax-cuts under George Bush and a Rep. Congress(by Reconcilliation no less!)? Your also the funding of Bush's TARP as well!

    and...

  • sarcasm dude :)

  • That's the your logical reply, "sarcasm dude"?

You proved my point: your an unthinking moron who can't even defend his position.

Good luck with the Kool-aid man; it'll all end up fine - I'm sure ;)

  • @miticone6 Yeah and I can't WAIT for the 2010 elections!!!!!!! Especially with Senator Grassley's letter to his Republican constituency that he will never support "Obamacare. Period." NIIIICE!! Let's see you backpeddle out of that one Chuck!

  • Nice to see an uppercut to Grassley's chin. I bet he didn't see that one coming! Now that he's been put between his constituency and his corporate paymasters, we can watch him squirm.

  • He'd have to have a conscience to squirm...we're gonna have to fight for this one. The bought and paid for Republicans coudn't care less.

  • Conservatives are crazy people.

  • Taken from the liner notes on Ann Coulter's latest half-literate screed, printed in double spaced LARGE COMIC SANS for retarded myopic children.

  • This a great advertisement. Thank you for calling Sen. Grassley out on taking all that money from the insurance companies.

Who is responsible to? The citizens or the insurance companies?

  • Oh don't worry fellow Jacksonholian - the man in that ad is going to run against Grassley in the next election - so you'll become very familiar with him, veerrry soon...

  • Step 1. Almost entertaining enough to advance a theory about producing a consumable, reliable product that allows the various raw goods suppliers to impliment specifications which in conclusion, derive an acceptable repeatable structured response.

This yields a high percentage of success when applied congruently.

IE: Interpretations that preclude a designated response which unfortunately, you are lacking.

Need a step 2, or is it time to think about that Legacy gift yet?

  • hmm maybe the same place we used to afford a few months of the multiyear Iraq war?

  • yeah baby

  • O No Poor Grassley!!

  • Migsoon you people obsess and obsess about this abortion and immigration bullshit and it keeps healthcare in gridlock because of your bate and switch tactics getting people off message and distracted by issues that don't affect the majority of Americans. Shut the hell up and start helping the majority of the American people get the healthcare reform we deserve. The rest of the details can be worked out later.

  • *dies of a preventable disease because he couldn't afford healthcare*

    *feels silly*

  • Comment removed

  • Migsoon, What on earth are you talking about? You've taken some pretty big leaps away from healthcare reform! Maybe you thought you were on a different webpage.

  • I'm a layer who has read this entire Bill and your just FLAT WRONG about it covering ANY aliens or paying for "elective" abortions that have nothing to do with the mother's health...

Migson - your either simply lying - or you have not a clue what your talking about.

If you have read the Bill, refer me to the pages that contain the claims you have made...will you?

    I'll be waiting.

  • Hey Migson, don't forget to send those page and article numbers that support your claims!

  • Crickets ;-)

  • Thank you Kevin for doing the ad. It's not socialism to want competition for health insurance companies who buy our politicians to keep the status quo. For everyone spouting this is socialism consider every congressman is a socialist as we pay their salaries and health care yet we aren't entitled to the same equality? I'm tired of my hard earn money going to foreign wars not to Americans. We deserve better than what we''ve gotten.

  • What species does this kind of retard belong to??!! Skunks?...Sorry, didn't mean to insult the skunks!

  • JoseyJJ said "A public option IS socialized healthcare"

So what? Water treatment, police, fire, postal service, coast guard are already government run. They do pretty darn good job!!!

  • Absolutely Safet. Medicare is based on the Canadian healthcare system, is a socialized healthcare program and it has worked very well for 45 plus years. It's a very successful program and all the extreme right can say is that it's running out of money. That's called GOP propaganda at it's finest and that propaganda is based in negative bate and switch tactics designed to get the American people off message and stuck with the status quo enriching the health insurance companies.

  • And let's not forget: Medicare is having money troubles because the private sector can't rein in costs and in fact makes health care more expensive each year, thanks the virtual monopolies that the pharmaceutical, medical device, hospital, and insurance companies enjoy.

  • Acrually, both Medicare and the Canadian system are not "socialized medicine". They are "social insurance" for medical care. In both cases, physicians are in private practise an hospitals are independent of the paying government and have non governmental boards.

In Socialized medicine, physicians are civil servants and hospitals are governmentr built owned and run.

  • That's exactly right. In communist systems the government owns the hospitals and the physicians are civil servants. There is a lot that many Americans need to learn about the difference.

  • So DOD and DVA are communist systems? These are the examples of socialized medicine in the US physicians are civil servants and hospitals are government built owned and run

Medicare and Medicaid are social insurance systems but DOD and DVA are socialized medicine.

  • Britain is not a communist nation either and NHS in Britain is a pure socialized medicine system as well. Every physician in Britain is a civil servant, and all hospitals are government owned and operated.

  • @murphyj87

I came here from the uk and yes we have free health care although we do pay for it through taxes and suchlike, yes they are waiting lists ,a little bit longer than you would like but the system still allows you to walk into an emergency unit and get treated without paying a penny, and they still have doctors doing house calls for FREE

  • Same here in Canada, I mean we pay by taxation, but it's a lot less than Americans pay for health care, and we have no out of pocket costs..

  • Read the book entitled "The Healing of America: A Global Quest for Better, Cheaper, and Fairer Health Care by T.R. Reid. That book explains the different systems much more clearly than these little posts here can.

  • I realize that Americans continuously MISUSE the term "socialized medicine", but definition I gave is the real definition. The one Americans are used to using is not the true definition.

  • laughable stupidity

  • >>>>A public option IS socialized healthcare

    No it's not!

But Veterans health care IS "socialized health care" because the government owns the hospitals and employs the doctors.

Are you suggesting our Veterans are Socialists??

  • This is a great ad. Further, it highlights one of two things about Grassley: 1) he is swayed by the money he gets from the current pharm/health industry; or 2) he already holds opinions that benefit the pharm/health industry and so he receives their funding to keep him in office. Either way, Grassley is not siding in the interest of most Iowans on the issue of health care reform. I voted for Grassley twice. I will not be voting for him in 2010 if he continues down his current path.

  • A man who voted republican wants "socialism." What is the world comming too? That is sarcasm. I can't wait for fox to see this. I wish this guy was at one of the townhall meetings. He might have woken the nuts out of their frenzy. Keep it up.

  • For the love of God, people are dying over a fucking measly 3 million dollars in bribe money.

  • I love this ad.

I just donated to keep it running. Come on people. This is important.

  • We're mad as hell, and we're not gonna take it anymore...

  • Won't See this Video on the Fair and Balanced Opinion Site called TheFoxNation.

  • And if you knew that the government already does set a quota and the price he gets for his corn and because that system works so well, Amercains have so much food we are getting fatter every year, then you'd probable support the idea of government intervening into a market that has failed us miserably

  • We need to buy Congress back from pharma/insurance. Too bad we can't afford it.

  • Great commercial. Let's keep it going.

  • Yaaaaaaaaay! I knew that the "teabaggers" were just a sad fringe element that reasonable Republicans were likely afraid of. Insurance Companies do make life and death decisions everyday. Except their decisions aren't based on compassionate care. Donuts to dollars insurance analysts have quotas and rations to deal with.

  • Great Ad. I'll contribute to get it up more.

  • Yay, for Kevin!

  • beautifully done....sanity & facts from a Republican is desperately needed.

  • Absolutely brilliant! Why aren't ads like these running nationwide at the beginning of August?? Stuff like this should've been a major push from the get go, what are the so-called "strategists" for pro-healthcare reform thinking? They are smart, they should know better.

  • Thank you, Kevin! Well done, and well said!

  • Great commercial guys, how can I donate so you can air more of it?

  • Countdown to talking heads on FOX News calling this dude a communist.

  • no ALL Iowan's want public health care!!!

  • Send this to every1 you Know!!!!!!!!!

  • We've been letting private, for-profit insurance run health care in America for far too long. It's time for a public insurance option for those of us under 65! Oh, yeah, Grassley's collecting socialized healthcare as a Senator already, so what should he care about his fellow citizens.

  • This should be on every TV station in the nation... including Fox!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Please help spread it!

  • Of course, whoever has been fooled to begin with by the idea that Grassley is some high-principled straight shooter with a keen eye on protecting constituents from corporate railroading, well, they're not the sharpest tools in the shed.

  • Finally, a republican I can respect! Where have all of you been hiding?

  • Thanks Kevin!!!!!!!

This is the best and most honest call for the Public Insurance Option ever!

  • Excellent! Thank you.

  • Why does it always take Liberals such a loooong time to come up with this kind of short, clear, emotional and truth-telling ads? Personal stories are more convincing than dry columns and numbers!!! Always make it as simple as you just did in this ad, ´cause you just got my conservative support on the issue of healthcare!!!

  • Finally an honest republican willing to state the truth. Amazing how many screaming zombies show up at town hall meeting merely repeating what they are told, many of them without health care. WTF?

  • This is a truly objective stance. Grassley's comments were published and broadcasted nationally. Why limit this video to just Iowa?

  • This ad need s to be played on the tee vee every 15 min.

  • It's an OPTION! meaning NOT MANDATORY.

Don't let Grassley take your choice away from you.

YOU, can take it, or leave it. Sen Grassley should not be able to take that from you.

  • AMEN!!!! Senator Grassley, you have lost this Democrats vote from this point forward!!!!!!!!

  • 5 stars!

  • Good ad. This man says it well.

Senator Grassley, the question is legitimate: Who's side on you on? The big insurance companies, who gave you almost $3 million, or the average working families of Iowa and this country?

Either way, we'll remember this next year, at election time. You can count on it.

  • Great video. It sounds like he speaks from the heart.

The lies and the fears and propaganda from the right do no bring the country together. They divide the Country. There well maybe some things that need to be questioned in the bill, as to Whether or not it needs to be there and improved on when possible and removed if needed It does not mean that they should be skewed and made into something it is not though.

  • Nicely stated. The public option (option being the key word) makes sense to me.

  • Perhaps it is the time for enforced public financed elections. If they where in effect, no politician would owe anything to his/her supporters.

  • Kevin, as a Vietnam vet, with my son currently in Afghanistan, I support the right for all Americans to have a choice.

  • Thanks, Kevin!!

  • Mr Shilling,

    Thank You!!
