Additionally, I largely avoid the fight with the car, especially if I see that there's a stop ahead where I can ambush the over zealous driver. I learn to pick my fights when I don't have a huge disadvantage, but ambushing and yanking motorists out of their cars at intersections is a rather effective tactic. I'm not some geek pencil neck rider. 6'3"/189m 210lbs/95kg. It's effective in suburbs and city.

If a motorist blatenly does something wrong to me, and I catch them at the next stop or light, they're getting yanked out of the car and pummeled! If you re-read my previous post, you'll see that I clearly state that I avoid a fight with a car at all costs, but if opportunity arises at the next light/stop, it's on because they no longer have a huge glass and steel advantage.

Motorist generally are not aware of the laws and rights of cyclists, they want cyclists to obey the law, but fail themselves to apply the to themselves as it relates to their encounters with cyclists.

I'm a motorist and I can tell you that I never bothered to read the manual where it explains how these two groups should interact with each other. I sure most motorist haven't bother either, hence, the lack of respect that motorist have towards cyclists.

In the US and most other countries the right of way comes to the person who has reached and stopped at the stop sign first, regardless of your stupid closest to the right turn lane rule. That sounds retarded anyways! What is there are 50 cars in the right turn lane and 1 car trying to turn left? They have to wait for all 50 cars to pass? Thats dumb. @diggin4deals Bikes are generally considered vehicles, not pedestrians. That may vary state-by-state or by whether the bike is on a sidewalk or the road. But based on the cyclist riding on the right side of the road, I'd say they're likely considered vehicles in his state.

Sorry, but as far as I can see the Toyota had "right of way" insomuch as it was on the priority road. Maybe I am missing something or some roadmarkings. If so, please don't think I am getting at you!

I will say however, I am a LGV instructor and am amazed how many cyclists believe they have the "right of way" simply because they are smaller and more vulnerable!

it was my turn. I was in motion and in the street before she reached the intersection. She did not even come to a complete stop, and lastly, she did not look in the direction she was driving (where i was). So she was in the wrong 3 times over. Still would not have mattered if she ran me over and i died. after that incident, i dont "take" the right of way even if it is mine. right or wrong on a bike, you will never win a collision with a car.

Common sense goes before rules... I know... I cycle my share in our country as well. Also I have overlooked a cyclist once (she was in my blind spot)... accidents happen. As a cyclist your more vunrable so you have to be more carefull as a motorist.
