  • 0:35-1:05; the mouth makes her look like she has a moustache or something. :-/

  • It's hard to tell....is this made with stop-film or is this matting?

  • @jfpinell It was made in like the 70s, so it had to be stop-motion.

  • @uofmrules1 I figured that. It's just that there are parts -like when her hair, etc flies off, it doesn't seem like they could make that happen frame by frame & have them stay in the air. Maybe they got everything tied on strings....? It seems like it would take tons more work than other stop motion skits that have everything stay in contact with the ground. Of course, there's the one about "keeping the park clean" & how they must've had him in a harness. The poor guys who make these

  • @jfpinell I know what you mean. I would love to see a "the making of.." of these skits.

  • @uofmrules1 Come to think of it, I could've sworn this was an early or mid 80's thing. I'm 39 and I don't remember this at all in the '70's. It could be, I just never remember seeing this then.

  • @jfpinell I am 40 and I watched Sesame Street religiously. I don't remember this either. I suppose it could have been run in the very early 70s, and I wouldn't have remembered it if they stopped running it around 74.

  • @nutmeg42 I think you misread my last note :)

I recall this well, because my first thought was "Did the guy that made this just walk out of a bar at closing?" I just don't recall it being on that early. I thought it was more an '80's thing.

  • I loved this as a kid

  • My brother and I were absolutely terrified of this sketch when we were little. My mom would have to run in the room, turn the volume down, and stand in front of the TV whenever it came on, or we would scream and cry.

  • @babsiegermany Wow! Poor you. I'll admit it is a tad messed up, but as a kid I always fancied it rather cool to create the head of a female opera singer out of stuff you can find in a kitchen. lol

  • I was TERRIFIED of this growing up

  • I remember this. I was in awe!!! This and the little super guy were the coolest!

  • Never seen this

  • this video is mad creepy

  • This silly singing orange taught me to love the music from Carmen.

  • I'm scared now....

  • THIS is where I learned to love classical music. :)

  • This is how I learned classical music! Thanks, Sesame Street!

  • how can ppl be scared of this? this is classic sesame street! some of the shit that passes for "children's television" today is far more disturbing than this!

  • god, disturbing? some of you are punks. it's an orange and you were probably 3 when you were watching this...shouldn't you have been writing on the walls?

  • why don't they have bottle tops like that anymore!?

  • I so remember this very vividly the eyelashes are freaky, I always thought why is this happening it's not really teaching much

  • I found it slightly disturbing as a kid, but fascinating. The disturbing one was the one with the orange ball going through the Rube Goldberg-esque track, where the guy grinds it up into powder at the end. I was SO mad they murdered that happy orange ball!

  • Agree - as a child, this bothered me as well. Not sure if it was the weird synthesizer music or the orange or all the above.

This would be a pretty funny Annoying Orange spoof.

  • Mine, too. Glad that someone has seen this! Nobody remembers it! I thought it was the coolest when I was a kid..

  • I agree, this is very disturbing.

  • I am amazed at how many OTHER people were as terrified of this as I was!

  • I still find this disturbing...

  • This gave me nightmares as a child.

  • this was my favorite <3

  • This scared the unholy hell out of me as a child

  • This scared the crap out of me as a child.

  • Hey apple!

  • always loved this one. made me laugh and dream about being an animator/puppeteer one day. never did those things, but i still love it. :-)

  • i like the part with the orange.

  • this used to scare me as a kid. lmao

  • O _ o no comment

  • They should have gotten a good singer! The french is not good either. Maybe this is bad on purpose, but it probably turned off a lot of kids to opera!!

  • This actually used to totally scare me as a child! But, I was so intrigued with it, I had to watch! I still think it's cute, and very creative. I'm not sure the point of it, though!

  • BIG LIPPED ALLIGATOR MOMENT!

  • Stop-motion animation owns your mother.

  • this is the Annoying Orange's Mother.

  • This always creeped me out

  • @TheEmperorofthevoid

  • la MOOOOO

  • the person who did this was in drugs...

  • OK.........this is scary

  • I was bored...

  • Wtf is this shit. I love Sesame Street and I love opera, but ... I think Beaker and Swedish Chef have the orange beat when it comes to the Habanera.

  • WWWWAAaaaaaAAAAAAzzZZZZzZZZzZZzzzzAaaaaaaaaappppppPPP

  • 1:35 Its Scary...

  • Thanks for posting this, I had forgotten about her. As a kid, I would crack up when she strained for that high note!

  • @bkymic Exactly! I guess it wouldn't be so funny if you didn't KNOW that she wasn't hitting it...

  • Before there was VeggieTales...

  • this video is very funny! jajajaja

  • She is often called the "mother of annoying orange" ( Mother Monster) She's not the BIOLOGICAL Mom but she's the the inspiration.

  • If the flower only gave it one eyelash, it would be the Clockwork Orange orange!

  • When I was 3-4 years old this video used to make me run screaming like someone had stabbed me.

  • LOL, this brings back memories. This was my introduction to Opera.

  • Lady Gaga orange. :O

  • Remember, kids.. It's okay to play with your food!

  • this is some stoney shit

  • If there is any way to appreciate Carmen's Habanera while you're young, this is the way to do it. :)

  • i was afraid chuckie was gonna come out and hack him into pieces.

  • The take-away of this story? Eat your fruit and veggies, or they will conspire with your other kitchen and household items and scare the crap out of you....

  • Gotta love that vintage analog synth! Peace.

  • OHMYGOD IT'S TERRIFYING!

  • @TheWritersDiary YES, this used to scare the crap out of me when i was a kid!!!

  • wtf

  • i am so terrified. might be cause i'm high.

  • @silentruth wait, I thought that was the right way to watch this video?

  • Thumbs up if you saw this on Suggestion videos of annoying orange

  • the real annoying orange is better

  • @aughrisbuzz three decades later tho :)

  • @aughrisbuzz One is for little kids and not made to be funny and one is made to be funny. Guess which one is.

  • My first intro to Carmen! Great memories, Sesame Street.

  • A coworker brought oranges to work and I immediately thought of this clip. Memories!

  • ROTFLOL

  • That scared the shit out of me as a child. Especially the part where the lights go down.

  • @retroexplosion1 me too!!! I am thinking about legal action. Class action anyone?

  • @retroexplosion1 Same here. Was there anyone who is not scarred for life from this thing.

  • she kind of look like lady gaga at first? hahahah:)

  • @cutiegirl37

Correction: Lady Gaga kinda looks like the orange early on.

  • @cutiegirl37 Maybe it's that Lady Gaga looks like an orange. ;p

  • @cutiegirl37

    Sings like her too.

  • O crap, this gave me nightmares as a kid!

  • its funny when u pause it at 1:37 :L

  • luved the eyelashes. it looks lyk lady gaga but orange version :)

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • It is interesting to note that a children's program is doing a song that in real opera is sung by a prostitute...

  • @bones1925 Chill out, it's the most frequent performed opera in repertoire. It's an orange singing an aria about love being free as a bird. We over analyze somethings sometime. Applaud Sesame St. for introducing culture and not bash them....gosh

  • @jaibright Lol... I wasn't bashing them at all. I just thought that it was a funny thing to note. :-)

No Sesame St. was intended to be harmed in the making of that comment. ^_^

  • @bones1925 Carmen is not a prostitute; she works at a cigarette factory by day and assists the smugglers by night. She does however believe in free sexuality, which is what the song is about....

  • @ABookwormAndProud Ah, so then I got confused. Thanks for the correction. : )

  • thanks to her i wanna see carmen

  • at first I thought the mop was going to stab her in the face...

  • @astrogeek15 LOL to much annoying orange

  • LOOK AT HER HUGE EYELASHES!

  • this must be where they got the annoying orange videos =)

  • So this is where the annoying orange cam from....

  • I used to love those old synthesizer sound effects!

  • I don't like oprea, butsomehow the orange made it good. I wish I had an ornge that can do this in real life. Just think I could make millions of dollars. And I would never have to work. Just take the orang to preform a show.

  • I don't like oprea, butsomehow the orange made it good.

  • omg how funny!!!

    keep reapeating at 1:36

  • I always loved it!

  • the annoying orange cheated that rubber band was singing the whole time!

  • 19 people are allergic to oranges.

  • That's the ugliest thing I've ever seen.

  • I only have one question:

Why the hell am I even watching this?

  • 1:34 - 1:39 I always laughed so hard at that!

Say, by any chance, did Art Cloakey make this short?

  • BIG LIPPED ALIGATOR MOMENT

  • i see where annoying orange got their inspiration

  • @Sadie1307 LOOL I thought the same. :-)))

  • very expressive rubber band ^^

i like the allusions during the orange's metamorphosis. just wondering why the brush keeps flying off the head... thought the flowerlashes were intense enough. never mind ^^ gorgeously nuts anyway *bg*

  • Freaky, but kewl.

  • oh my word they showed this on sesame street???? thats from the opera Carmen and its about a prostitute

  • it realy looks like lady gaga :D

  • your comment looks just like the top rated. wannabee

  • Ummm... what?

  • omg its lady gaga in an orange form ahahahaha XD

  • I don't see why so many others as kids were spooked by this. When I was a preschooler, I thought it was interesting, pretty clever on how to use everyday stuff to make a face. And a nice intro to opera. I wished back then I knew what she was singing, but it didn't alarm me at all.

At least until that last eye-spinning "L'AAMOOOOOOOOOOUR!" But it was funny.

  • @1manwalkingfreakshow I remember seeing this and when I first saw it I remember being - a little freaked out - and I can't exactly say as I remember why.

But I liked your idea about knowing what they were singing about - kinda reminds me of Red commenting on hearing Andy play Mozart's Sul Aria from "Shawshank Redemption".

  • this is awesome when you watch it on weed.

  • Scary. . .XD

  • hey, hey orange!

    hey!

"WHAT THE HECK DO YOU WANT!"

    Knife.

  • what the fuck is this i asked for a singing apple

  • My beloved Carmen and my favorite children television shows combined. Magic. <3
