  • Never knew rolling a drum the right way could be so hard!

  • Well... lose a few, win a few, right Drum?

  • Thank you, eternally, for these BLOOPERS! wink wink

  • Lol, Frank Oz seems like he would be so fun to work with! But that poor drum...

  • Emmett: Oh no. He likes them all. He just likes to see the drum roll.

  • 3:00 "i'm a munchkin"

  • "GET THE DRUM, RUN, RUN, IT'S PROBABLY ABOUT 10 BUCKS."

  • "Right in the nose." lol

  • "Who are we, Ma?"

    "I couldn't care less!"

  • Frank Oz's otter's declaration of "I'm a munckhin" damn near killed me. Nearly sent my soda up my nose.

  • Omgosh! This is gold!

    SBF

  • god this was my favorite when I was a kid, I'm 42 now and still love this show lol - many thanks for posting this!

  • I'm a munchkin.

  • Ma: Get the drum! Run! RUN! It's worth about ten bucks!

Emmet: I can't! My feet are stapled!

  • How come the mom's voice is different than in the movie

  • @mspudds22 Because Frank Oz is playing the mom here - Marilyn Sokol added her vocals later...

  • 1:47 Sweet Jesus!

  • emmet: $50? person: and merchandice havnt whached the movie in a long time

  • "Hubba wah! Hubba hubba wah!" LMAO hahahaha That was hilarious! This is one of my fave Christmas movies...I love these outtakes!

Get the drum! Run, run! Its worth about ten bucks! Run, run!

WELL? WELL? GET UP! KICK HIM, EMMET.

    TCH! Good Lord!

    XDDD!!!

  • The UNCUT version of Emmet Otter is available on DVD! This version contains Kermit's narration, Kermit's appearances, ALL songs and of course the infamous "fall off the dock" line! It's available for a VERY reasonable price to buyers located in the US! Send me a PM if you are interested.

  • hubawa..hubahubawabahawa..hubawha!?!

  • its funny to see how much life they put into these puppets even between takes, they make them seem so real

  • 1:46 to 3:36 is amazing. And how 4:53 to 5:43 is Frank just getting sillier and sillier. "Who are we Ma-" "I couldn't care less." I think my favorite line is: "I'm a munchkin." And when Frank starts going "Huba-wha?!"

  • My respect for Frank Oz's sense of humor just sky rocketed.

  • Oh. My. God. I actually remember this movie from my childhood o_o

I had no idea that one scene took so many tries to get right, you have to admire their persistance. Thanks so much for posting =)

  • @RazorRaven619 They did a test of the drum before that happened.

  • SWEET JESUS!!!! DID YOU SEE THAT???

  • Cant we do it again Ma?

    Shut up Emmet.

  • lol omg rofle this is so funny

  • who are we ma?

    i couldn't care less!

  • Thank you so much. Both this and the upload to the internet archive is a true gift to me and so many of us. To hear Kermit and his final words (curse you Disney for cutting them out) . . . it means a lot.

  • Thank you so very much. For this and for the upload to the internet archive. I think of this every year and it reminds me of my mother. This is a true gift.

  • Now I'm going to watch the video to see what they were trying to do with that drum.

  • @StellaRondo68 i know the comment is old but here it is. what Hensen wanted was for the drum to hit that thing on the sidewalk, and then spin around gradually as it settled on its side. the first time they did it without the camera rolling to see if it would work, it happened Perfectly--but it never happened again! Hensen was so persistent on getting that effect they tried hundreds of more takes. finally they just went with the next best one--the one where they bowed, that made it in the film

  • @Perid0tStar Thanks! We watch this video every year. It's a keeper.

  • the original emmet featuring kermit has been downloaded 92 x as of this post. let's hit 100 before christmas!

the video is a free download at the internet archive.org, just search emmet.

    happy holidays

  • i think i love this more than the whole movie!! :D lol

  • lmao "my hand is alive"

  • youtube pulled my video of the original airing featuring Kermit. I uploaded it to the- internet archive.org

just search emmet, & go to the link. anyone can download it. it takes about 30 minutes to do so. download the mpeg4 file for best quality.

    enjoy!

  • I LOVE THIS SHOW... My Mother & I used to watch this every year when I was a kid, now that I have it on DVD we continue the tradition every Christmas Day.

  • Check out Muppet Friday! on Facebook for a great Henson clips service...Much recommended...

  • Hub-a-wah! Hubba Huwwa Huww-wa! Hubba-wha? lol.

  • i moved the videos to my 8mmhomemoviechannel. they were then blocked. i'll never understand youtube's policies. there are several otter uploads, all "infringing," on copyright. it doesn't matter if you give credit to the owner, you must first obtain permission by the owner & i doubt most anyone has. yet all these are online.

what makes even less sense. i can watch them on my own channel, yet no one else can. generally when one of your video's are blocked you can't view them yourself.

  • Never getting that time back

  • I've uploaded my original vhs recording from 1982 featuring Kermit, who was deleted (along with a few other scenes) in later broadcasts, & vhs/dvd's.

search emmet otters jug band christmas. there are 6 parts. since it was just uploaded define your search to the latest or most current uploads in the youtube search engine.

  • @tubengagements I searched & got nothing...

  • "My hand is alive!?" LMAO

  • Like is too weak a word for my reaction to this. Love does the job, and thanks for posting this here.

  • "Spare change?" "Anything for me and my son?" "Come on we just need alittle...you know?" LOL

  • Aw yeah, Emmet Otter~

  • The drum clips - Ma's voice isn't the voice they used in the movie (Marilyn Sokol) it's Frank Oz (who does Miss Piggy) Her voice was probably dubbed in. Never realized that.

  • The drum clips - Ma's voice isn't the voice they used in the movie (Marilyn Sokol) it's Frank Oz (who does Miss Piggy)

  • Great stuff!

Those drum takes were incredibly funny.

  • "Sweet Jesus! Good Lord ... Did you see that? Did you see that?"

  • "Help my Mom out? All she needs is a bottle of Ripple®!" LOL

And oh yeah. Ahhhh, Ripple®. Is there any problem you can't fix?

  • This is still my favorite christmas movie ever!!! I've been watching it christmas eve since 1982 (on the same VHS copy I've had since childhood)...I love these out takes!!!

  • I love this show. I wish Netflix had it. :-(

  • @jibberjabber9 it's like 10 bucks at Wal-Mart

  • @psychomonkeyman I found it for $5 at WalMart! yee haw

  • 3:27 to 3:35 FUNNY!!!

  • 3:00 is the best!!!

  • This just made my day! lololol

    "...I'm a munchkin."

The way she said that.... I dunno if I ever laughed that hard at a video xDD

  • All she needs is a bottle of ripple

  • who are we ma....hahahahahaha......btw what was the scene when she was like (come in come in) (Dont fuss im just hear for the spinning wheel you keep barowing) (well sit down....i...i dont even have.....ohhhh....) ????? haha did she forget a line.....he/she lol

  • "he likes them all, he just wants to see the drum roll." XD

  • Wow, hard to believe this film is as old as I am. Haven't thought about this movie in years, I think I need to look up video. :)

  • I haven't seen this movie- where was the drum SUPPOSED to go? It seems like it went in every direction that they could have expected it to over the 300 thousand takes shown here and yet they keep trying again...

  • @NoctemOUT the drum is supposed to lay slanted on the second ledge.

  • This was hysterical. My sister and I used to watch this at Christmas when we were little. My favorite was the Riverbottom Nightmare Band.

  • Emmet: "Who are we, Ma?"

    Ma: "I couldn't care less."

  • "im a munchkin!"

  • may the love of the sweet muppets and sesame street live on forever now that jimhenson has passed away

  • Think how tired their arms got doing that drum scene. Also, it's funny how they constantly keep life in those puppets even between takes they still make you think they are real. lol

  • This is back when Muppet productions were good. Now they are a bunch of crap, politically correct, liberal, environmentist pushing pieces of sh*t.

I didn't know these existed and had never seen them. Who would have guessed that rolling drum scene took THAT many takes.

  • 1:17 OH! WE SEE THE PUPPETTEER!

  • hahaa "im a munchkin" "i think im just gonna lay on the pavement for a while, son. spare change!! spare change!!" "sit sit sit! roll over!" "well,,, when a funerals a funerals a funeral, right drum?" " i couldnt care less" ohhhh...funny

  • Every song in this special was off the chains...I'd totally forgot about "In Our World"..man I gotta find this on DVD...the original HBO one, not the ABC one that Kermit was in.

  • @polobear1975 Actually, the one with Kermit IS the original, and then Disney had Hensons edit the frog out of the picture for all re-releases when they bought the rights to the muppets.

So the dvd is guaranteed Kermit-free.

  • RIP Jim, thank you mr Henson for every laugh you ever gave me , thank you!

  • Wow that drum scene took a lot of time.

  • Hubah wah...hubahubahuba wah...huba...

    spare change? LAWLXD

  • Supposedly, in practice they got the drum to stick it where they wanted to on the first try. But there weren't any cameras on. When they had the cameras running, they couldn't get it to happen twice.

  • it's so great. It looks like they really enjoy the whole, grueling process.

  • They really don't make 'em like this anymore. A real masterpiece.

  • Oh God, I wonder how many takes it took for them to get the drum to land where it was supposed to land?

BTW, 1:54-1:57 has me dying of laughter. "Did you see that? *looks at man* Did YOU see that? *man completely ignores her* XD

  • @caitlinjane92 oh my God, I was dying w/ laughter too...when she leaned in toward him, I was crying! LOL

  • Flat out, huh? Just Wham!

    Nice turn.

    Get off my foot!

  • my father let us leave the mall early x-mass eve to race home to watch this on HBO...we wrecked.....not my dad's fault, a drunk driver, driving on the wrong side of the road on Jersey's Darkest Two Lane.......

  • I've never seen the bloopers of this classic before! Thanks so much!

  • the mom sounds like a boy I watched this movie in my music class today what a Christmas classic

  • Not to be a pin-head, but: Ma Otter wanted the talent contest prize money to buy Emmet a swell, store-bought guitar with genuine mother-of-pearl inlay, and hocked the late Pa Otter's tool chest in order to purchase the material for a suitable costume to perform in. Emmet wanted to buy Ma a piano, and needed to punch a hole in Ma's wash-tub to make a wash-tub bass. The two subsisted with Emmet doing odd-jobs with those tools, and Ma doing laundry in the wash-tub. ..a take on Gift of the Magi

  • i would think after 645 tries the guy responsible for rolling the drum would either be fired or replaced....

then again - everyone on the set was probably doing bongs all day so it didnt really matter

  • Unless of course, the roller was Director Jim Henson himself! Certainly looks like him.

  • 2:49!!! My feet are stapled! Do we get hazard pay for this? I thought I was gonna get hit that time...

  • 2:00 Hubba wa!

  • "Who are we ma?"

    ROFL!

    And Im a munchkin

  • look at the birds up in the trees!

  • If I ever meet frank oz I'm going to ask him about this shoot with the drum roll.

  • I remember watching this the first time it ever appeared on HBO. It was great children's programing. Still remember that Emmett wanted to get his Mum a Mother of Pearl something or other. Remember "Riverbottom Nightmare Band." And, I remember all the worlds from the song "Our World" as I was just singing it the other day. Mission accomplished - I was touched by this.

  • Frank Oz is the fucking man, and Marilyn Sokol is hysterical.

  • I haven't thought about this in about 29 years . Thank you very much for posting this my friend and I used to know the whole movie word for word.

  • I love this! 2:20 was HILARIOUS! Never saw out takes from my favorite childhood flick.

  • God bless Jim Henson. He is sadly missed!

  • I wonder if its awesome or terrible to have muppets criticize you while you fail to roll a drum?

    To me it's awesome.

  • Cant we do it again mom?

    Shut up Emmet.

  • "Spare change. Help my ma out. She needs a bottle of ripple." OMG.....dyin laughing here!!!

  • OMG, Frank Oz and Jerry Nelson are HILARIOUS!!! And they prove that you can have funny bloopers that don't need to be bleeped (same with the guy who played the older otter - sounded kinda like Bernard).

  • "MY FEET ARE STAPLED!" LOL XD

  • God I loved this every Xmas season on HBO But Wow!, I have NEVER seen the bloopers.

1:51 "Sweet Jesus!" LMAO! Ma was such a sweet woman, very unlike her.

  • Look Ma! It's a giant!

  • I'm a HUGE fan of Emmet Otter, from my childhood, and I'd never seen bloopers before! This was FANTASTIC! :D

  • so where the fuck was the drum supposed to land??

  • Remember when it fell a certain way and they stopped doing the take? That's where the fuck.

"'Who are we, Ma?' 'I couldn't care less!'"

    "Spare change?"

  • Oh. I knew there was a catch!

  • I watch this over and over and I still laugh every time!

  • Some great bits! Thanks for posting the bloopers. Some great memories!!

  • i watched this show every Christmas on HBO, when i was in grade school..... i have never seen any bloopers, what a treat
