1:46 to 3:36 is amazing. And how 4:53 to 5:43 is Frank just getting sillier and sillier. "Who are we Ma-" "I couldn't care less." I think my favorite line is: "I'm a munchkin." And when Frank starts going "Huba-wha?!"
Thank you so much. Both this and the upload to the internet archive is a true gift to me and so many of us. To hear Kermit and his final words (curse you Disney for cutting them out) . . . it means a lot.
Thank you so very much. For this and for the upload to the internet archive. I think of this every year and it reminds me of my mother. This is a true gift.
@StellaRondo68 i know the comment is old but here it is. what Hensen wanted was for the drum to hit that thing on the sidewalk, and then spin around gradually as it settled on its side. the first time they did it without the camera rolling to see if it would work, it happened Perfectly--but it never happened again! Hensen was so persistent on getting that effect they tried hundreds of more takes. finally they just went with the next best one--the one where they bowed, that made it in the film
I LOVE THIS SHOW... My Mother & I used to watch this every year when I was a kid, now that I have it on DVD we continue the tradition every Christmas Day.
i moved the videos to my 8mmhomemoviechannel. they were then blocked. i'll never understand youtube's policies. there are several otter uploads, all "infringing," on copyright. it doesn't matter if you give credit to the owner, you must first obtain permission by the owner & i doubt most anyone has. yet all these are online.
what makes even less sense. i can watch them on my own channel, yet no one else can. generally when one of your video's are blocked you can't view them yourself.
I moved my upload (from tubengagements) to my new channel.
I've uploaded the original vhs recording from 1982 featuring Kermit, who was deleted (along with a few other scenes) in later broadcasts, & vhs/dvd's.
I am uploading them now & have most online. If you don't see ALL parts they'll be there today.
I've uploaded my original vhs recording from 1982 featuring Kermit, who was deleted (along with a few other scenes) in later broadcasts, & vhs/dvd's.
search emmet otters jug band christmas. there are 6 parts. since it was just uploaded define your search to the latest or most current uploads in the youtube search engine.
The drum clips - Ma's voice isn't the voice they used in the movie (Marilyn Sokol) it's Frank Oz (who does Miss Piggy) Her voice was probably dubbed in. Never realized that.
This is still my favorite christmas movie ever!!! I've been watching it christmas eve since 1982 (on the same VHS copy I've had since childhood)...I love these out takes!!!
If anyone wants an uncut version of the special on DVD, that DOES INCLUDE KERMIT, then please send me a PM. Kermit's narration is gone but the part in the beginning where he crashes his bike is in tact! Selling it for less than what you can buy the factory chopped up version for! THIS DVD INCLUDES THE 8 MINUTES OF BLOOPERS AS SEEN HERE!!!!!!!!!!
who are we ma....hahahahahaha......btw what was the scene when she was like (come in come in) (Dont fuss im just hear for the spinning wheel you keep barowing) (well sit down....i...i dont even have.....ohhhh....) ????? haha did she forget a line.....he/she lol
I haven't seen this movie- where was the drum SUPPOSED to go? It seems like it went in every direction that they could have expected it to over the 300 thousand takes shown here and yet they keep trying again...

@polobear1975 Actually, the one with Kermit IS the original, and then Disney had Hensons edit the frog out of the picture for all re-releases when they bought the rights to the muppets.
Supposedly, in practice they got the drum to stick it where they wanted to on the first try. But there weren't any cameras on. When they had the cameras running, they couldn't get it to happen twice.
my father let us leave the mall early x-mass eve to race home to watch this on HBO...we wrecked.....not my dad's fault, a drunk driver, driving on the wrong side of the road on Jersey's Darkest Two Lane.......
Not to be a pin-head, but: Ma Otter wanted the talent contest prize money to buy Emmet a swell, store-bought guitar with genuine mother-of-pearl inlay, and hocked the late Pa Otter's tool chest in order to purchase the material for a suitable costume to perform in. Emmet wanted to buy Ma a piano, and needed to punch a hole in Ma's wash-tub to make a wash-tub bass. The two subsisted with Emmet doing odd-jobs with those tools, and Ma doing laundry in the wash-tub. ..a take on Gift of the Magi
I remember watching this the first time it ever appeared on HBO. It was great children's programing. Still remember that Emmett wanted to get his Mum a Mother of Pearl something or other. Remember "Riverbottom Nightmare Band." And, I remember all the worlds from the song "Our World" as I was just singing it the other day. Mission accomplished - I was touched by this.
OMG, Frank Oz and Jerry Nelson are HILARIOUS!!! And they prove that you can have funny bloopers that don't need to be bleeped (same with the guy who played the older otter - sounded kinda like Bernard).
ha ha ha!!!!!!!! especially when she turns to the other person (human) and stares him dead in the face and says, "my goodness!!!! did you see that? DID YOU SEE THAT?"
