This is a Joe Dante made for drive-in, grindhouse, low budget film. If you all want to watch an oscar winner get off of youtube idiots. It is made to be schlock! I am a film history teacher and the treatment that most casual you-tubers give movies on here is appalling. By the way, 1.) Joe Dante made Gremlins (cheesy as well) and 2.) Steven Spielberg said that this movie was great prompting his film company to back off of a lawsuit against Dante. Consider yourselves educated suckas!

This is a decent time killer. Dated, but fun, and a few good lines. Slower paced than the remake, with less boobs and gore, but better written, and done on its modest budget.

No one would ever know Piranha 3D as the sequel because not alot of people ever heard of the first Piranha in the first place. Only people that grew up or lived in the 70's.

@Ellement90 Piranha 3D isn't really a remake, it's a reimaging. The difference is the origins of the Piranhas.  The originally Piranhas were supposedly genetic mutations, the Piranhas is the 3D version are prehistoric creatures.

I remember this movie during 1978, and it was quite enjoyable. It's quite a coincidence that JAWS 2 also came out that same year. Director Joe Dante may not be a Steven Spielberg, but, he did ok with this B movie.

I haven't seen this film since I saw it in the theater in 1978. I forgot how good a film this really was. It might be a Jaws rip-off but it was a good one. And I didn't realize that was "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" Kevin McCarthy as Dr. Grogan. And that was Barabara Steele as the Creep Science lady! Good stuff!
