@lawrence096 Not sure if anyone else answered this, but yes. Delay pedals, particularly analog ones, make great sounding reverb, usually with high number of repeats, low volume, and low interval.
@menesplohni Exactly. Otherways you'll get the delay distorted too and that sounds awful. Also, if you put the4 distortion through the head, put the delay after the head, but before the cab. ;)
this pedal is embarrassingly cheap ..i have a univox tape echo, a ibanez ad-202, the carbon copy, the memory boy, and have owned an original ad-9 and arion sad-1 an a dod fx 90..
obviously i LOVE analog delay .. that said after getting this as a 'throw in" for a trade i was just amazed that this little 40 dollar peice of crap can hold it's own against them ..
Hmm i've got the DR600 and i wasn't that fussed with it but i did have my eye on the VD400, love the oscillation solo btw ;) for £20 you can't argue for what you get i guess.
i'm a heterosexual man myself, but i fucking love all your demo's. i've judged about 90% of my pedal board and guitars through your videos. and i'm really happy with all of them. thanks for the videos and everything.
@doodlin17 It didn't go crazy. Any good delay pedal gives you those sounds when you play with the mix, feedback and delay time controls. And it's something actually usable, I've heard it thousands of times as intros to songs. But yeah, it's a matter of taste.
@mariorossipuzza He just lets it oscillate and then plays around with the time, if you put a manual flanger after that in your effect chain you can do some crazy stuff.
@rokkenroll Shouldnt the flanger go first, because u would want the flange to be echoed, and not the echo to be flanged? Is it preference or is one better than the other?
@theShowStopper321 If you put the flange before the delay it will just get lost in the oscillation, when you put it afterwards you can the wawes of the oscillation with the flanger.
Bro...your totally killin me at 7:28 haha!! Huge respect for the self crafted effects there ~ not dissin on ya by any means :) Im totally thankful for your reviews and you're a cool guy. Makes me wanna jump and shut the amp off like "Oh shit! Something's fryin'!!1" ~ Kudos to you friend, if you can use that sound in a song or performance, lol.
Again, youre reviews are totally good and thanks. Im a reggae guy so seein what this pedal can do around 6:15 is crucial ~ Ive already ordered one -Thx!
I've got Artec Analog Delay. It sounds similar but it has MXR like metal case, BOSS DS-1 like knobs, DPDT true bypass and it costs 10$ more than VD400.
anybody have any suggestions for me as to which of the behringer delay pedals I should go for? I am looking for something simple that will work well with a Boss DS-1 Classic Distortion Pedal.
They're not the same effect really. Yes they're both delays but you get them for different reasons. The digital delay can give you a longer delay (think Bloc Party-Flux chorus) while analog are far shorter but much more atmospheric, warmer sounding and have the fun benefit of nice sounding self-oscillation (some digi delays can osciallate but its not as usable, trust me)
hey mike do you use a behringer power supply for your vd 400? mine won't work with regular power supply.. work with 9 v battery, or maybe it's only work with behringer power supply
The Behringer stuff can sound really fine. I bought the UV300 vibrato and it's great. Truly. From what I gather the simpler designs are generally good but the more compex offerings (the multi fx one, for example) suffer more from the effects of tight costing in production.
The irony is that I keep stamping on it really hard out of an unsconscious desire to test it's casing. Would I treat my higher priced/vintage pedals that way - nope!!
can't believe nobody answered that for you. soundwise, the difference is that with an analogue delay, the repeats go darker and slightly distorted, but with a digital delay, they stay pristine all the way. that's pretty much it. oh, digital delays usually have a longer delay option than analogues.
that's what i hate about youtube... people thinking they have to apologise for showing a preference. if you prefer digital you prefer digital, end of story!
Mike, awesome demo as usual. My band was looking for a cheap delay solely for our bassist to use for oscillation on one song, and I think this is it! I would have never thought to look into Behringer's pedals, so thanks again.
it is analog, and so what if its cheap, its a good starter. not everybody is a millionaire
