  • "ample supply of beer and schnapps"

I was already basically a commie, now I'm fuckin sold.

  • anti-communist propaganda

  • 3:22 LOL turn of the captions!

  • The Jews will pay for their crimes.

  • The woman in the store didn't know how to get Rich Marks. (Money). It's called work. Socialism don't work, and never will.

  • @beerrunner81 that's a useless thing to say.

  • Hope people will not believe in a society theory where everyone is equal no matter what.

  • @TaoHe85

It's also called Christianism I think, or so I was told

  • Not even the Germans managed to make this stupid ideology work.

    And they are quite efficient.

  • @svartekaptenen That's a brilliant way to put it.

  • It was a joyous moment when the Berlin Wall came down.

But these changing winds can blow cold and hostile...

  • @baleariclife89 Free to have opportunities to live like Americans, i.e. to pursue careers they choose, to speak and write without fear that they will be questioned or jailed for their political opinions. Free to build a business if they wish to, to attend church if they wish to, to choose their course of study in college. Free to travel outside their country's borders, to buy goods and employ services formerly unavailable... Life sux under communism. In what way are Germans bullied by US?

  • The simple fact of the matter is the E/German rulers were fucking living a great life and the could only keep this great life going if the dentists, engineers (clever folks) remained in E/Germany.

So the built a wall and the apperatus to keep the folk in E/Germany. Without the proffesionals then the rulers could not live the life that they were enjoying.

I also think some of them enjoyed being sadistic controll freaks and genral bastards. (FACT).

  • The simple thing is the USSR were communist, but never Marxist, or even leftist. The Bolshevik revolution was never called by the proletariat, and power was never given to the proletariat, but instead centralized to so called 'socialists' who were no better than power hungry beaurocrats. Totalitarianism is the enemy of marxism, socialism and of course, anarchism. The power of life should be handed to each individual in order to improve life, that is our human goal, for the sake of those we love.

  • Very true, the same in Romania , the exotic fruits was very rare , no chocolate no food, no nothing. When Ceausescu came to inspect the alimentary stores they collect food as much as they can to foul him. Now is inverse, you have food but no so much money, in these days you had money but nothing to buy......

  • Excellent documentary Merci beaucoup

In Helsinki we used to call East Germany; Deutsche DRAMATISCHE Republik = D.D.R.

    BangkokJohnny

  • @carsanookdotcom dramatic as in any kommunist/fascist country

  • My husband was stationed in West Berlin, with the US Army, in 1978/79. We loved that city, and went to the East several times. The Germans said it was always grey and 10 degrees cooler in the East, and I would swear that was true. The people in the East were kind and friendly, but careful not to speak to us much; they always seemed to be looking over their shoulders. Many buildings still carried damage from the war, and stores were short on basic goods. Thank God they are free now.

  • @Olebrucanism - and you're an ultra-douche bag.

  • This man is an ultra-capitalist bastard.

  • @Olebrucanism Why? because he's telling the truth?

  • Iron Curtian fel ,

what they got Iron Grip form USA>

  • Sehr schöne Bilder-- vielen Dank für Ihre beeindrückende Erinnerungen.

  • fantastic

  • @SEFARAD2K4 So, so true! It's about time someone pointed this out. 100% spot-on, and thanks for posting this very valid comment!

  • @Derwentcub

SEFARAD2K4 has shown through is other comments that he is a hypocrite.

HE only wants to hear positive stories about East-Germany while the East lots of serious problems mainly coming from its ideological regime.

  • I went to East Germany, it was such a depressing country. But the people were nice but wouldnt talk to us about anything related to the West

  • What I find troubling is how these anti East Europeans will believe anything negative, but will refuse to believe anything positive.

  • @SEFARAD2K4

And you, and that hand, are a hypocrite for only wanting to hear positive stories and showing a narrowminded vision of the historical facts.

If it was so beautifull then why were people fleeing from East-Germany?

And, even more importantly, why did East-Germany "imprisoned" its citizens behind a damn wall?

The answers show the flaws of not only East-Germany but collectivist regime in general, under socialism or communism.

  • @stap0510 there's only one thing to remember: kommunists a nazis are the same criminals

  • @stap0510 there's only one thing to remember: kommunists and nazis are the same criminals

  • @LaSimoSound nothing like that! The kommunists did many crimes, which is true, but they NEVER conducted genocide or large-scale murderers and tortures over some groups of population. I hate defending them, don't make me do that.

  • @BoojumMXX

Hate to brake it to you buddy, but large-scale murders were committed under communism.

Look up the names of Stalin or Lavrenti Beria.

A lot of peasants and intellectuals were killed through the communist regime....and comrade Stalin.

  • @stap0510 yes, but there is a difference between fierce measures against one's country citizens on the political basis (which personally I condemn) and a large aggression again certain nations and countries. Stalin AND the Soviet people won, and the world stood still; imagine what would have happened, should Hitler have won.

I was in Lithuania last year and there is a "museum of genocide" in a former KGB edifice.

  • And surely they map communism to nazism and say, it's the same, they say, the country was under occupation for 40 years... But thay also give some statistics whic looked true to me, namely: between 1941 and 1944 when Lithuania was under the Nazi occupation, some 20 000 Lithuanians were killed; under the Soviet rule in 1940-41 and 1944-1990, about 6 000, with no reference wheter there were any verdicts (there may be criminals in this statitistics as well).

  • @stap0510 I may mix something and of course I didn't chek the numbers now, so they can differ, but the proportion is like this.

Both regimes were bad, but while Nazism was just EVIL, the communist rule was much lighter. And surely I would never want this for my country any more, because we had more than enough victims from both regimes, but again, Communists and Nazis are not the same, and should be treated differently.

  • @BoojumMXX

Nobody is saying that both totalitarian regimes were exactly the same

But essentially they both had the same goal, to create the perfect human...for that respected system.

So with Nazis they did it through eugenics and the commies did it through ideological "brainwashing".

But don't defend the undefendable, like the inevitable totalitarian system of communism

  • @BoojumMXX.you must learn your history.commies are large scale murderers and are even more dangerous than islam.i can t believe your words.you should be brought before the victims famillies,i m sure they d bash you to death, you little fucker.

  • @KB1523 you live in a so simple world, I'm even starting to envy you. The Muzlims being terrorists, the commies being large scale killers, nothing more. So damn easy, so fucking simple to deal with.

  • thats a great ending!

  • if it is pure lies, can you enlighten us with the truth?

  • argumentum ad verecundiam or onus probandi

  • why is that?

  • East Belin was beautiful, With no help from f*cking Americans, the German people rebuilt it from ashes, there was nothing after the war and it was built.

The Wall was caused by the West, keep in mind the Yanks established West Germany... giving the East no choice but to declare its nation hood.

  • Ever Marshall Plan?

After the war America devoted millions upon millions of dollars to rebuild germany into what it is today. Why was the wall the West's fault. It was built be the soviets to keep the occupants of east europe from escaping to the west. That is because the east was oppressive and unsuccessful under communism. So you're going to blame the west for having a better lifestyle? That is screwed up. So please dont be anti-american and anti-freedom just for the sake of it.

  • Uhh... study WW2. It wasn't the "Yanks" who created west Germany. It was an agreed upon division of Germany by Allied powers after WW2.

The difference between the "Yanks" and the Soviet Union is that once enough rebuilding was complete in Germany (about 7 years), they left West Germany to be an autonomous state only providing for their military defense since Germany was forbidden from creating an army.

  • @falchard

Bottom line is the Germans unwisely decided to get into a war and lost. East Germany was a consequence of that.

  • @falchard Called a criminal conspiracy. Jew Eisenhower, Jew Stalin. read.

  • if east germany was so wondeful, why did people keep leaving?

  • a Moscovite and Parisian each had to travel by train to paris and moscow respecively, each changing train in East Berlin. In East Berlin, the Parisian thought he was in Moscow and the Moscovite thought he was in Paris. It was a shock to think when I visited the east that, as grey as it was, it was the most successful soviet style economy

  • Really informative, interesting, fab photos and great speaker

  • wow
