I think they need to add Iona- Matthew- The Man to the breakdown music playlist, it is used for Imagesound's system breakdown music- watch my video "The instrumental music that plays in lots of shops"
OK from what has been suggested already plus some guess work I think I see what happened here. The BBC asks for use of the BT satelitte until 11GMT (12BST but they converted it because BT stay on GMT as proved by the time on the BT card), but when BT dealt with this request (I say request as I don't know exactly how broadcasters book bt satelittes) by giving the beeb the satelitte until 11 but they assumed the beebs time was BST and cut off at 11BST (10GMT).
why does the anouncer have to spoil it by taslking just put a sign up for fucks sake
shame that this could not have happened during the bbcs schophantic coverage of the royal wedding or in views 24 the break up their repetive drip of propoganda
lovely incidental music shame about the recent prograame
They should offer a discount on the following years licence fee
the presenter is anoying repeting the same statment in different ways
the whole programme is a pile of crap its not suprise that the monitors gave out
ithe amount of crap the bbc put the telly these days they should have more of these interludes since the background music is better then many other sounds the eminit from whiteicity
"Go and put the kettle on" - haha. The announcer handles this VERY well. Just like one I remember from childhood where the announcer had a laugh in his voice and said 'Whoops!'. Never heard an announcer say whoops before, never heard it again. xD
This was shown live in March 2009 - over a year ago. That chocolate cake will be long past it's best by now. That's assuming it wasn't eaten after the show. If you really want a chocolate cake, I'd suggest you visit your local Asda or similar. Hope this helps.
It reverts to what seems to be a testcard from the local television tower or reception/forwarding-to-cable from BT. To me it'd prove that it wasn't live, since live programming is usually (at least at our local TV station where I work) not connected to clocks - unless the BBC does everything automatically and plans it's live programming in the computer and forgot to change the time credentials.
@daanbrg Good theory, but when they cut back to Something for the Weekend, they definitely make reference to the fact that they've been off-air, so must be live.
That BT bit was scary- and what's with the adverts as well? How I hate BT.

Breakdowns are much rarer these days. I remember when I was a kid (early 80s) it used to happen much more frequently.

They should play Radio 1's latest Top 40 when they play music :P Then you can mute it and/or plug your iPod into the surround sound speakers. xP
Habbloxian 1 year ago
On the BT tower slide, on the bottom left, it still says 10:00 gmt. BT must have forgot to change the time aswell.
Dylanforlife 1 year ago
@Dylanforlife
I don't think BT would change the time. They would run on GMT all year round to avoid confusion, or cause confusion in this case.

if you listen real close, you can actually hear the bbc engineers arguing in the background

They're not BBC engineers. BBC playout is handled by RedBee Media nowadays.

I guess BBC's Engineers drove to the BT tower and helped fix the satellite feeds.

Well, that's the advantage with these Window on the World idents, you get something nice to look at while BBC2 try to repair things.
