You could replace the card with a nice aftermarket for a reasonable amount....But that's RIGHT....a replacement UPGRADED card would probably be on their white list. HP...gotta love'em
HP IS HORRIBLE!!! I bought an HP external hard drive 1TB paid close to $200 I wanted my data to be safe and it completely failed. When I try to access some files they show an error and im unable to open. I was able to open before I contacted HP, they basically told me "Sorry, Your problem not Ours" I have lost many files dear to me, my baby birthday pics, my kids holiday pics... The drive that was supposed to save these things has malfunctioned, and the comany refuses to help in any way.

HP did a warranty enhancement to fix this issue (my warranty was up), when I got it back it has worked perfectly ever sense. Of course the first half of the time I had my laptop it was in and out of service, but now it works perfectly (just in time for me to upgrade) LOL
Too late for me my motherboard failed.. something went wrong with it... I have the same exact model as yours.. and like it just stopped working.. and it doesn't turn on..
I can see you are upset, but do you realize that a laptop is not the same as a desktop? They have to really cram things in there so that heat is a serious problem. Since you had the extended warranty I can only assume your laptop is at least 3 years old. If this is your first failure that doesn't seem to bad to me.
Especially since it was the wireless NIC card. You can purchase a wireless USB dongle for a few dollars to keep the old gal running.

Yes, Hp is correct. They can't be responsible for the reliability, or performance of third party drivers (ones that didn't come with it originally.). They do however check for compatability. Hp can't be held responsible if you don't: 01.) upgrade the bios, 02.) update the wireless drivers, 03.) Maintain your laptop by blowing out the fans with a can of compressed air.
