i've been playing piano for 10 years.

i'm just talking about this song.

hitting the chords at an equal tempo for the entire song get's boring real quick.

i'm thankful that she at least varied the volume.

but in this, she's not doing anything a beginner couldn't learn in 2 day.

the best part of this song was at 2:42 when she hit a key in between two chords. and she did it again at 3:11.

weather this is beautiful or not is open to interpretation and i'm not commenting on that.

i'm saying the piano is repetitive and simplistic. and you can't say it's not.

but for me, 5 minutes of it is too much.

i don't think she did a good job of supporting her amazing vocals with a piano that a dog could recreate.

@jkjkjij22 Again, this is actually something that happens A LOT in music, it's just that we don't notice because the piano isn't accented. As somebody before me said, she does this so that the build is that much better, but still gentle.

But it seems there's no agreeing on this subject. For me, this song, it's lyrics, and it's tone doesn't merit anything but a simple piano arrangement. I will grant you this: you're right. Maybe it WOULD have been nicer if the climax had been a bit more complex

@jkjkjij22 Dude, the repetitive chord playing is to build tension. It's insistent, unrelenting, she's pushing the boundaries of our patience here. It's supposed to be 'too much'--that's the whole point! Until her voice is our cathartic release.

It's the drama of a Greek play distilled into 4 haunting minutes. And it's effing BRILLIANT!

This version just doesn't need too much going on. Not even a variation in chords, if thats how she wanted it. It might sound beginner, but everything doesn't need to be impressive all the time. I thought it was great because it was so simple. And I like the song now.

When an artist covers a song, they reinterpret it and make it their own. Often, it doesn't end up sounding as good as the original. But Sara was able to take a beautiful, amazing song and play it in a totally different way that is somehow still just as beautifully emotional. One of my favorite covers of any song, ever.

i wish she would have been more consistant, however. i liked, at the beginning of the song, how she made it her own version of Yellow, not just a female version of Coldplay's Yellow. But by the end of the song, it was quite similar to Colddplay's version.
