Thank you, peter. However the way the brain percieves color is highly contextual and contrast plays a big role. That was just something I noticed during editing and thought I would make mention of it.
Optical illusions are so good at illustrating that the human brain is not infailible and our brain's tendency to oversimplify and find patterns to make sense of things.
As a long time comic nerd, I like to consider how Superman would have to see- Perceiving light frequencies invisible to us, from IR all the way through X-Rays. Would he even be able to see the images on a cathode ray tube, or would it just be like us looking into a movie projector light?
Two 4000s in Crossfire? What kind of perverted witchery is this?
Also, I doubt that having more resolution would leave us unable to perceive art; to the best of my knowledge, even babies have to be taught how to actually perceive abstract images as representations of reality, and one may still have to do it again even when grown up (with impressionist or abstract paintings, for example).
I think it's more about language, about knowing the rules.
Thanks SM, yes its nice running the two scary cards in tandem. If you think that's witchery I am also running 8 gigs of ram on a 64 bit system (i dual boot 64xp and linux) But I don't mean increased resolution would change perception but rather the tricks and shortcuts built in to conserve resources.
More so, I'll be forced to recommend your rig to the exorcist committee as grievously dangerous subject. Nothing personal.
Also... But these tricks rest on part of consciousness, not the eye itself: perception of abstracts doesn't go away when our vision blurs from age, and doesn't spring back when we put on glasses. Hell, I can see each individual pixel on my display right now.
Great video. A while back on some Public Access TV show, they had an "Islamic Science" tape running, and the narrator said that "the human eye is so advanced, no camera has ever been built, nor could there ever be one, that was advanced and perfect as our eyes". Vision is an incredible way to perceive the world but its not my favorite sense. You should make a video on each of the senses.
I'm pretty sure there aren't going to be formats more high-definition than HD (2160p at least) for the exact reason that we can't perceive much more visual information than this.
Right, but the resolution you get from an 8 MP camera does not even come close to matching the vision of the human eye. And in terms of the lens, we cannot see telescopically. The video was trying to say that no technology matches the human eye. Which is like saying nothing out there has better audition (in terms of hearing) than a human, which we know is BS. The argument was saying that humans are so perfect only God could have created us which is what they said later anyway
Well, that's kinda the point, it does. Although the sheer virtue of capturing something as a whole frame, with constant access at will, no smearing, no errors, maybe even without DoF is already much more than a human eye can do.
I find it amusing that creationists have to make arguments that are not only obviously logically flawed, but are often disproved by the very things that are literally staring them in the face.
Heh, I was amazed by the staggering amount of crap I had to leave out and I feel pretty unsatisfied with the outcome. I suspect I'll have to do another vision video, maybe just concentrate purely on mechanics of it. PS just checked out your channel and subbed.
True. Though when my aunt -- the only person I've ever known who regularly used the word 'blivet' -- used it in reference to excessively corporeal women in unduly tight clothing, the word just seemed and sounded so right.
Hmmm, so women = 10 pound bags of shit? I mean I get that but still seems kind of mean. I googled it and got "A blivet, also known as a poiuyt, is an undecipherable figure, an optical illusion and an impossible object."
I know women are corporeal but they ARE undecipherable as well. A real conundrum to be sure.
Took a second but I saw the dolphins :D
