I was working in Windsor this day. It was the scariest thing I've been part of. We knew what it was, everyone did because we'd been on tornado alert for a week or two at this point. Watching it come and go, it really did look like a giant wall of rain, which we get a LOT of around here. however, the coloring in the clouds and the color of the giant funnel made it more obvious.
actually there is an f6 you can never predict how powerful nature can be who knows maybe one day there will be an f10. now that would probably tear an entire state up
The strength of the tornado doesn't depend of it's size, so please stop saying "wow that's a huge one, it must be an F6" (plus it doesn't even exist). You know the strength only with the damages it caused.
@dragonridley your wrong and i know that for a fact it said all over the news that DAY. It is even on one of my t-shirts i got several weeks after the tornado. And You wouldnt know so shut up
It may have been rated EF4 from the preliminary survey but those ratings are subject to change. It usually takes a day or two to give the official rating and even after that it can be changed. I'm looking at NOAA articles as I type this and they clearly state that this was an EF3.
Or do you mean to say that the National Weather Service somehow got its own rating wrong?
@dragonridley No Matter what you say i know its wrong. One of my good friends is better at weather than you and he says it was EF4. Back off i was there.
I think I might have discovered the source of our disagreement.
I won't go into details but I've read that it is possible for two different groups to survey damage from the same tornado and arrive at two different ratings. Example: One tornado in 1995 was rated F4 by the NWS survey while another survey rated it F5.
So I concede that this tornado may have reached EF4 intensity. Something that could have been confirmed by some surveys but not by others.
dude i live in colorado and i dont even remember this man im such a loser. but the aurora tornado was on my birthday and i live by southlands (the mall that got hit) so im that much of a loser
well, sometimes people are at the wrong place at the wrong time. i live about 10 miles from where this tornado happened. I watched the news, and many people did stop, and pull over to the side of the highway. So yeah, they saw it coming, and most of them stopped. and the rest maybe panicked, or thought they could beat the storm/tornado. I'd probably drive for my life too.
Most of those people probably did not realize what this was. We don't get these very often in this area, especially this big. Driving alongside it, it would have looked like a dark thunderstorm, which we get tons of around March- June.
it was a mild ef-4 oh ya type in man vrs f-5 tornado on the search video there is a guy out there making up a lie saying this tornado was in Kansas and sersiously disrepecting me and our town for my house was hit by this tornado i have declared war on that video and i need your help to bring it down and to make sure that liar never does that agian
My brother was in Greeley at UNC at the time the tornado hit Windsor and the Platteville area. Scary stuff. Thankfully he was ok. Colorado seems to be getting hit more and more by tornadoes lately -Holly, Platteville, Windsor, Ellicott-so it kinda makes me wonder what's goin' on here.
ok.I've heard people say that the last EF5 tornado was may 9th 1999 but I don't understand how this isn't a EF5 tornado I mean look at it over a mile wide. And those people on the freeway I don't know how they couldn't see that tornado so close to them.
May 22, 2008 my house was hit by this thing nothin but foundation i been crying since it hit. Please help my house is gone! nothing but foundation im writing from my dads laptop please help it was an F-3 to a high f-4 for all those people who said it wasnt because in an interview with governer Ritter he said he said it was an F-4 so shut the fuck up damn tourists who thinks its cool who come down and take pictures of me and my family crying outside our whats left of our homes agian please help
Weld County, Colorado is one of the most tornado-prone counties in the continental United States. Don't be surprised, people. I've been up there durning tornado warnings, it can be pretty scary.
During that time, I was having my lunch at school. We only got half of our normal lunch time. But I'm kinda glad they interupted us. We had to be prepared to get under cover.
i went home sick right into the tornado and i was in the basement while my house was torn apart. Now we have nothing left than the lone kitchen wall left and my house before was a huge 900,000 dollar home that is gone it was a high ef-4 becuase my house is nothin but foundation and im typing on my dads laptop! PLease help we are homeless and we need voluinterss please my house is gone which only f-5 tornados do
@endofdays89 A tornado's strenght isn't determined by how big it is, you han have a 100 ft wide F5 or a mile wide F1. The strength is determined by how much it destroys.
@endofdays89 The size of the tornado does not determine the rating on the Fujita scale. The calculations are based upon approximate wind speeds, which are calculated from damage seen in the affected area.
Well I was on a feild trip with my class and now that I see that it was so big I am sooo thankful that I wasnt there lol but I mean we're famous now!!! WHOOHOO this is my chance to be a superstar haha

That waz a crazy Tornado.I wasn't in it but I live in Loveland CO, and it was kind of close to where I was at. My school went under complete lockdown and we couldn't leave da building. Da hail was huge too.
This was scary. I live in greeley almost RIGHT BY highway 34 where it touched down. My mom, sis and I would probably be able to see it out our back window if we weren't in the Denver Doll Emporium. Kosi 101 was on the radio when suddenly we all heard "There was a tornado touchdown in Greeley"or something like it. We were scared out of our minds.Later we heard it was by highway 34. Luckily,it didn't damage our house, but I'm extremely sorry for those who had family members severly injured.
Was that a Bud Light truck flipped over? I bet the first responders responded to that poor truck driver first. I would have, especially after seeing that huge monster.
Dude, was this an f21 or what?
