  • My FAV Human League track by a country mile.....Sublime ....Phil should never have left.....They could have done so much more.

  • John Foxx couldn't do it better!

  • <3

  • class song from a class album

  • class song from a class album

  • class song from a class album

  • love this song

  • i love this song go on phill you are electro of the 80,s

  • the second half in particular of this track is just so fucking cool.

early human league at their ground breaking best.

  • Thank You! From a time when music was 'pure'.

  • One of the best bands in the 80's. Thanks for this.

  • nice vid: groovy glasses!

    yes all music has context.

    you'll never know!!!

  • nice vid: groovy glasses!

    yes all music has context.

  • yeah this is dope. all music has a context. check out sheffield late 1970's/ nah you'll never have any idea. magic. just glad this is still extant.

  • synthetic music with an edge. I see before me bombed-out industrial facilities and a bleak, thatcheristic England. Syth-pop at it´s prime.

  • oh you are a saint, well done I adore this & Human League play here in Cambridge in Nov.

  • the best album they ever created

  • Incredibly I'd forgotten what a fantastic song this was.

    Brilliant!

  • This is the true electronic music, it's so good that techno is dead!

  • Brilliant song from Travelogue, absolutely brilliant. In fact the whole album was magnificent. I loved this album, Reproduction, Dare and Love and Dancing. What a group! Thanks for this

  • got travelogue on vinyl and CD this is the best track on the album ! takes me back to when i was 15 great days of old !!! thanks for posting it !

  • You are welcome!

  • @DementedDegsy I didn't really appreciate Human League until I heard them on vinyl! I bought Dare and was blown away by how different (better) it sounded than the CD...then I heard Travelogue..and JESUS....MY MIND WAS BLOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @DementedDegsy

True that, Mate. I found it in a used bin for one $US dollar. It was mid 80's, I was an alienated suburban teenager listening to punk. This was my falling asleep music.

  • I have Travelogue on vinyl. When I first heard of Human League of course it was "Don't You Want Me" etc. Little did I know what an incredible contribution they had made to the evolution of Electronic Music. This track is a stand out masterpiece...the end, those synths...Wowzer! Not to mention that on this album, way before Electro Industrial music...these guys were using militant break beats and buzz saw synthesizer sounds. All Hail the Human League!

  • soo-pearb!

  • Fantastic -I think the early Human League are better than the later stuff, after 'Dare'. Then things just went Pop.

  • Absolutely agree, after Dare things went downhill.

  • thanks for uploading. i miss my ex when i hear this. she is an 80's synthead

  • You are welcome!

  • @paloriggs in time you will forget your ex. The song will be with you forever

  • The Human League just got signed to UK's recording label Wall of Sound! New material (songs, videos, album etc.) expected sometime in 2010!!!!

  • I love this epic song - amazing ;)

  • Great video. AWESOME song.

  • You are welcome.

  • Just excellent,,,,,, still don't know what on earth it's about 25 years later....?

  • This song truly reflects what I feel at the moment.

  • Brilliant classic.

  • One of their best works ever.

  • The first two Human League albums, especially Travelogue - just brilliant stuff. This track is my favourite of them all I think. Thanks for posting....

And if I do my best

    And try to settle in

I'm sure I can be just like

    Someone's neighbour

  • Thanks for watching my friend.

  • The 1st 2 albums show the influence of Kraftwerk and Throbbing Gristle far more than the later stuff. Though it must be said they were the 1st wave of pop electronica. Just brilliant

  • You are right about Human League being the 1st wave of synth pop in Britain. I disagree when people say Gary Numan was part of the first wave. It is not right.

  • I have nothing against Gary Numan,in fact,I named my home built synth "The Numan". But came AFTER, Human League,Cabaret Voltaire,The Normal(Daniel Miller, founder of Mute records),and OMD. Its allgreat. I remember when this stuff came out, playing it next to my Dads Joni Mitchell records,it seemed like looking into the future. Made me want to become a musician. Nice to see real fans on here.

  • Oh, that's nice to know. I'd love to make my own synth. I have made software synths but I want to make a proper analogue synthesiser, one day.

I don't really mind Numan but I am personally of the view that Human League's records were better, musically richer and don't sound dated as his records.

  • Brilliant stuff, thank you so much for putting this up...

  • thanks for watching my friend...

  • If this was released today it would have 4/4 kick all the way through it and annoying trance stabs. Synth music can be powerful without drums.

  • The song is beautiful.. Yes, but more deliberate. The most visual music I have ever heard. Ever.

  • i like it,it was good

  • Definitely my favourite on the Travelogue album, such a masterpiece!

  • arpeggio city wonderfull

  • What's your sexuality got to do with anything???

If you need to message me click my name here and go to my profile page and message me from there. It's private so not everyone gets hold of your email and I can then send you want you direct without without YT getting involved.

  • I think hes calling you a Faggot lad!

  • lol, yep, guess so.

A little worried I want his 'virtual' arse.

  • Can anyone tell me what it's about for two points?

  • Paranoia in the work-place. South-African apartheid (kruggerands were the currency of that day). If he tries to change anything "they" will come for him and make him disappear which is what happened to anyone who spoke out against that system. The work-lace is full of gossipers and people who want his job. So he dreams. The longing for the simple life where he can live quietly and "fit in". If you listen carefully to the words it's self-explanatory.

  • Perfectly correct! Of course the mention of 'Krugerands' is the give away, but only one person I've ever played it to, got it! Nice one pal.

  • Now, about those two points... lol!

  • How would you like them? lol. Where are you and are you a chap or lass?

  • I want them signed, sealed and delivered first class. London. Chap.

  • You got it! I'm in Bootle, near Liverpool, ('goodysun refers to the Blues-Everton.) Do you still listen to the HL? I do, often.

  • I play HL Repro and Travelogue endlessly (and also The Future's more experimental stuff). Met Adrian Wright a few years back and told him there aren't many albums that I can do that with, and I couldn't play the later albums. He said the reason he left was because he wasn't happy how HL eventually turned away from that sound and ended up doing the later stuff. I have to agree with him. I blame them pesky girls, lol (although I did love Dare and those 12" dubs with Martin Rushent).

  • I couldn't choose between 'Travelogue' and 'Reproduction', as they're both masterpieces. I think that Heaven 17's first album proves that the two ex-human League lads were the backbone of the latter.

  • Agree about H17' s first L.P.

B.E.F's "Music For Stowaways" is up there too for me. Exciting times.

If you don't have and want that album then message me.

  • No, don't have that. Have you got 'Reproduction'? Does youtube allow swapping e-mails?

  • message me!

  • Must pont out, I'm straight, but always happy to make new mates, so how do I message you? (Sorry, bit of a Luddite!)

  • sublime!!!!the human leagues early stuff is so good.ok dare wasnt bad but it was the end of the real experimental stuff.

  • One of the best covers ever. Pure perfection.

  • It's not a cover, this is written by The Human League

  • The album cover! As in the artwork that is shown throughout the video! It's my favourite cover of all time (front and back).

  • Oops, silly me. Apologies. But you're right then in that case, it is a great cover, as was the Reproduction cover.

  • Too true, but how did they prophesize the girls joining on that cover??? Over thirty years later they could use that cover for the new band!

  • Yeah, it is very strange that. But that cover is strange for all sorts of reasons. I mean what is going on there? Glass dance floor about to crack and underneath some unsuspecting babies? At least that's one way of looking at it.

  • Can't think of any other way! That's the brilliance of Adrian Wright; I mean a guy with a sledge and dogs for Travelogue (taken off the T.V as well). I remember the slide shows he used to do for the live gigs were absolutely beautiful. He seemed to approach the visuals like architecture.

  • this really takes me back, excellent.

  • Thanx for posting this! I always thought HL's early work sounded more modern than their eighties stuff! This is my absolute favorite song by them! But really..what is it about?

  • i own the original vinyl, still play it, still sounds incredible. Ahead of their time. Gotta love BEF!

  • I love this song too much

  • after travelogue and reproduction shame the original human league split never the same

  • I LOVE THIS RECORD FOR THE RECORD

  • Epic of a song, remember buying this album, all done with synths, imagine if it had been produced by Brain Eno...Would have been summit else.

  • its nice to see that there are people who see the earlier work of HL. too many think they was a one hit wonder but the reality is music would of stopped evolving without them. the equipment they used may have dated but the sound is forever been used for inspiration such as richard x, utah saints, liberty x and other dance type outfits.

  • and boards of canada....

this is a great song. what they lacked was decent production.

  • Yep - right you are...although I would hope most Americans recognize that, yes, they definitely weren't one-hit-wonders as both Human and Don't You Want Me were #1's. Like many, I have all League's albums and look forward to their upcoming one!

  • They were never a 'one hit wonder' especially with the pop stuff after the split-they had a number of big hits and number ones in Britain, though this track is from when they were a truly magnificent band. I've listened to this for 30 years and NEVER get sick of it. Absolutely supreme music making.

  • I want to add that this album contains elements of all Electronic music that followed this early era. Be it Hip Hop, Industrial, Minimal, House, Techno, etc...you can hear all these styles on here in their raw nucleic state. Definitely Human League's most creative project.

  • nobushjrnonono, It is nice that you have left a comment like that. However there was no hip hop, minimal, house and techno at that time. These "Industry terms" came later as the music biz wanted so much to label them.

  • Like I said "That Followed this Early Era"

Minimalist Music, Industrial, House and Hip Hop are not just industry terms, they existed as movements before, during and after the release of this album.

Minimalist Music is dated back to the 1960s but becomes a movement in the mid 70s with the works of artists like The Philip Glass Ensemble and Steve Reich.

Industrial Music is a term dating to the mid 70s from the experimental artists who were releasing music under the Industrial Records label.

  • The term House Music comes from one of the late 70s Chicago clubs called The Warehouse.

Hip Hop was coined by Keith Wiggins of Grand Master Flash to describe his MC style based on the cadence of military marches around 1978.

  • "Techno" was definitely an "industry term" at the time. I was 13 when this album came out and we called it techno then as we also called Kraftwerk techno. The style for todays techno has changed considerably but no new term has been phrased.

  • This is one of the best songs I have in my record collection. It's subtle but incredibly dramatic and touching. And that ending, the synths sound amazing....very Walter Carlos!

It should be noted that these makeup wearing Brits recorded one of the earliest break beat songs on this album, Being Boiled.

    Simply an outstanding Electronic album

  • Travelogue as with all of the Leagues music is much better if listened to on vinyl as this medium contains a "warmth" and not the sterility of CD, which is missing heart and neutralises the feeling and true soul of the track. This particular track is one of my personal favourites. Anyone remember the live gigs in the 70's, they were beyond belief.

  • One of my favourite human league tracks, although much of their early material was great.

Dare was the last album of theirs I brought, such a let-down.

  • Travelogue is one of the best cds I've heard. They made brilliant music back then. The experimental edge slowly disappeared after the girls came but they were still good.

  • Travelogue. A "tour de force" of an album.

It was all over when those scrubbers showed up.

  • I prefer the this league, before the girls joined.

  • Bought Travelogue in the mid 90s,i love this song, such a sad feeling throughout from the lyrics to the music.Always wanted to remix this, also Being Boiled and Marianne.Never did though.

Brilliant song and vid thanks for posting!

  • how did they go from this to human????

  • What a band, different and exciting,I bought all these when they originaly released.

  • viel schön

  • Gracias por poner esta maravillosa cancion, casi lloro por los recuerdos vividos en los 80's,agradecido,Willy

  • Great stuff

  • Wonderful ...What memories circa 79 and 80 mmm

  • what!dude the league rocked in 80,what is this?Its a mess,its not the future.They used to make the future.Just sing a little bit.Get a huge dynamic and dance again,mo fo's

  • Great track by HUMAN LEAGUE.

Before the hits, a fantastic moment by Philip Oakey and company

  • Beautiful job! I love this album and this song.

  • Thank you. Sitting on my bedroom floor, playing this and a 12" for empire state human over and over. I knew then that good music existed. What happened to music today? Is house music the only music that matters?

  • Never stopped listening to this excellent album. Performed a stunning version in Hammersmith Odeon. Bass bins that did strange thangs to your chest cavity. Now that's what I call a PA! Oakey's voice was breathtaking...

  • Fantastic, takes me back. I totally agree about this brilliant album. This was my favourite track on it.

  • this is the tune for those in the know for original Human League-i used to love the complexity of this,it still sounds fresh now as it did then.I loved travelogue and still play it know! thanks for putting this on-how about Marriane on the holiday 80 EP ? TOP

  • Excellent mate.Thankyou for this
