  • Looks great !

  • Thanks for sharing. How well do melons (watermelons, cantaloupes, honey dews) do in self-watering containers?

  • @MrandMissConverted I haven't personally grown melons this way. I've seen vids where people have done well with earthboxes, so I think these buckets would do well, too, but that's just my opinion.

  • i have found out that using the earth bucket, it helps it you plant your seedlings very deep. believe it or not if you plant your seedling with about 80% of the plant in the hole you will get much deeper roots....i have had great luck by planting my plant very deep.......

  • @joedacop Thanks for the tip.I'm gonna do that this year.

  • ih why have you lift the bucket lid on

  • @wilhat The lid keeps the weeds out, and the moisture in.

  • The plants that aren't growing it is probably because of the soil. If you plant in pots it's good to use a loose soil. It also looks like they might be getting to much water. Although watering may not be the problem. Cheap soil retains water and it takes a while for the soil to dry up. Miracle grow potting mix is a loose soil that doesn't hold the water, possibly killing the roots like the other soil.

  • @IChaseWaterfalls Thanks for your ideas. I didn't exactly use cheap potting mix, but it "was" cheaper than Miracle Gro Potting Mix. Hard to say regarding the water issue. The soil seems slightly moist as far as I can put my finger. Might be too wet below that.
