  • Fats sounds better

  • Fuck he's lame.

  • lol i love this song, they played it in the movie October Sky, also known as Rocket Boys. our tech teacher plays it EVERY class period...

  • I'm gonna start using this video to troll people xD

  • Pat Boone is a douche... GO listen to the real Fats version

  • @tuffasgong for your information, pat boone graduated magna cum laude in Columbia University

  • "Ain't That a Shame" is a song recorded by Fats Domino and Dave Bartholomew, in New Orleans, Louisiana, for Imperial Records and released in 1955. It was previously recorded in 1901 by Silas Leachman[1]. The recording ("Ain't It a Shame") was a hit for Domino, eventually selling a million copies. It reached #1 on the "Black Singles" chart and #10 on the "Pop Singles" chart.[2] The song is ranked #431 on the Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

  • i'm in love *.*

  • Stop whining just because you got beat in your own game you fucking coons.

  • I read somewhere that Pat Boone wanted to change the title to ISN'T that a shame. This suggestion was poo poo'd by the producer.

  • I love it

  • I hate when these crackers try to do music that needs "soul". Most of them were so straight laced and stiff about it.

P.S. I'm white....as well as a musician. I'm not just "hatin'" for the sake of "hatin"

  • @gund2281

Covers were the order of the day in regard to any song that was not considered marketable to pre-Presley era mainstream audiences in the song's original style, which is why you have people like Tony Bennett singing Hank Williams tunes and Pat Boone's labelmate Gale Storm singing Frankie Lyman's "Why Do Fools Fall In Love?". Boone was very good on mainstream pop ("Moody River", "April Love", etc. ) and has stated he covered r and b tunes only at producer Randy Wood's insistence.

  • Pat Boone stole this song and made millions

    "Ain't that a shame"

  • This version sucks big time, but the man CAN sing,

but rhythm & blues / rock & roll is just not his thing...he just sings it like a

pop standard frank sinatra type of song, he's just singing the wrong genre..

    anyways...he's mad hot...

  • I find it disheartening that Pat Boone's version has more hits than Fats Domino's.

  • Fats two thousand billion, Pat Boone 0

Ripping off rock and roll for the white market.

  • 0:36 Troll Face! :O

  • The guy can definitely sing, but this is a ridiculous cracker version of one of the greatest R&B songs of all time

  • Say what you want about Pat Boone, but one thing is for sure, he had his own style and still does. I think critics and fans alike will agree that even his R&B covers were very good. I always enjoyed his version of Tutti Frutti. Way to go Pat!!

  • A #1 hit for Pat Boone that also hit #14 on the Rhythm & Blues charts and #7 in the United Kingdom. It would finish at #9 for the year, 1955. 1955 was the year that the music scene changed forever when on July 9, Bill Haley and His Comets hit #1 with Rock Around the Clock, signifying the beginning of the Rock Era.

  • Fats Domino is still the thing. Who cares about what's his name with the white buck shoes?

  • I can tell the complainers didn't know these songs from the original era.

  • Was this song in the movie October Sky?? I only searched this because I saw the Comcast commercial. But October Sky is one of my all time favorite movies and this sounds really familiar with it.. :)

  • It isn't his own song!!!

  • @Theunit236 Please, tell me one band that has not covered a song. Okay, maybe there are some, but you're allowed to cover songs, Pat Boone did nothing wrong. As for who's better is up to one and each.

  • You dont look comfartable singin this Pat!!

  • Thumbs up if the Xfinity (comcast) commercial brought you here ^_^

  • prick

  • He never knew what he was actually singing about. Just smiling away like any other fake happy naive Christian.

For instance, when he gleefully sang tooty fruity in front of his lilly white congregation, he had no idea it was about anal sex.

At least I am assuming he had no idea.

Smile away, you fake happy hypocrites.

  • @bronco3250 The song was originally about anal sex, but Richard and the record company wanted a wider audience (see: white audience), so they changed the lyrics, the new lyrics has nothing to do about anal sex.

  • @bronco3250 not much hypocrisy there, the original lyrics WAS about sex, but you bet the execs didn't let them record that version... if you read the lyrics, the recorded version is total nonsensical bullshit..so yeah...why should they have problems with it other than the fact that the song is retarded? And yeah...Pat said he had no idea what the song is about, the revised lyrics made no sense...

  • If you think this is lame, try listening to his cover of "The Wind Cries Mary."

  • YAH.....IT THAT A SHAME PAT, THAT U STOLE HALF OF UR EARLY MUSIC FROM BLACK FOLKS.

    "Aint that a ShaaaAaAmamame!!!!!"

  • AND FATS DOMINO BUTCHERD THIS SONG AND I HATE HIM FOR IT CAUSE HIS FAT LIPS SLURRD THE WHOLE SONG

  • A little too happy. But he's much easier on the eyes than that Fats Domino.

  • He may not be a good actor, but he is definitely a great singer.

  • fuck this cracker

  • "Pat Boone made me rich" Little Richard

  • And also if it were not for him many other bands,Maroon 5,Avril Lavigne,Kelly Clarkson would have never existed. And that's the truth!

  • One thing I will say.Pat Boone is the King of Pop/Rock.For the people who don't agree don't comment!!!And don't say I meant Rock n Roll I just only said Pop/Rock!!!He is also handsome.

  • More bands and singers should wear a nice suit, and have a hairstyle like that. Lady Gaga wears fucking MEAT. Put her in a suit and give her a haircut like this dude... that'll settle her shite. Oh, and this is way better than Fats Domino, because Pat Boone obviously keeps himself in shape. Fats Domino should slim down and get a haircut like this... instead of wearing fucking meat. What the fuck is up with wearing meat? Get a haircut.

  • this is from a tv show.the studio recording by pat boone is much better than this and equal to fats domino's recording.both gentlemen had big hits of this song.that said, pat boone is a good christian who campaigned for Ronald Reagan for president.Ronald Reagan won the cold war and signed mlk day into a national holiday.there should be a Ronald Reagan national holiday.Reagan never lied.the left wing media always lies.karl marx is the devil.Allen West for president in 2012!!!JESUS IS GOD.

  • @slr1238 you do know Fats wrote it.

  • @slr1238 Funniest post ever. Gave you a thumbs up :)

  • @slr1238 OBVIOUS TROLL IS OBVIOUS

  • Where is the Soul?

  • Fats Domino is not losing any sleep over this piece of garbage. Pat Boone, the no talent piece of excrtement that he is, is now just another idiotic spokesman for all of the evangelical theofascists in the USA.

  • Google it...ain't that a shameeeeeeeeee.

Beautiful blonde Swedish girl brutally murdered by Negro murder photos leaked.

  • @dropout0110 damn man thats fucked up

  • QUE PORQUERIA DE VERSION!!! PAT BOONE ES UN FARSANTE QUE SOLO REPITIO LOS EXITOS DE LITTLE RICHARD Y FATS DOMINO QUE SON DOS DE LOS GRANDES EXPONENTES DE LO QUE DIO INICIO AL ROCK N' ROLL... EL FUE MUCHO MEJOR RANKEADO EN LAS LISTAS QUE FAT O LITTLE RICHARD SOLO POR QUE LOS BLANCOS TENIAS MÁS ACEPTACION... ESO SOLO SE REDUCE A RACISMO LOS VERDADEROS REYES DEL ROCK AND ROLL FUERON FATS DOMINO, LITTLE RICHARD Y POR SUPUESTO CHUCK BERRY, DESPUES DE ELLOS VINO PRESLEY

  • Fats Domino's version is 75 trillion * 10^9999 times better.

  • and people think Justin Bieber sucks.

ok, he does, but wow so does this!

  • @steakdiaper Justin Bieber and the Jonas Bros are the Pat Boones of today.

  • i met Pat Boone. he is my friend's dad's friend. he is really nice

  • @themoviedudemike He seems nice and seems the display good values. However, I wonder if he realized how badly he brutalized popular black music in an attempt to make it palatable to white audiences that already dug the originals. I know that it was a niche market for him and a cash cow for greedy bigoted record companies who catered to a then- scared white middle America who believed black music would make their kids "savages". I appreciated "April Love" though. He should have stayed in his lane

  • This, like most everything else, makes me feel ashamed of my race.

  • Pat Boon is a fucking thief.

But he's white, so why should anyone be surprised? White people have been thieving ever since they left the caves of Europe.

  • White bastard.

  • untalented self-righteous moron

  • This is pure garbage.

  • Very charismastic performance.

  • made his living rippping people off

  • pat boone, you're thief!

  • Where is the rock on that song???

  • Pat, you rock me to the core, baby.

I try to contain myself, but I find the urge to

get wild and leave my collar button undone

or use extreme language like" swell" and

"so's your old man", too much to resist.

    Long live Rock and Roll ! ! ! 8)

  • Oh he robbed bout as much soul music as Elvis! Sold more, made more, cuz black folk didn't know the business and they took full advantage! Then got mad when Ray Charles DEMANDED to own their masters!

  • He makes this song whiter than white.

  • Terrible cover, Fats is so much better.

I don't think i've ever heard a good song/cover that Pat Boone has ever sung.

  • White people...

  • long live fats domino this guy sucks!!!!

  • The key here is the eyebrows. Check out Pat Boone singing and watch his eye brows... completely stationary. Then check out Fats Domino and see that the soul lies in the eyebrows!

  • @meepandahalf How about the Thunderbirds? Only their eyebrow move and they're are truly soulless. There are holes in your theory....

  • Fuck this loser

  • Nobody did this song like Fats

  • This is basically the same shit Elvis did, some hot white boy who covered black musicians and sold more then the originals

  • Oh boy, he sure sucks...

  • Someone asked why Pat Boone isn't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Because he doesn't have a Rock and Roll bone in his body!!

  • @jpsegu The day Pat gets inducted is the day I stop seeing the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as sincere.

  • Why is Pat Boone not in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

  • @Goedhartbros hahahahahhahahahahahhahahh

  • Oh dear, Ugh,

  • lol he reminds me of a fag from my old school

in the end they all end up like shit dont worry ^^

  • Don't worry, Pat Boone will be forgotten soon enough. I learned about him in my History of Rock n' Roll class only to lament and laugh at his shameful covers of true Rock n' Roll greats. Little Richard and Fats Domino are staples of almost every "Greatest Artists of All Time" lists I have ever read, both professional and amateur. Pat Boone?? Nowhere. Time will not be kind to this hack. As I can assure you, my children and their children will only carry respect for the true roots of Rock.

  • @gmu2 Many artists do that. They are called covers. I dont know why you get your panties in a bunch since little richards mr fats domino dont

  • @GLazz85 we hate it because it is a flaccid and white bread mangling of a classic, you numbskull. Pat Boone is a cheesoid.

  • @biglloyddobbs Well moron nobody said it had to be good. Its just funny how tons of artists cover songs and noone cares but if Pat Boone covers a song its a big deal. People who complain about this are just cry babies. I dont like when rap artists cover good songs but its their right to do so. There are 2 rules you should follow when arguing. 1 Do you know what the argument is and in this case you dont and 2 Are you intelligent enough to respond...........again you fall short

  • @GLazz85 Issue here actually is that it is well known that back during this time African American artists were being cheated out of possible profit for their hard work due to their music being stolen and given to white artist. The only difference between now and then with cover songs or if songs were stolen is that there were no laws preventing people from using music without any type of recoupment for original artist. As well as release a song and claim that it is their original work.

  • @JermarcoB91 You are talking about copyright infringement. Copyrights were around in the 1950s so if they had a copyright then they had to get paid. I have heard about what you are talking about from people like Little Richard. However if they would have gotten a copyright then it wouldnt have mattered. If domino had the copyright to this song then he would have gotten paid by Pat Boone. If he didnt and Boone got more money off the same song then its not his fault.

  • @GLazz85 LOL I know what copyright infringement is. I'm just simply stating the obvious and what other people are trying to say on here in a more educated manner. If that was the case here or not I couldn't care less really. All I'm saying is that everyone knows a bunch of dirty dealings were happening during that time. And yes even though copyrights were around during that time they were still in their early stages and weren't being enforced until the copyright laws got revamped in the 70's.

  • @JermarcoB91 I appreciate the educated responses. Business was dirty because people werent educated. If the black singers of this era were educated then they would have gotten the copyrights and made millions. Unfortunately dirty lawyers and managers took advantage of them and they got nothing. However anyone can educate themselves which is why I do not sympathize with them. The copyright law was revamped in 1976 but its been around since 1790. It sux it happened but thats life

  • @GLazz85 It wasn't really dirty business. When a black artist back then made a hit in the R&B charts, what big labels will do is make a cover album with a white person who's more appealing to the mass audience and sanitizes the song so theres no accent. I'm not sure if covering a song is illegal or not because I know that many rock bands covered Chuck Berry's song "Johnny B Goode"

  • @yangmeister666 The term dirty is objective. Maybe not to you but to me taking advantage of people is dirty. Not to say they werent in the legal confines to do so because they were. Ethics always comes last when it comes to money.

  • this sucks. he sings, "aint that a shame, my tears fell like rain.", with a great big grin on his face.

  • fats liked this version

  • Wait, why don't people like this version? Dude can sing.

  • Please Don't use the F word. My goodness. All you had to say is I don't like this song. I don't think he did a bad job. But that is just me.

  • If you all can sing this song better let me see it on YouTubes if not stop putting Pat Boone down. Thank you

  • Comment removed

  • Guess black people can sing better in this case

  • This performance sucks but this is not his original recording.Look we all know ,Fats Domino did the ultimate recording[pure magic] but Pat Boone`s version[original] was not at all bad. This was a typical type of sound of the period & I am not kidding you 'girls loved Pat Boone & this song plus all of his other recordings,he was a very big star, although not really a rocker.

  • I actually like this version of the song. He had a great voice, I will not deny that. I just wish that artists like this didn't get most if not all of their popularity by playing songs that were originally written and performed by others.

  • that was kind of creepy!

  • what a crap. he killed this song.

  • its not a really happy song and he seems like queer happy hahahaha if that makes sense to anyone

  • @bighead29058 thats what i was thinking too! :D

  • for you, Ulla in Hinterwössen

  • PAT BOONE FUCKED THIS SONG UP, HE SHOULD GIVE CREDIT TO THE LEDGEND LIL RICHARD.... HE TRIED TO STEAL THIS SONG AND IT SHOWED HE FUCKED THIS UP WITHOUT THE VASILINE

  • @sierria64 LOL -- but it was Fats Domino, not Little Richard.

  • And he's STILL going strong and looks terrific...He's hosting the TEA PARTY in Beverly Hills next month!!! YOU GO BOY~~~~~

  • @Taharah007 REALLY, WONDER SHOULD HE DOES NOT CALL THE TEA PARTY GET TOGETHER A KKK RALLY... OH YES I SAID IT. MY PARENTS WERE FREEDOM RIDERS IN THE 1960'S THEY WERE THE ONES WHO DESEGREGATED THE LUNCH COUNTER WITH CONGRESSMAN JOHN LEWIS.. MY DAD AND MOM MARRIED WHEN IT WAS ILLEGAL FOR BLACKS AND WHITES TO GET MARRIED..MY DAD SYAS THAT THEY MET PAT IN THE 1960'S . he's a racist .....my dad now a attorney in atlanta... tells the story of pat boone....hated race the mixing

  • fag

  • @MrCheekyotter Hardly...He married at a very young age the beautiful daughter of legendary country music singer Red Foley...and they (Shirley and Pat) have four beautiful daughters....He is DEFINATELY NOT a HOMOSEXUAL!!!! He is very clean cut and sincere, not to mention TALENTED!

  • @Taharah007 he ruined the song nontheless

  • Lame

  • Check out Pat's weird shoulder twitch. Is he fighting off the satanic urge to gyrate his hips?

  • It was a popular version only truely becasue he wasn't negro....sadly

  • seriously i can't understand how ppl can like this cover ^^

it feels like pat boone thought like "oh i can sing this song" and tried to make some own accents, in which he absolutely failed imo, as it goes in a completely wrong direction.

no offence to those who like it, but this is the worst cover or misinterpretation of a song i've ever heard ^_^

  • @PONYBOY430 I love Canada, I live in Canada, but please learn to spell "Canadian" for goodness sakes. Some Canadians gotta stop being jealous with Americans.

  • Fats Domino dominates<3

  • Good God... apparently this is the only video allowed on youtube. INC. I guess the lawyers are the one to blame................................

  • Great version and the one that sold the most. Hard to understand the hatred from morons writing in about this song. If you hate it so much go listen to a version you like.

  • @CarlDuke I can't!!

  • @PONYBOY430 Canadians weren't rebels in the 50s, i aint ever heard of a canadian rock n roll singer

  • I bet he was a racist thinkin' that the black music (e.g. stuff like this) should've been made for the white market and that's why he did this...

  • Pat Boone, as awful as his covers were, was very instrumental in getting rock 'n roll accepted among white folk. His versions of the rock n roll classics were what got them exposure and ultimate success. And for doing that, he was a brilliant capitalist. I have respect for Pat Boone.

That said, this is disgraceful. Long live Fats Domino and his far superior version of this song.

  • What's a shame is that he made a career from taking black music, butchering it, and putting a white face on it. Yeah, it's a shame Pat. Explain that to God you hypocritical bastard.

  • Why is he smiling, to these lyrics?

"Ain't that a shame, my tears fell like rain"

    Looks like an idiot.

  • I actually kinda like it :)

  • Cheap Trick did good to this song

  • @555bean555 no they didnt you suck, fats domino is the man

  • @anibeastly i dont have any hates on Fats, Cheap Trick is good with this song, with Robin Zanders vocals

  • It's amazing that he actually charted higher than Fats Domino did with it. That was the United States in the 1950's though. Fortunately history knows this is Fats Domino's song. Wow...did Pat ever suck the soul out of this one though.

  • @kevjoseph Well yes but he's so much better looking than that Fats Domino, let's face it!

  • @kevjoseph its cuz hes fuckin white, it was still the 1950s.

  • Pat Boone really knows how to ruin great songs

  • It doesn't matter what all you haters say about him. You know he got that 50's pussy

  • Pat Boone used to Cover songs by talented Black Artist's and butcher them. but doing that time period his stuff outsold what we call Classic versions today. Like Fats Domino, Little Richard, etc. Just Becuase Pat Boone was white, his music would out sell the originals by black singers. Of course today those black artist's are considerd legends while pat boone is considered a washed up songstealer.

  • This is embarrassingly putrid. I'll bet when he sees this stuff today he gets shudders up his spine.

  • This is crap, fats was so much better. This guy has no soul in this song, ain't that a shame.

  • :D ahah i like

  • Better than fats domino althogh he is a great pianist and composer but not an extrodinary singer

  • What a waste of singing of a great classic by Fats Domino..but, that was all that racist crap back then when white singers would try to out do all the great black recording artists...Fats was the best !!!!!!

    Raymond....Pittsburgh, PA

  • He seems pretty chipper for having his heart broken.

  • Judge not, lest you be judged. That said, what happened happened. These comments defending what happened back then don't change the fact that white 'artists' had the power to do what they did, not the right to.

  • yes it is

  • Poor Fats Domino's song is being crippled. :P

  • @ZeldaKrazy aint that a shame

  • I like Fats better, but this really isn't so bad. Plus, if not for Pat, Fats Domino may not even have been discovered so much. Know what I mean?

  • Sing it out, soul man! (lol). When this record hit the charts, it was Pat's version they played, but now it's pretty much ignored in favor of Fats' rendition. Thank goodness for that.

  • Talk about massacring a great song! Fats version is TEN THOUSAND TIMES BETTER!!

  • True, true!! Unlike Tutti Frutti, where I believe his was the best version, Pat did murder this song here. Fats sings this WAAAYYY better. Just the wrong sound

  • uh. is it me or can he not sing?

  • 'Pat Boone Chevy Show' (was the youngest ever to have his own TV show) And he did great things for black music...Like Fats Domino who no White Person who had ever heard of til Pat Released Aint that a shame then Fats re-released it and got a #1 hit! So there ya go!

  • @mikegoons you seem to really be mistaken man...of course racism was around back then...things you must understand is that he was 19 yrs old when he made his first single and was raised in Nashville...he himself said he didnt understand the whole racism back then... And yes he did share the stage with those signers on his show

  • This was definitely Fats' song

  • Does anyone have the october sky part with this song? i luv that part

  • well.... at least he seemed to enjoy himself.....??......*awkward coughing*.....

  • Is American Idol contestant Tim Urban channeling Pat???

  • What's with all the bozos watching this video who say they hate this guy? If you hate him why are you watching him? Get a life.

  • The thing that stinks is, it was some producer's idea for Pat Boone to try singing R&B/R&R songs like Ain't That A Shame and Tutti Frutti. It's just not a style that he has any aptitude for, and the heavily sanitized arrangements are doing him no favors either.

On the other hand, the heavy metal album he did in the late 90's, I still think is a lot of fun.

  • @factorof13 Wow, never saw so many bigots in one place! It works both ways you know. Well, of course you don't know, what was I thinking.

  • Coming from a white guy, I'd like to say this to any black people watching this video: I am so, so, so sorry.

  • Fats Domino singing it was better

  • poor pat boone. he's trying his hardest. and he just sucks.

  • I HATE Pat Boone. I HATE HIM!!!!

  • No soul or emotion in his voice... just a plastic smile on his face.

  • farewell!

  • I just read that Pat Boone wanted the part of Jake Holman in "The Sand Pebbles", but Steve McQueen got it. Pat Boone would've destroyed the movie. But he was good in "Journey to the Center of the Earth".

  • pat really fucked this classic up

  • @sierria64 WE, from the 50's, DO NOT USE SUCH LANGUAGE!!! SHAME SHAME SHAME!!!

  • @Taharah007 oh , yuo from the 1950's were and are tight assed and why arent u dead yet .. you must be 75 or more at least 1000 years old.... fuck yo we from the 1950's anyway that time sucked for blacks in america thaks to my dad and mom a white/black couple who were freedom riders ,with congressman john lewis those are who i look up to....they are the reason why the us has changed for the best..rasist dont matter ant more

  • @Taharah007 pat boone should have bent over and let lil richard stick it .. he fuscked up this song

  • @sierria64 his face looked pretty constipated and fucked up

  • @shanson786

Fats probably didn't receive any royalties for this song. The recording companies didn't pay on a per spin basis for the music back then. And Pat does ruin this song.
