  • We need to separate the destruction of mangrove wetlands pfrom Global Climate Change. Mangrove wetlands are critical resources important in the food chain. They serve as structure for the incubation generator of the fisheries industry internationally. As viewed on the video, it may take numerous yrs for these to recover. GCC, on the other hand deals primarily with carbon in the atmosphere. Plants give off oxygen(O2) and people and cattle exhale carbon dioxide(CO2). Then one may look at the sour

  • Nothing wrong with those mangroves.

  • The Earth has been CHANGING ever since the dawn of TIME! We can't say it JUST started when Gore said it did! North and south pole has NOT always been where they are NOW! LOOK IT UP! AND if you LOOK UP you will notice a big bright thing in the sky that would be a SUN!!!

  • @Oceanno69

Yes, the earth has, is, and will continue to change naturally. This doesn't mean that humans are not affecting the climate.

As you say, LOOK IT UP! Read what the experts have been saying for over 30 years. Gore isn't an expert. He's just been telling us what they've been saying.

Google... Scientific Opinion on Climate Change Wiki

The sun has been ruled out. The warming trend cannot be explained without the human factor. This is settled science. FMI... UCSUSA(dot)org

  • UN Climate Change panel under fire after Himalayan glacier claim another CLIMATE GATE! Ignoring less sun spots is not ruling out the SUN! Sun Pole shift is going to happen in 2012 this is Information is though NASA. I am Not saying that we humans have NO responsibility, but Taxing peeps for it is NOT the WAY at ALL!

  • You use NASA as a credible source but when it comes to hearing what they think about climate change you "hear no evil". NASA says the sun's activity has NOT increased significantly.

Perhaps you haven't read what the experts have said in regards to "climate gate". Try the following link to an article from the AGU.

More taxation its a silly excuse. Taxing pollution is a good idea while incentivizing renewables.

  • Your funny pay to pollute and county that do not follow will Pollute for the World! This is NOT the WAY!

  • Greenhouse gas emissions know no borders.

  • You are RIGHT so if China or any other county DOES NOT get on board with this MONEY SCAM then it DOES NOT MATTER the same Pollution will STILL BE THERE a not regulated!

  • Yes, China is a problem but they now understand the crisis and are making changes. They have much at risk. Read...

    Hot, Flat, And Crowded

Unlike what you may think of the people in China, they too want to preserve their habitat for future generations.

We here in the west benefited the most from carbon pollution. Most of the GHGs in the atmosphere came from us, especially from the USA. Since we benefitted the most and have the means we should take the lead.

    gota run.......

  • When the Truth comes out on how many were promoting this fraud for GREEN and not earth but MONEY, a lot of Peeps are going to be Disappointed!

  • So there's no "truth" in the scientific community until they start agreeing with you? Wow! Good luck with that!

I would prefer that ALL of our respected scientific institutions are wrong, that there is no climate crisis and that humans are not degrading our only habitat. But doesn't everyone that has an illness think that? Don't they wish that there were nothing wrong? It's best we face the facts and not live in denial. The treatment is moving to sustainable living.

  • We would be in no position to influence the actions of other nations through diplomacy, etc. if we aren't living what we preach first.

China is a massive polluter at the moment, but part of it is through the sheer number of people living there. The country itself is actually starting to invest heavily in renewable energies, because they realise - even if you don't believe in climate change - the fact remains that natural resources won't last forever.

  • Actually, taxing the people is one of the most effective ways of implementing behavioural change.

You can tell people about the negative impacts of their lifestyles until the cows come home, but most won't do a thing about it until it starts costing them.

Example: Renewable energy sources cannot hope to compete with how cheap coal and oil are these days. What will happen if you implement a pollution tax that takes into account the amount of pollution generated by each type of energy source?

  • Haiti redux.

  • SCAM - RICO - PRISON - FOOLS

  • @awhiteman

To believe it's all a scam you would have to disregard what ALL of our respected scientific institutions have been saying. ALL of them. This includes institutions from around the world. Think they've all been conspiring in a 30 year conspiracy? You're kidding yourself.

The emails are but a drop in the bucket. Try reading about it from a reliable source rather than consuming the hype.

    Settled science

  • this media pipol i don't know if ni kusoma hawajasoma ama nini.their cuutin down trees and callin it climate change, i don't get

  • they need to have specialized correspondents - if not in the field, then as editors : health, climate, government etc correspondents... anyway, that is why the BBC is unmatched by any other...

  • Cutting down trees is ONE of the causes of climate change. When the land is cleared for its wood, cattle grazing, palm oil, or other uses a large amount of greenhouse gases are released into the atmosphere. In addition forest that once absorbed carbon is now gone.

Of course the primary reason climate change is occurring would be the burning of fossil fuels.

  • NEMA needs to provide an enforceable policy that requires all government decisions to include E.I.A. on everything from national level all the way to the village. These jumping around Oh Mau Oh Mangroove Swamps oh Turkana is drying up is driving the conservation agenda nowhere!

  • Promise Me Siasabora that you will read about the destruction of fisheries and the environment in the Kenyan Indian Ocean Waters - this mangrove story is nothing like that destruction. Please read it - type trawlers, fishing, Kenya etc...

  • what does cutting down mangroves have to do wth climate change??

  • @madscientistify: The few Mangroves left suffer from climate-induced stress hehehehehe!
