  • KENNY ROGERS !! great voice !!

  • Christ, that's ugly - Another white middle-class hijack of black music.

  • better than d original version...kenny rogers got a good voice to bring d song to life

  • love this tune.

  • They are the three oldest singers to chart songs at number 1. Willie, then Kenny, then Dolly age wise

  • good song pity about the quality of the sound its all fizzy poppy and crackly i had to turn my volume up quite high to hear it and the interference is very loud also

  • LOVE IT <3

  • Every child on the planrt should learn this song before they learn to speak!!

  • OH MY GOSH!! this song floods back my beautiful childhood memories when it was just me, my mom n my baby sister....im almost in tears, have n't heard it in decades! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HAVING IT!

  • this song make everything so much nicer this song is true

  • i just love the song congtts kenny

  • Reduces me to tears everytime i hear it!!

Cruel world we live in! Always someone trying to bring you down!

As long as find that something inside so strong together! x

  • one of the best song ever

  • I think that "Something inside so strong" is recorded in the album which is called "Something Inside So Strong (1989)".

I love this song which is sung by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton and Willi Nelson better than that original song which is recorded in the album .

I love this song very much!!

    Thanks for sharing."

  • Think This Is a Good Version :)

  • Luv the song .... but no one comes close to the original Labi Siffre , he gives it with feeling.

  • I love this video. I think it means more seriousness to kenny than to dolly and willie

  • Kenny recorded the song solo (with a choir) on his 1989 album "Something Inside So Strong" so he was much more familiar with the song.

Willie looks a little lost a couple of times (although, to be fair, the song is not in his key)

  • It's just not a willie song either. Willie was an outlaw country singer, and this borderlines country on the pop end.

  • I loved the show. At the end I find it interesting that while the credits roll over their singing and the promos come up for following shows, they're talking about exposing O'Hare for being an easy target for terrorist. This was 1989!

  • The lady that comes out to sing is Rise Joiner Peters. She went to HSPVA, she was a prominent member of the Southeast Inspirational CHoir of Houston, TX. She put out a solo CD, and she sang backup for Yolanda Adams.

  • I love how Kenny sang it with the growl thing... I think he sang it better than labi Siffre....

  • i have to agree

  • awsome there the best ever

  • Seems many are missing the point, we all have the power inside ourselves to change for the better if we want or so choose to. When a group comes together it attracts more groups therefore sending good thoughts to make a change. Hadn't scene this show, what a piece of history, right there.

  • Man has always had this power and chosen not to use it for good.

  • True, Isn't that sad, but we positive beings with this great power can and will make the change so many long for... Bless you and all

  • Music with soul

  • whats with the pointing? and i love willy in the suit!

  • Whenever I hear Kenny Rogers voice I get shivers and tingles down my spine!!

Thank you so much for posting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great footage! thanks for posting.

  • Thank you for sharing this. Amazing song and a unique collection of stars singing. the Choir makes the song so haunting.

As a Kenny fan, I remember this tv special (T recorded it on VHS tape). But I also remember it for the voice over during the credits for the movie "I Know My First Name is Steven" a sad story of child abduction.

  • now the one that steals the show is the sistuh that comes out at the very end...the woman can sang...

  • Anybody else notice that Willie's voice is almost completely drowned out? Its a shame, he's a great singer, in his own unique way, as Dolly and Kenny are, but he's just too quiet to compete with a gospel choir AND a troop of boy scouts (or whatever they are). Plus, he looks sooooo uncomfortable in that suit....I say let him wear his jeans, t-shirt and plait! lol :)

  • Yeah Willie in a suit is just WRONG.

  • i dont see that willie really want to be there in the first place...i dont even know it he likes the song....

he even claps on the one...instead of the two....

yes ...his mike is way down...but he also holds it far away...as well..

and miss dolly...just is not giving her all in this song as she can so well do...

    just my opinion

  • i agree. it misses the magic that normally is inevetably there when kenny and dolly sing together. And indeed willie doesn't seem to be very happy.

All 3 are graet singers though! and i really love to hear their voices!

  • Unlike the rest of this special, which was GREAT, this performance seemed to me like a cheap attempt to plug Kenny's then-current single, and since neither Dolly nor Willie were on that record, there wasn't a lot for them to do here. It would have been nice if the THREE of them could have chosen a BRAND NEW song (w/each of them getting a solo verse and then joining on a chorus). Perhaps they could have even released something like that as a single to country radio.

  • I like it myself. Good song, good message. I think people are over analyzing it. How can anything with such video montages be a "cheap attempt to plug Kenny's then-current single". The song and message is spot on, Kenny was right in his introduction.

  • I somehow don't think dolly suits this song. She a country singer and she's trying her hardest to simplify her voice for the chorus. It works with Kenny,as his voice is rather simple, but dolly is used to working hard on the songs she does. She even trying to simplify her voice for the strains.

  • clearly you havent herd much of kenny's material... his voice is not "simple", just listen to "somethings burning", "highway flyer", "the hoodin' of miss fanny deberry", etc, etc... having heard a lot of material of both of them, I would say Rogers has a voice where he works a lot harder on a lot of songs, but can ALSO use his voice in a simple way too, not just the latter.

  • The singers make or break a song, so one has to analyse their performance in order to distribute credit for the song being well-received or otherwise. If a song isn't sung well, it doesn't matter what the lyrics are saying, because no one will be paying a blind bit of notice.

  • i you dont feel a song...it dosent matter...how great of a singer you are....

it just will not come thru if the passion is not there in the first place...

  • this is true.

  • Forget about the singers as individuals. The way they present this song, with incerpts including a promise by Archbishop Desmond Tutu that the oppressed shall be free, is inspiring to all who long for a better world.

  • Willie Nelson is such a great singer!!!.... Loved him in the Dukes a Hazard 2!! He so huggable!!

  • Amazing! You can hardly hear Willie, but Dolly and Kenny are singing their asses off!! I am biased, cause I'm the HUGEST Dolly fan on the planet, so I'm just gonna say they all sang great (even though Dolly is and forever will be the best).....just saying.

  • It seems Willie Nelson is intimidate by Dolly and Kenny. Notice when they are singing the gambler and on the road again, willie nelson doesn't even sing. Notice Willie Nelson's proximity to Kenny and Dolly on this song.

  • Willie Nelson looks like his mum grabbed hin just before he went on stage and made him put on his sunday clothes.

  • ok I understand

  • poor quality

  • Yes, well, it was recorded in 1989 and the tape has been played a million times. Nobody else posted it, so this is a way for people who had not seen it to get a chance to see it, even without perfect quality.

  • Wow Goosebumps lol :0P

  • This actually made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Just simpley brilliant and wen the gospel singer started 2 use the mic was actually a tear jerking moment like the whole song.

  • KENNY ROGERS ROCKS!!

  • Hammersong!!!!! Wow

  • Dolly is the world's sexiest singe! everybody feels her love songs & her sexy´body that i never seen before! you know, beuty begans on dolly & remains forever on her sexybody

  • Dolly is what a perfect woman should be, she got the looks and she got the heart in right place, shes my idol!

  • it was written by the people of south africa

  • I know. That is why we who know the meaning of these words should embrace not the singers themselves but the way they present the song including the promise of Archbishop Desmond Tutu that the oppressed shall be free. Let us all go forward to make this happen.

  • we sing this in quir

  • Same Dolly mom should of recorded it

  • why? she's recorded everything else, leave one.

  • Labi Siffre wrote twrote "(Something Inside) So Strong", an anti Apartheid anthem. His father is a Nigerian.

  • i know this

  • I know. That is why we who know the meaning of these words should embrace not the singers themselves but the way they present the song including the promise of Archbishop Desmond Tutu that the oppressed shall be free. Let us all go forward to make this happen.

  • awsome there the best ever

  • the last time i saw this concert on TV was in 1989...

  • Dolly is Beautifull she is my Mom I love her to death. I love you Mom

  • Gambler2550:

Thanks for uploading this, I had never seen it before. Very pretty arrangement. One can hardly listen to Willie Nelson's voice, Dolly and Kenny were better registered. Please, who wrote this song? The three of them?

  • "(Something Inside) So Strong" was written by Labi Siffre. Kenny recorded it for his 1989 album "Something Inside So Strong," and he sang it with Dolly and Willie for this television special in 1989.

  • Thanks, Gambler2550.
