  • Oh my God, we have been following dog listener training with our dog for months but it wasn't till I saw this video that the final piece of the puzzle fell into place. In a matter of days it is now a joy to walk our dog.

  • I really think even the dog whisperer wouldnt get my lab to walk to heel :( lol

  • but as soon as we get out on the street shes a different dog alltogether shes pulled me over pulled my arm out hurt my hip and so now as it stands I have to drive to where we are going then let her of the lead (where again she is brilliant) ive tried the stop start .. change direction... the police dog training way (where they pull hard on the lead when changeing direction) various harnesses and haltis (she still pulls with them on) and had extra 1 to 1 help with my dog trainer and nothing works

  • nice video it's good to see a video whee a dog pulls AT THE START of the video not demonstrating on dogs who already know how to walk properly lol.. thing is I have tried every technique in the book with my labrador shes 18 months old now and im unable to walk her on lead shes too strong for me (she does stage 1 perfectly) coz we go to dog training classes since she was 12 weeks old.. shes in advanced class and walks to heal on and off lead with distractions P E R F E C T L Y lol

  • I've been struggling to get my two springer littermates (5 months old) to walk on a loose leash. I've read countless websites and books and tried a spectrum of techniques to little avail. Your video looks very convincing and I like your approach so that is where we start tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

  • does the dog still follow you off lead too?

  • @mavuk100 They are still getting exercise, I took each out for hours a day and played ball with them in the home. The point is that they on the last day they got less exercise than the first and they were loads calmer!

  • very good video!

  • My Daughters dogs (Spaniel and Fox Terrier) stay with me at my home on an irregular basis. The Spaniel just chills out, nothing bothers her! Poor Rosie though suffers from separation anxiety from my Daughter. Any ideas on this please. Rosie is 4 years old, and its dreadful to watch her. Thank you. Love your teachings with Dogs, HATE that Mexican (American) chap who is so cruel to the Animals.

  • Can this technique be used for dogs bred to hunt, where they would always be out in front of the pack? I have a basset hound and she always walks ahead of us, most of the time with her nose to the ground, and obviously wherever the scent she has goes, so does she. We were told by a local dog behaviourist that bassets will never be the type of dog that will walk by your side because of this.

  • For 4 weeks I have been trying to teach my Boxer-Lab-Mix to walk reaxed on a leash with technique I read about. A lot of bruises on the fingers later I found your video.. I haven't even used your technique for 2 full days yet but it is a difference like day and night already. I am confident that by the end of this week we will be able to have a nice long walk. :-)

  • Great video, very helpful... Cheers from Canada

  • My dog is part Lab and part Boxer. He is very excitable. Training him among a bunch of other dogs is a challenge but at home, it seems to work better. My trainer believes in the choke collar. I love this video and will do it your way at home. Less stress on me and my dog.

  • Excellent video, well produced and sound advice!

  • Great video! I recommend it to all my dog training and dog walking clients here in the USA!

  • Yes I did! nudge nudge, wink wink, elbow, elbow :) I also shared this on my facebook page and have my female agility clients fancying you now too.

  • Excellent Video Nigel! I use the same techniques. I love the bit where you demonstrate not training your dog when you are in a rush! Something that most fail with. Patience and consistancy rules!

  • There is light at the end of the tunel .

  • This is an example of great dog training - and - presented in a terrific video! Thank you from Colorado!

  • BEFORE YOU START STAGE 1. PLEASE WALK UP AND DOWN THE HOUSE WITH THE DOG OFF LEAD WITH FOOD REWARD TO SEE IF HE FOLLOWS YOU. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT AS IF HE DOES NOT HAPPILY FOLLOW YOU AND HEEL THEN HE IS NOT READY FOR STAGE 1. SPEND TIME ON THIS AND TAKE IT SLOWLY

  • Finally, a GREAT video on training loose leash walking. Ive been looking everywhere for this. Thank you!! It is my fault because im not being 100% consistent with him, so i let him lead sometimes and others i want to lead. I realize it doesnt work that way. Quick Question: How long TOTAL HOURS were you working with these dogs??

  • Very nicely done! I can't wait for more video tutorials! You can get the dog to do as you ask while respecting him at the same time - fantastic.

  • Great video, thanks! I like the idea to let the dogs stroll freely. Dogs are our friends, we should treat them like friends.

  • Very nice

  • Wow. The first video I've found that looks like it will work and for all the right reasons!

  • hi, met you in elthorne pk today, just watched it, very pro very simple, will pass your name on to a few dog friends! good luck with the new student. julie and coed.

  • Very Well Made Video. Thanks A lot for the free lesson for us newbies, it takes a lot of "beeing human" to share things for free these days. Thank You.

  • Great video, very well put together. Don't have a dog, but I can see how these techniques might be effective for 4 and 1 year old daughters, who seem to want to be the leaders of our house pack.

Thanks Nigel, ever thought of doing one for kids and toddlers?

  • nice video. i had no idea dogs behaved like this for these reasons

  • Really great! I bet it is good for dog owners psychologically too. Makes me think raising a couple of puppies wouldn't be too much.

  • Enjoyed the video - will try it out on Rudi and give you feedback. Cheers

  • Great video clip - explains perfectly how to stop your dog pulling on the lead with out using any force :)

  • Good video. Very informative and seems simple compared to other techniques

  • just got an image of people stuffing their pockets with sausages

  • This is a great film with sound advice. Makes perfect sense to scrap the choke chains and let your dog enjoy feeling relaxed on a walk. Every dog owner should check this out! Nice production too!

  • Really good video - simple theory but clearly very effective and well explained.

  • Nigel

Great video - very clear. It would work with my kids too, don't know about Millie and Ruby but they look pretty busy too! How many shirts do you need to train a dog? Your 'wardrobe' is Lady Gagaesque in proportion.

I'll send this to some mates with dogs!

    Giles

  • Awesome video mate, keep it up fella x

  • Nige, great film and thank you so much, Millie and Ruby changed for ever after meeting you!! After years of being dragged about by them can't believe how fast and effective your techniques are. Can't recommend you highly enough. Helen

  • @helentravis No probs Helen, It was a pleasure meeting them and you, keep up the good work and call any time :)
