there's a filmmaking glitch. during the conversations, it seems that the dialogues by both the women and the man have been spoken at different times. also, it seems as if the man is seeing the girl lip-sync. who has her hair tied, when she sees the man, and hair straight when the man sees her.
Good way to maintain steadiness, and be able to do good editing, but somehow the whole thing was distracting me.
@kannan80m Lol true. But dominant people need puppies like that and puppies find the ability to to dominate and take control very attractive. That's what I have observed.
This is how arranged marriages work in big cities and highly educated societies. The bride and the groom are given the liberty to see as many people as they like, talk to them and pick the one they want to marry. No body gets married to the first person their parents show.
Great couple. Honestly, for those who are under any misconceptions, this is how arranged marriages are in big cities and well educated societies. The bride and groom are given the liberty to get to know several people and then decide who they want to marry. Nobody is forced to get married to te one person their parents show.
I appreciate the film from an acting perspective. Words usually sound nicer, when spoken in the films, but things happens quite differently in a real life. As the uploader states that 90% of the marriages in India are still arranged, the divorce rate is less, not because of the marriage is arranged, rather India has roots of least divorce which prevents in frequent divorce. Arranged marriage has nothing to do with that.
And as cashewnutcracker said in previous comment, divorce rates are very less because in Hindu law, one has to wait 6 months to get divorce. And its only the educated and rich - middle class women who fight against their abusive husbands who harass them and get divorce. Most of lower income class men drink everyday and beat up their wives and the women continue to live with such husbands. They just accept it as fate.
None of the arranged marriages in India happen this way. Its just guy and his family come to meet girl and her family. They first talk on dowry and once that's settled, its only then the guy actually sees the girl. Its usually a yes or no on the guy's part by looking at the girl's face. The girl isn't really given any choice by their parents. Except for some 10 % of the upper middle class to rich people in urban areas, the girl and the boy never talk to each other before marriage.
Seriously? Maybe divorces are not common in India because Hindu law did not permit divorce until a few decades ago and divorce is still frowned upon terribly. Perhaps divorce is not common because women stay in abusive or at the least oppressive marriages because that is what society has told them their worth is. Do some arranged marriages work? Sure, though perhaps more by chance than anything else, not because there is something objectively better about them.
such a nice flim.. Enjoyed.. watched the 3 rd time... Amazing acting and to find the love and kindness hidden in the girl inspite of her dominating appearance.. Good job by the male actor..
The guy orders a coffee & the gal orders a tea. How keen the director is in depicting their characters!!!!. "10 out of 10". Actors are just amazing in their characters.
Well made clip..i disagree with some point of the girl but you also cannot expect somebody specially girl will expose her privacy to a guy she meets first time in life and the marriage isn't decided and i believe both partners should have the equal right to question unlikely in india where majority girls are even not asked about their marriage ,the boys have all the privilege.I must conclude for the country like current india arrange marriages are best and reliable .

@braj87 : Well, it is reliable in India only to those families who adore the concept of Arranged Marriage and are passionate about it and even value it more than Love Marriage. Arranged Marriages are not best for people who are brought up with a non-arranged, high-ambitious, self-supporting kind of society. Because the latter usually keeps Arranged Marriage as a sort of back-up for their life, which in one way sounds selfish.
i think they fell in love without even realizing it. sometimes a conversation can really bring out a spark to both people that eventually lead to romance. i think this one is sweet and realistic :)
When there are conditions there is no true unconditional love ! Most Arranged marriages are full of conditions...Caste, Religion, Family Background, Good Job, Good Looks, Huge Dowry etc etc.
This girl is an ideal representation of urban women class in the modern Indian society. A manipulative witch making a pappu of all the guys out there. Guys need to be careful while dealing with these kind of women.
The girl acts like a boss, at least bossing him around right from the initial meeting. Imagine what would it be if they were to get married? The guy would be led like a puppy. Find it funny that the girl can ask "private questions" while the guy can't. If I were the guy, I would have left as soon as she said "no private questions".
me being a designer...i wud say its well crafted & the technicals are really good, I even liked the ending & the main theme that arranged marriages are more successful. But frankly saying, I really didn't like the girl's attitude....it was really lukin like 1 of her pshycatric session with a patient as mentioned by the guy. And come on....it cud have been a bit more casual.
This is a really nice video. well I am not a technical person to say but there are some things which could have added more effect just as giving a close up specially from 9 Minute :44 Second till 9M:51S. I am not sure how did the camera moved (may be got shake) at 9M:50S but overall its really really great presentation. 9.5 out of 10.
No offense intended. So nobody should take it like that. But for somebody outside the Indian culture, this is one sad video and awful sad idea it represents. I believe that marriage should be out of love, when you fall in love with somebody...not like going on a job interview to pick a husband. The idea of spending your life with somebody..just cuz you like the same way to make a steak is beyond sad. I guess some people will never know what true love is.
@andreea81 Every Society has a different culture. The Indian Society are based on different values. So people belonging to other cultures wont understand this. Same applies to us as well. Many people here in India will not understand your culture too.
@andreea81 The definition of love is wide and you just cannot go ahead and claim that people who marry through arrange marriage cannot find true love. If you come and stay here in India, you will be surprised to know that married couples here are most deeply in love compared to other countries.
You cant know and understand a culture without being a part of it.
@raulverma there is NO LOVE between most of the MARRIED COUPLES especially ARRANGED married couples!! there is ONLY LUST ! FUCK FUCK n FUCK IS ALL THEY KNOW AND DO ! THATS WHY INDIAN POPULATION IS THE SECOND HIGHEST ! NO. OF ABORTIONS OF CHILDREN IS ALSO THE HIGHEST ! TRUE LOVE is a word related to TRUE LOVERS ONLY ! A TRUE RELATIONSHIP is that in which the EYES and HEARTS MEET FIRST and NOT bodies !! In INDIA, people SECRETLY have EXTRA MARITAL AFFAIRS ! Atleast people abroad r frank !
And who told you that people in the Western countries marry out of LOVE? They think they marry out of love while that isn't the case for the most part, why do you think the Western society is crumbling today with more and more divorces happening and the courts screwing over young men to pay more than half off their paycheck as alimony, etc etc. Let me tell you something, I have friends that don't ever want to marry a Western woman
Also, it seems like you have never stepped foot outside India because if you come to the West, you would know that 98% of the women in the West cheat on their spouses and have extra marital affairs, I know none of my family or friends who have done the same in India, however, over here it's extremely common. You could be living in a huge mansion and provide your Western wife with everything yet she would still cheat on you citing a mid life crisis or something of that sort.
@raulverma "married couples here are most deeply in love compared to other countries." -- not because of Arranged Marriage, but because of their root culture, where at times couples even adjusted and dragged a relationship, though they never loved. Happiness in relation depends on how the couple can forgive and still accept each other, irrespective of their flaws. Arranged Marriage has nothing to do in that. Finding true love is sheer luck, never depends on whether a marriage is love or arranged
@andreea81 Yes i agree true love exists only between true lovers ! In India, People secrelty have extra marital affairs. Atleast people abroad frankly speak about what they do ! INDIANS RESPECT ONLY SPOUSE AND NEGLECT AND SEPERATE LOVERS !!!
Also define TRUE LOVE. I observe it everyday here in the West, people just marry because of societal pressure if they see their friends getting married, or marry because they need someone to support their meagre incomes, and a huge number of them marry because they give birth to children out of wedlock, is that TRUE LOVE? If your partner is picked based on what car he drives or how much money he makes, how is that TRUE LOVE. You seem to live in an imaginary world
@slashslayerfly Hello! thank you for replying! I didnt say people in the west r true lovers! I made only general statements about true love and arrange marriage! I dont support any country as they ve both merits n demerits. In India too, people marry for various reasons. Nobody is genuine. People r committed only to their spouse. They happily neglect n forget lover after they get married. They love 1 person n marry another. This is also fraud. Most of the elders r known to seperate lovers.
@slashslayerfly I see only a good heart. True Love is Unconditional Caring! Please see the youtube video on true love. i dont see status or good looks. But most of the Indians see all this. Most of them r fake here too. Only 2 to 5% of people r genuine. Extra marital affairs exist everywhere. Its done more secretly here. Atleast people over there speak about it frankly sooner or later.
People think arranged marriages in India mean the parents are forcing their son/daughter to marry someone they don't know. Its not like that. The bride and groom meet and even date before the wedding and can always choose to not get married. it's a cold soup that warms up over time.
its really awesome..... i remember my first date with my Hubby. it was sort of like this...........and now we are happily married for more than 4 years........a strong believer in arrange marriage......
Really AWESOME video. You guys are very witty when conversing :) Btw Areesz you're a really good actor. I honestly enjoyed watching it. I think it was worth spending 12.07 minutes of my precious life. Superb and keep it up! :D
@actionareesz u may like arranged marriages..but mister, did u forget that arranged marriages are where DOWRY is encouraged??y dint u speak of disadvantages of arranged marriages here?more than qualities, materialistic things are considered in arranged marriages, like properties, salaries, backgrounds etc..thank god i dint have one..
areesz acting's great. but what awful characters. he's a doormat, she's a witch, and she needs acting lessons!! nars krishnamachari, what were you thinking!
very nice. i like watching these types of films only which have certain element to it. u acted well. really impressive. Keep up the good work. Looking forward for some more vids like these.
I loved it. I think there is a good middle ground. The US makes marriage so much about love that it has become more about infatuation. Marriage is like a business contract now in the US, we stay married as long as it is beneficial, if it becomes less beneficial we end it.
This didn't seem like an arranged marriage. It seemed like they could decide they didn't want to get married. That seems more like match making than arranged marriage. Arranged marriage removes choice it would seem.
Its not that I am agreeing with it but it is a superbly crafted depiction of verbal and non verbal communication, the end was a bit too early. Acting was good for the total setup. Excellent work overall
Thank You Guys....All of You...its really overwhelming to receive such great responses. And as for the other girl who comes in the end of the film is supposed to be the main girl's sister.
@actionareesz Hey, c'mon YOU of all the people cannot get it wrong!
The girl is an only child (remember, when discussing about living with parents, and she puts her foot down to say no!!!)
She could be a cousin or a close friend but definitely not the sister of the girl! (Sorry to jump in but I just am sooooo in love with this video that I cannot stop watching it AND analysing it)
well I can echo what everyone has already said, great job... I loved it .... However I do feel that the stats at the end might not depict the true picture..... maybe the numbers are from the previous generation and I think the divorce rate was a lot lower then since females didn't have much of an option.... pretty sad I know...
Nonetheless recently I have started to realize that love marriages are as much a failure as arranged.... but then again umeed par duniya kayam hai ;) go fall in love

i and my friends are one those people who are right now stuck on the crossroads of life regarding marriage and actually deciding whether to go for arranged marriage or continue searching for somebody and this film brings about a very realistic approach to it... excellent work especially the actors..
Great clip and very well made and all the actors have doen their part very well-- thouroughly enjoyed it--all the best--hope the succes rate inceases even better
Excellent on screen presentation, when he asks what makes you happy, see her facial expressions!!! The guy is very natural and the entire execution is just awesome!!!!
Very good video. Really enjoyed it. In the initial part of the conversation there is a bit of coldness which gradually turn to comfort. I am currently living in England and talk about this to my British friends often.
Nice acting
But one question
Who is the other girl who turns up at the end of the video? What is her character? What she says is not clear.
nice..

This was one beautiful video.. although the basic premise is something I can't relate to, the smaller elements of it are amazing.
It comes together so wonderfully! Oh, and before I forget.. you guys were simply awesome!!
Cheers!

Thank You Guys....All of You...its really overwhelming to receive such great responses. And as for the other girl who comes in the end of the film is supposed to be the main girl's sister.
actionareesz 9 months ago

A highly debatable topic, I must say!!! Though my thoughts on it are quite different, it was a well made short and I liked it.
Nicely done, Areesz!! Keep it going. : o )
