love this song...Gene was so talented in so many ways..but this one really struck a chord with me and you do it just fine...ol gene was one of a kind and I am glad there are those who still remember....
Rob, that was really great. Where have you been? If I had to guess, I'd say practicing before turning on the camera. And it shows - fantastic performance.
Hey Brian! Thanks for the compliment. I've actually been a little busy for YT lately, and for music. Maybe a break helped me out, but I felt a lot more comfortable with this one, and the crazy thing is that it was a one-take deal. I also realized that for me to sound decent, I've got to keep the guitar tuned to accommodate my vocal range: one step down. Any time I break away from that, it's usually a disaster, and noticeable. Anyway, thanks again for the comment. Glad you enjoyed the show!
I've had "Jimmie the Kid" stuck in my head for a while, but was trying to figure out how I was going to memorize that one. He names about twenty different railroad lines in that one, so it'll be tough. Good challenge though, so I'll take you up!
Thanks, man. That's a fun song, too. I don't care much for his later, cheesy cowboy stuff, but the early Blues numbers were great. Blues guys borrowed a lot of lines from each other, and even entire verses. I think you'll probably hear a few more familiar lines as I throw out some more of these Autry Blues numbers. Thanks for the comment. You should do another one of your hip-hop covers. Borrow a few of my yodels this time around if you want :-)

Good Job Rob!! I'm sure Gene Autry would be proud to know that after 80 years, this song is still covered by other people. Well done!!

Lol maybe I will.
By the way after you knock out these Gene tunes you should try "Jimmie The Kid" or "Looking for a new mama"

Long time no see lol.
"Looking for a mama I ain't evre seen"
'Gonna get me a mama lord I ain't ever seen"
Even some of the lyrics are the same but as you said Gene was a good blues singer in his own right
Great video by the way
