  • I'm sorry but this is pure and utter shite. Even Ryanair have better music

  • Simply wonderful

  • I need to disagree. Rick Wakeman is a master of the Keyboards. And unlike Beethoven, he and his music is much appreciated while he is alive. I DO :)

  • he should have three hands....well i think he hasn't

  • My SWOHE on vinyl is probably one of my most prized possessions....

  • Worshiped SWOHE as a teenager in the 90's. Rick is truly in a class all his own and totally capable of pulling off the cape look :D

  • Who is that at 5:11 AND fading at 7:53 - It looks like Jordan Rudess ? Is IT??????

  • @xploadliveproduction It's Adam Wakeman, Rick's son.

  • way to go Rick !

  • Rick...you slay me

  • My favorite wive.

  • Amazing talent, the best you will ever see in your life time and for generations to come. No need to compare his talent to any one else. There is no one that can compare. Rick is in a class of his own. Cliff

  • Wakeman forever!!!!!!!

  • I heartily disagree with Vince 1961! Rick Wakeman is properly appreciated on a daily basis in my home! Truly though he is right about he genius part... Beethoven has reincarnated possiby?

  • love his set! looks like super mario world mushroom kingdom or something! Wakemen forever!

  • and with his boy Adam

  • Magnificent.

  • Saw Ray the first time with Elton John. Two grand pianos front to front. Amazing. He's a great percussionist, but a great keyboardist as well.

  • Acyually, all Henry's Catherines began with a C.

  • My favorite wife.

  • u r real PIANO Man!!

  • Does he use the M3 grand piano patch, or does he sample/program his own?

  • have no words .....

  • Beethoven would be proud. Thums up if you know this to be an ultimate truth.

  • Cheesy music. now i know where all the demo songs on the keyboards come from.

  • I don't like this Richard Clayderman-like version. The very Mr.Wakeman I once knew is a completely different stuff!

  • @zorman743 RIGHT!

  • What the hell happened! He looks old! And his hair is gone!

  • @ajabberwock The album is 40 years old!

  • Fantastic video - it was fun

  • Damn I hate the Droid "go" location in YouTube! Anyway, I studied Wakeman's compositions beside the masters (Bach, etc.) and aced college theory classes. He's a grandpa so you have to cut him some slack & bless his foresight to have his son playing 2nd chair. Rick knows it's not 1974 but attacks his work with the dignity of a pro. :-)

  • Rick Wakeman will ALWAYS be the "wizard" for me. I literally did years of studying his composigi

  • Hey Look! It is Ray Cooper on percussion! Amazing.

  • lovely

  • it hurts me to see wonderful musicans like Jordan Rudess and Rick Wakeman get old :( they should leave forever so even my grand grand grand children could listen to their awesome music :)

  • @PianoSpoonguard. Rick will live forever in his recordings. His and your great great grandchildren will hear his magnifcent gift forever.

  • And there are people saying that Yoshiki Hayashi is the best.

    lol. that emo shit!

  • Impresionante Wakeman por siempre!

  • I remember a friend of mine at school (now a Professor of Philosophy) but then deeply into Lou Reed and The Cure, borrowing this album from thw school L.P. library, and coming back in the next day, saying how brilliant he thought Rick's playing was. Yup. Couldn't agree more.

  • This is much better to listen to than the 8 track I use to have of this.lol

  • Rick is the best! from Mar del Plata Argentina.

  • Rick has to save himself for us get rid of the jubble...about 4 stones, please Rick we will miss you, please im begging you.

  • Glory to the King!!!!!

  • God save Wakeman! God save Wakeman! God save Wakeman!

  • What was Brian Blessed doing there at the start?!?

  • @EragonFiresword He was the narrator for the 2 concerts, giving a little intro to each of the tracks.

  • he's using a korg m3?

  • Emerson Lake & Palmer meets Liberace :-))

Quite entertaining to hear, but visually, it is somewhat over the top, a bit too much Cirque du Soleil and Las Vegas... Throw off all that pompous smoke screen, and enjoy the music !

  • The best in the worl, great Rick Wakeman!!!

  • Nice comments guys and ladys, but stop the crude words and volger undertones.

Yes Rick Wakeman is a classic Rock and Classical music pianist combined.

  • Richard Clayderman suck it!!!!

  • lol he is king with this clothes

  • A lot of jealous people here posting comments. Anyway Rick Wakeman is AWESOME!

  • what a son of a bitch i have never heard someone who played so good

  • To those bashers, detractors, and generally negative mentally and musically impoverished people - what you're witnessing here are masterpieces performed in an optimum setting by the composer himself. This is akin to a 19th century audience having the chance to enjoy a live performance of Beethoven with an orchestra. Like Beethoven, RW's offering here won't be properly appreciated until long after he's gone. Good for those realize what a gift this is. Pity for those who do not.

  • @Vince1961 knob

  • @Vince1961 Oh. Thanks for the head's up. Luckily my little 11 year-old brain figured that out a long time ago ;)

  • @Vince1961 One could suggest that anyone who would compare this to Beethoven (or any of the classical masters) is mentally & musically impoverished. Jeez, I had this record in the mid-70s, as a teen, when I was into classical-prog-rock and recognized that this was kind of weak. Wakeman did some good stuff with Yes, but this is the precursor to John Tesh.

  • six wives whoopee doo. King of china had six hundred wives.

  • @michbay2072 wow

  • C'mon guys, after this crap version Henry VIII would ask someone to cut Wakeman's head off. Anne Boleyn's husband prefers Keith Emerson and Jon Lord for sure ¬¬

Sorry but this sounds like another Richard... Clayderman :))))

  • Genio!!!!

  • I forgot to say they seem talented at what their doing but I still don't like the song. sorry

  • wtf is this crap. I like all genre of music apart from classical and screeming rock and I honestly don't like this. It Just sounds like some theme tune to some crappy game.

  • Well, wouldn't want to bash Wakeman, but I've seen this one before. Done better.

  • @Los2hero he's like a hundred here

  • the drumer is the great tony fernandez ,he´s with Rick for so many years, and Ray in the percussion what a line up.

  • @talibe801 Since 1975 when he replaced Barney James.

  • We were there at Hampton Court, this was a truly memorable evening!

  • yes ray cooper. usually clapton's band member. About Richard Wakeman, the best ever!! Also he's been to Brasil many times, and I attended some of the concerts, including with his son Adam. He loves football as well. Supperb!

  • Thanks for the upload. On a side note, the name is Catherine Howard....not Kathryn.

  • @Rombizio Actually both spellings of the name are correct.

Vai procurar a banda Calypso e some daqui.

  • old rick can play a mean tune

  • RICK WYCHOWALEM SIĘ NA TWOJEJ MUZIE....TO BYŁY CZASY KOMUNY.

......DZIĘKUJĘ CI ZA TE PIĘKNE CHWILE SPĘDZONE Z TWOJĄ MUZĄ

    ...............................BOGDAN-POLAND

  • wakeman is awesome :D

  • Wow! Wish I could have been there. Pure heaven!

  • oh shit, showing his age on the keys. or is it just sloppiness?

  • @zackgreer he did a great Job -_-

  • Rick is certainly a character. Jordan is awesome, and he's here to stay. But Rick has a style that no other has, and no other will EVER have. There are players, and there are composers. Seldom does anyone come around that is exceptional at both. Rick composes music that only Rick can play. He truly is one of a kind.

  • @ChrisBoylan he is a player -not a composer, this is very common harmonics.

With few exceptions nothing rare or new.But he plays fast if you like fast music.I certainly don´t

  • @ShareTheSphere With very few exceptions, Rick Wakeman releases original compositions of his own writing. This is a performance of a piece he wrote for his first solo album which was released 37 years ago. He most certainly IS a composer. Complexity has nothing to do with it. He likes writing music that's fun to play, and there's never anything wrong with having a good time. And of course, if you don't like this or any other "fast" music, then I suggest that you simply don't listen to it.

  • @ChrisBoylan I watch this becouse I try to find out howcome I like YES and

    really dislike this solostuff.

And you are right -complexity is nowhere to be found.

    Having a good time....uhh?

Well here is something for you to enjoy /watch?v=VAQe9-RKVHc

Actually really the worst thing I´ve ever heard in my life.

  • @ShareTheSphere LOL!! I can't argue with you on THAT ONE!!! I can't imagine where he (and the rest of guys that got credit) was coming from on that piece. Rick did quite a bit for soundtracks, advertising all sorts of stuff. Who knows what that piece was for. Still...

But seriously, Rick sometimes has a very amusing approach to his writing. He was young when he wrote 6 wives and it was almost like a keyboard demonstration since electronic music of the time was very new and experimental.

  • @ChrisBoylan funny enough the intro sounds like a less arranged "morning has broken/cat stevens" and "we are the world"

As I´ve been writng music for 30 years or so I do not get impressed by heavy bombastic arrangements and do not care whether it´s music/instruments "new for that time".It´s what´s on the sheet that matters.I try to find something to enjoy and therefore respect.

I´m nowadays hard to impress because it´s hard to find both heart and intelligence at the same time.

  • @ShareTheSphere I'm a musician as well. I've been playing multi keyboards since the early 70s. I'm also formally trained on piano and organ. I'm only telling you this so that you know that like you, I'm coming from an educated background. If there is anything I've learned in music, is that beauty can come from anywhere. And like all things, it's in the eye of the beholder. Rick's music is unique and brings out emotion. It makes me feel good when I listen to it, which is the very reason I listen

  • @ShareTheSphere ...and I do hope that you're aware that It's Rick Wakeman that played the piano on and helped to arrange C.S's "Morning has broken"

  • @ChrisBoylan So did he steal it or write it?

  • @ShareTheSphere Checked it out..it´s a Christian hymn first published in 1931.

  • @ShareTheSphere Yes, I see you found it. Interestingly enough, Rick was supposed to get paid 10 English pounds as well as credit for his work on the album. He got neither. Only recently (actually 8 years ago, but by comparison...), did Rick finally get credit for his work on the song when the album was digitally remastered and re-released. But I'm pretty sure he never got his 10 pounds.

  • @ChrisBoylan he was sent the cheque but asked it to be donated to a charity on the grounds that he'd been dining off that story for years! True Rick humour.

  • @ShareTheSphere The song itself comes from a Hymn that's over a hundred years old, music and lyrics. The music was only the melody and a very basic chord structure. Cat found it and asked Rick if he would like to play piano on the track. Rick, being musically educated which Cat was aware of, came up with the piano intro (that's repeated throughout the song), and the key change. So Rick is really responsible for the arrangement. There's a lot more to this story which I'll try to find for you.

  • @ChrisBoylan Intresting, -so.. many forces joined together to push that piece of music to the high-spot.

I guess R.W gets a little bit higher rating then,it´s a good song.

  • @ChrisBoylan I detect two people with whom i'd like to join in with and add the view that in terms of keyboards/synths i feel the birth of synth music had a "big 4". Keith Emerson pushed the boundaries of performance and composition, Jean-Michele Jarre took the development of the synth and stretched it beyond human comprehension, Vangelis developed the art of synth/orchestra fusion and Rick progressed the concept of electronic music in an operatic/story telling way with flambouyancy and humour.

  • Hang on a minute, was that Brian Blessed in the first few seconds?

  • @morksbeanbag Yes he did the pre-song narration about each of the wives.

  • "Kathryn" ? (groan)

  • I wanted to see this concert sooo badly, but alas I could not afford to go. It looks like this was SPECTACULAR. I am glad that it was video taped. I've got to get this. Also like the royal robe/cape.

  • Rik is graet as always but but he filming is awful as if everyone else is the star

  • Unbelievable. What a god!

  • At 1:55 that part is meant to be played with an acoustic guitar! What's this? Lol, apart from that I liked it.

Dommage :(

  • Thank you for this video.

  • Essas flautistas são tudo gostosa.

  • who's the other keyboard player?

  • @thesantoshow93 Rick's son Adam.

  • I've known rick for a few years.... he really could have chosen a better patch on that £1200 roland V-Synth GT between 6:50 and 7:37 lol. The guitar lead patch after is a good choice though. Why oh why didn't he use the memotron during the whole concert?! Slap on the wrist for mr Wakeman there :)

  • I was there.

  • Makes me wonder what Henry would've thought? I bet he would've loved it!

  • What the hell is up with the electronic drums? I prefer real drums...And he should have really used mellotron effects like the actual album had, I hate the digital sounds of this performance.....

  • vastly easier to mix in an outdoor environment.

  • excelente

    cada vez me sorprende mas

  • Rick is great? Jordan Rudess can suck wakeman´s crotch !:D wakeman is the best...

  • They are equal technically but different creatively. Rudess is very similar and very different to Rick....

  • Only missing the masterful bass from the incredible Chas Cronk from the original

  • I wanted to go and see this show so much but personal reasons prevented me from seeing it. Great video.

  • Awesome video of Rick he is great but...now Jordan Rudess is the wizzard :)

  • Rick dress this robe because your band partners told him :

When you play you do some stranger movements with your body.

So he is dressed like this to hide his movements.

    Sorry, bad english

  • He´s supposed to be Henry VIII not Father Cristmas or Merlin the Magician although he plays like a wizard

  • I WAS THERE

  • I've always been a hugh fan of Mr. Wakeman, but why he is dressed like father xmas???? Someone please arrest his personal stylish and drop the keys off...NOW!!!!

  • What are you talking about. The cape has always been his signature style.

  • I wonder if he really needs the sheet music.

  • the name of the old bald guy who plays percussion is Ray Cooper - He played in the original album as well

  • I have just ordered the DVD & CD!

  • the greatest keyboarder in Rock!!!

  • And what is it with that old bald guy who plays percussion with lots of classic rockers? It can't be all that hard - I want his job!

  • Rick could use a nip and a tuck

  • EXCELLENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • GREAT RICK WAKEMAN !!!

  • He should release the sheet music again, I´ve been trying to get a copy for years.

  • I went to the Saturday night performance of this concert and was blown away by the setting in the grounds of Hampton Court Palace and the incredible atmosphere of the evening helped by the wonderful, and at times, hilarious narrative of Brian Blessed, well done Rick and co! I will be pre-ordering the DVD asap!

  • What an amazing rig I definatly saw a:

    Korg Oasys

    Korg M3

    Roland Fantom X8

    Roland V-synth GT

    a Memotron

    a few moogs

All of which are my dream keyboards. I'm just waiting for the day Wakeman decides to take a Haken continuum on tour.

  • In the late 80's it used to be Roland D-50, Korg M1, Yamaha V50, Korg T1, Ensoniq VFX, Cheetah, Roland A-80, and Roland A-50. These were always my dream keyboards. Especially, the D-50!

  • I agree this is a dream set up for any keyboardist! I love my Korg M3 and Roland V-synth GT. I was sitting there thinking I know that sound, i played it just a few hours ago haha!

  • It's not a "real" Rick rig until he gets a REAL Mellotron again! He should invest in one of the new M4000s!

  • Wow! fantastic I feel like I'm back there again. The concert and the gathering before and after. A truly memorable day. I've ordered the DVD for when it comes out.

  • beautiful. thanks.

  • Amazing.

  • This is a SUPER performance for the Grumpy old keyboard wizard and a

    great production!!!

We hope you plan to release this in the USA as well.

  • thank you thank you thank you !!!

  • wow...thanks for sharing this video....great music....mbravo

  • Lindo demais!
