  • Martin just owned that solo

  • Maybe the best solo in all the versions of Aqualung? It certainly give me chills... amazing! And I'm not a Gerry Conway fan... but man, he is great in this song, he does nail it here

  • This whole song rocks, love the drums the best.

  • ian is awesome x3 but u gotta admit he was kinda crazy

  • I've seen Tull 10 times over 20 years; and I can tell you that band gives their all each and every song. I don't mean some 45 minute set like so many others, but a full blown concert. Even from a time of intense musical expression(1965-1980) they are like no other.

  • I want to learn that solo!

  • Wow, homeless man singing... ;-)

  • To all the naysayers.... Are there bands you like better? That is up to you. Are there bands that are better? Not fucking likely. I have been a musician for 35 years. I know lots of musicians. They all own Jethro Tull's entire catalog. From a critical view this band has nothing to be ashamed of. You either like it or you dont. the reality is their career has spanned 5 decades and they have sold 60 or 70 million records. That is not a bad score no matter how you feel about it.

  • @sonnyroxx Thumbs up to this guy!!

  • @sonnyroxx Damn straight!! They go back in my mind as far as my memory goes and they are Legend!! I grew up on this as well as my parents ;) I don't care what anyone says either, these guys and many other bands of that era were an influence on my enormous infatuation of music and I'm so sure that they were an inspiration to many musicians. They and the many other musicians of their time were indeed the Masters of Rock n Roll!! They and those musicians immediately prior to their time ;)

  • @nomikjustkaty

Yeah man, Me and and bunch of people my own age, watched a concert on new years, and commenting

on Jethro was so positive. Barre wasn't a big influence for me, but Tull's music was, as well as friend of

mine who's one of the most talented jazz saxs in MI.

This time was the most creative along with the creation of blues, big band, rock jazz fusion. Society today

produces a few original concepts, but a lot of "remakes", in one form or another.

  • 3:17 to 4:37 best music I listen since it began 2010. The best music I heard in my life.

  • Best band ever?? Maybe??

  • Jeeeezzzzusss this gooood!

  • Ian Anderson actually composes most of the music

  • He was and will always be the effing BEST !!

  • im glad you have this video posted,, supreme.

  • Hey, just wanted to say thanks for having this vid up when i needed it most.

  • Easily, the real deal video for Jethro Tull. Fior those youngsters out there this is how its done.

  • this is actually the best video recording of this song. all the others, seem to have been to fast or not as well tuned as this performance. compare it to some others that have been available and...you'll see what i mean. and since most of the band is of memebers from fairport, ian should call his band: jethro convention. lol. great show, ian! rich.

  • Ahaha awesome epic beard! Super nice song"

  • martin doesn't look like much, but that dude can play

  • Comment removed

  • Those beards are awesome !

  • I'd forgottten just how good a band they were.

  • 1982, the year with Gerry Conway on drums! So, with Dave Pegg on bass, almost half of Fairport Convention..., yeehaa!! Great video!!

  • martins good

  • they all look homeless

  • Ian doesn't suck.

  • @Gregsynth are u a full blown idiot hes one of the best musicians and composers of our time

  • Are you an idiot as well? My comment was towards someone saying he sucked. Of COURSE Ian is awesome.

    Learn to read.

  • Well, you try to sing almost non-stop for 14 years, and see if your voice doesn't change. Yeah, his voice is different in 1982 compared to 1971, but there is no way this sucks! And, I know there is only 11 years between 1971 and 1982, but Jethro Tull started up in 1968, and that's 14 years.

  • @camelandu2

Ray Davies still has his voice, but everyone is different. Love Ian The Tull though.

  • His voice doesn't sound too bad as many people said, but he had a problem with his vocal chords and he lost part of his vocal range, he stills sounds good anyway!!!

the funny part is that he really looks like the "aqualung" character with that hair, the beard and his clothes jajajaj

  • He lost his voice in 1984, a couple years after this.

  • well it was obviously the last song of the night..he was probably tired as shit, what a champ though

  • They sounded SOOOOOO good live. Don't worry my people when I'm old enough I'm gonna carry this kind of music on so it may reign ETERNAL!

  • I bet it's like what happened to James Hetfield from Metallica. After extensive nonstop touring, he probably went up on stage and sung a high note and blew out a vocal chord.James did the same thing touring on the Sandman Tour back in the day on like the first song of the night. And still did the show(what a badass!)That's why he sounds different, he took voice lessons and learned not to push so hard.

  • I think the main reason why he left voice is alcohol, and expresive singing style...

  • yeah the 1978 one was so powerful...his voice in this sounds like hes singing bad on purpose.

  • omg i can't believe the difference between his voice from the 1978 one
