Wow! Chris Pine's singing voice took me by surprise. And it's semi-tenor level too, even more awesome.

Yup, it was a kid's TV show, created by Muppet creator Jim Henson. They also used puppets, but they weren't the "Muppet" characters. Truth be told, I actually liked Fraggle Rock more than The Muppet Show (though that was awesome, too). :D
