Oh blessed old hymn sung with a full church of heart touched saints. I treasure this more than listening to a chorus of angels, for it speaks to me of the power and love of God to this poor old sinner.
@acapellaman45 have you not read the old testament? there are hundreds of examples of god's hatred, and vengeance. in fact, it's more accurate to say that Lord Satan is the good guy, rather then god
U must have never read the new testament...that is exactly why Jesus came down from Heaven, was born of woman, and died for the sins of ALL ppl, including u...if u disagree, thn give message me, and show proof.
@Snowhill3 i don't have to. in the old testament is CLEARLY states that the law of the lord is PERFECT. if the law in the old testament is perfect (and god can already see everything, including the future, right?) then don't you think he ALREADY would have planned for it? unless 1. he's NOT perfect and can't see everything. or 2. he's an asshole who doesn't include everything and lets people suffer in the meantime
Well, one thing i do know...EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW & EVERY TONGUE SHALL CONFESS THAT JESUS IS LORD"...and you, sir (or ma'am), you will bow down and worship Him one day...i just hope its b4 the 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ, that way u 2 will have Victory in Jesus!!!
@hiimquinn I am saddened that your mind and heart are so blind...you do not understands God's perfect Holiness....please keep an open mind and you will find the truth in Christ! Take care.
@Albertanator am i blind? tell me, good sir. look at today's day and media, look at lore throughout history, look at books even now a days, video games and the like. and you will easily see over 90% support god over Satan. seeing that, what type of "blind" man would be able to research this and come to the conclusion that Satan is a better being? being blind comes from ignorance, and yet you blindly accept the disposition that god is better without choosing it on your own
Most professing "christians" are in fact children of Satan. Those who support sinful things do not know the God of the Bible. Look at the ten commandments and see if you have broken any of them. I for one, have broken all of them. But God's grace is enough to save a sinner. And a Christian will live a "set apart' life abstaining from wickedness. Not perfect, but changed by the blood of Christ. Satan hates you but God wants to save you and will if you repent and trust Jesus
@GFBrooke are you saying they support Lord Satan secretly? are you saying your god believes "if they are not with me, they are against me"? are you saying that god himself supports Lord Satan (seeing as how god has broken most of the 10 commandments)? i have broken many of them, but i do not consider myself a "sinner", nor do i feel the need to "save my soul" as i already have the means to do so. oh yes, Lord Satan hates me. is that why god killed so many people while Satan tried to save them?
@GFBrooke i don't know why he would order others to kill for him (Lev. 19:27. states that people who trim their hair around their temples shall be put to death), nor do i know why he would kill personally (Genesis:38:7-9- But Er, Judah's firstborn was wicked in the LORD's sight: so the LORD put him to death), nor do i know why he would steal (Deut 20:16 - However, in the cities of the nations the LORD your god is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything. completely destroy them)
The Hebrew word would better be translated murder. No, it's not a sin to kill. I could kill someone who jumps out in front of my car, but it wouldn't be murder. God ordered people to kill in the OT to inflict His wrath on those who did not keep His commands. I know it's harsh but He's God and has the right to do so. God is a God of wrath and justice and also love and mercy. God cannot steal because everything is already His. Anything we have is given by Him.
@GFBrooke you JUST said he didn't disobey his own 10 commandments...and now you're correcting yourself. you're a christian hypocrite if there ever was one.
(and for the record. no, he does NOT have the right to do so. do parents have the right to murder their children? do owners have the right to murder their pets? then what right does god have to murder us?)
Read carefully. God does not murder. There is a difference between murder and killing. Who creates life? God does so he has the right to take it. Does that make it murder? No. Why? Because the people God commanded the Jews to kill broke the law. It's the same as the death penalty. A man who breaks a serious law could possibly get the death penalty. The judge would be wrong to let him go free.
@GFBrooke so you're saying when he KILLED all those people he believed were sinful (even though he's god, meaning he could have, oh, i don't know, saved them at any time), he didn't KILL them. okay. i see now. alright, when i strangle my offspring because he disrespects me, i'll be sure to thank god. okay, so when i COMMAND my child to murder, and he doesn't, it'll give me more reason to strangle him. thanks for answering all my questions
@GFBrooke so when god struck all those people with a plague (instead of saving them), and when he commanded all those people to murder FOR him (instead of doing something more pacifistic), it was all an accident?
what exactly IS the difference between a father murdering his child, and god murdering his "people". even if he is a god, that still makes him a dictator, which is definitely NOT someone who's "good and righteous"
I see that we're never going to agree here. In my opinion, it's not murder to punish those who break the law. Yes, we all deserve death from God yet He gives us mercy to live every day. If you read about the wrath of God, it's something that cannot be contained. The simple fact is that He loves us but will not let habitual sin go unpunished. If you think that makes Him a dictator, you have that right. But He does allow us to choose to worship Him or deny Him.
@GFBrooke and i say you're not making any sense. first you say that god is good, and loving; then you say he's wrathful, and his power "can't be contained". then you say that he has never broken his own law (thou shalt not murder), THEN you say "ya, but it's OKAY because he created us". then i stressed about how any parent could murder their child, then you insisted "there's a difference between killing and murder" (despite you yourself admitting he has killed people)
Wow I can tell this conversation is going in circles. I don't mind answering questions but I can't change the character of God to something more pleasing. I'm just telling you what I know from the Bible.
@GFBrooke i don't know why he would lie (Genesis 22:2 - God said, "Take your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering... (and god eventually stopped him right before he did) Genesis 22:12 - "Do not do anything to him. now i know that you fear god, because you have not withheld me from your son"). and apparently he doesn't like you worshiping jesus, either (first commandment: thou shalt have no other god's before me)
That wasn't exactly a lie. I've read the story and God was testing Abraham's faithfulness. He told Him to sacrifice His son but He did not lie. You are just looking for reasons to accuse God. Jesus is worshiped because He is God. Jesus stepped down from heaven (by His own will) and sacrificed Himself. God is 3 persons in one, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Jesus was God in the flesh. He was equal with the Father yet subjected Himself to the Father.
@GFBrooke it doesn't matter if he corrected himself later. he still told Abraham to murder his son, and then stopped him. he lied. and you are just looking for reasons to absolve him. so then if jesus is god, and god impregnated mary, wouldn't that count as incest? (which means jesus should have been put to death on the spot).
@hiimquinn I have read the Old Testament, and I invite you to name a few examples from the Old Testament to illustrate your contention that the God that Christians serve is "an angry, vengeful, jealous, HORRIBLE god...", and something else to illustrate your belief that Satan is the good guy. I stand ready to look at and examine your arguments, if you will do the same in return. Which God we serve is pretty important, wouldn't you say? I also invite you to email me at acapellaman45@yahoo.com
@acapellaman45 well, first off i would like to say thank you for seeming like a very nice well mannered person. this is rare now a days, especially considering recent religious and political scenario's. second, i would like to apologize for not getting back to you sooner, i was on a trip. third, the evidence i have collected over the time being is far to vast to send in a message like this. so, as a result, i will proceed to send you a personal message. feel free to send me one back
