I have flown for years, but there was one time in 1986, when the tug operators were on strike, and my B727 used the thrust reversers, to back out of the gate, and I thought that was odd. Only the one time I ever saw a pilot do that. Usually an airliner only starts the engines during push-back.

Some of you guys have zero idea about anything. These comments about using thrust reverse while taxing is hilarious. How is using thrust reverse during taxi dangerous? What is it going to flip the aircraft over lol.

@zseartcc25 For almost all aircraft, the reverse thrusters are only allowed to be deployed when the aircraft is exceeding usually about 60 knots. Otherwise, the (knowledgeable) pilot would use his wheel brakes and idle the engines.

holy shit what did you learn this from FS? You have no idea what you are talking about. MD8X series aircraft, CRJ series, and the Boeing 737 can all deploy thrust reverse below 60 knots with zero effect. Go check out the Aircraft POH. You know know you can deploy the reverse thrust at idle thrust/detent correct?

@MrStrikerable That airplane is using the reverse thrust to brake while taxing.When a plane lands it uses spoilers and reverse thrust but while taxing and not wanting to waste the brakes the pilot may choose to reverse thrust in this type of aircraft.

@captin174 I´ve seen many airplanes using reverse thrust while taxing here in Colombia. The last one I saw I remember that it was a Cessna Citation. I don´t know if it is a FAA rule or it is the airplane manufacturer´s rule but as I said before, I´ve seen many small aircrafts like this one in the video using reverse thrust.
