I discovered the erhu when I was in Taipei, Hong Kong and Shanghai back in the 80's. I took lessons from Lei Qiang for over 4 years. Never could get the Chinese sound, we often played American folk songs (me on guitar and him with his erhu) Unfortunately he now lives in Las Vegas playing in the orchestra for the Cirque de Soleil, so we don't play anymore. I do some primitive American folk stuff on the erhu but that's about it. I would still love to be able to play it properly.

The erhu has two strings and the bow goes between the strings.
