For example my old roommate was from Guiana but his skin is darker than most people who are considered black. His bone structure doesn't look like that of a black person's, his accent doesn't sound African, but yet he's still considered black. The point is, for some reason a person's skin color in our silly society seems to be the basis of prejudgement and discrimination regardless of their real ethnic background. By saying my parent's race I was just going by the examples of definition everyone here seems comfortable with. The idea of race is most certainly a social construct. What you were describing blonde hair, blue eyes, bone structure are certainly are genetic traits which can be passed to anyone regardless of their skin color. My point is skin color, the deciding factor in what a person's race is to be considered is also one of these.
