Here's an interesting bit of trivia for ya;

That hammer the brute is holding at 4:56 is actually "The Fist of Rukt", which is the hammer that Tartarus wields in Halo 2.

That was the original Gravity Hammer, so Bungie decided to dumb down the standard issue GH that we now see in H3, H3 ODST and Reach.

They should have kept the brutes the same in halo 3 as they were in halo 2. you could just melee a brute twice in halo 3 and they die, but not before their armor disintegrates exposing that all brutes wear 5 years olds pajamas under their armor.

i miss fighting elites more. the brutes werent bad. in halo 2 they were kind of annoying like they were in the books but in halo 3, there wasnt enough strategy. the elites knew how to fight. i wish the covenant kept some elites as slaves and made them fight while we had the elite rebellion. would have been much more fun.

the elites pwn the brutes, even in names. the brutes in halo 2 were just grunts with stronger melee and health, but grunts have the kamikaze thing. elitews were smarter, stronger and you can't deny that the sword pwns the hammer, it's easy to avoid the hammer (jump) the sword is hard, especially if they have support. this is why i want reach, cause the elites are the main enemy again, even though i feel bad for killing them after halo 3

see thing is...i prefer the brutes on halo 2 more than halo 3, not because of their looks more power. I found that the brutes in halo 3 were extremely easy even on legendary i found i was playing heroic against halo 2 brutes. Halo 2 brutes were more of a challenge, These ones, if you knock of their armour then their dead and when they go beserk they aren't even hard. I prefer halo 2 brutes over these ones. :P

Why did they cut all this out of Brute animations? The ripping off arms thing (I can somewhat understand why that was cut out, but in ODST they friggin massacre the Brute Chieftain so...). The realistic crush from the hammer instead of the hammer sending Marines flying, that fucking cool stomach punch thing the Captain does to the downed marine, and my probably favourite was seeing that Brute Minor use one of his dead friendlies as cover. All of it was cut.

Gears of war had all i wanted that should of been in halo 3 mainly gore and intensity... They dont seem to have a problem with chainsawing people in half but they wont even let a marine get his arms ripped off in a Halo game. Dont get me wrong, I love Halo its so much better than Gears of suckage but Halo could have had a lot more gore to emphasize its M rating. The marines dont even really curse when they get shot. I think youd be screaming obscenities if you got shot in the leg.

@TheSchultinator Yeah, in my opinion while keeping the multiplayer the same as it is now. They could have released 2 versions of the game. One for the younger audience with T rating and the only violence being the blood. And one for the more mature hardcore Halo fans where grenades blow people apart and plasma burns away flesh and bone. Not gory violence for the sake of violence but more to show just how terrifying a war like this would actually be like in the books.

@Vermilion515666 Yeah, I agree. The books always did a good job at making me cringe at the through of plasma burns. But it came off very shallow in the actual games. Which is one thing I liked about Reach, it's not more gore filled at all, but the Elites are fucking terrifying in that game. And the invisible Energy Sword Elites invaded my nightmares. Unlike the Gravity Hammer Brutes, who just required me to jump over them so I could lob a sticky grenade on to their back.
