You can make a S60R. To go with your downsizing-theme, use your trusted 2,5L 5 cylinder turbo, but strap on an extra turbo and a really big intercooler. make it pop and fizz like the Focus RS, but more powerful. Ford has proven that that engine can withstand at least 350hp, so 430 should be a breeze (must beat the germans). Then make some great big spoilers and put on it.

T6 is cool but if they are serious they need to turbo charge that volvo/yamaha v8 and act like they have a pair. Throw in a first-aid kit to add a higher level of safety if you want, just give us a performance V8 car that can be taken serious

do a commercial saying volvo can do anything and show it. offroad, mud, snow, climbing just like old volvo 7-series commercials.
show that this is not just another car, this one can do anything.
create a destruction test, show that this volvo will last just like old boxy volvos.

Simple really! Just advertise on speed channel like acura, bmw, audi, lexus. That's the competition segment! If you want to compete in this segment then you have to go where this customer lives.
6.5 sek do 100 kmh and 304hp - it's not a good result... Audi and bmw needs only 5,2-5,9 sek with 300 hp and more waight!!!

If you want to give us a high performance car, then you should also look at what the concurents are giving. And don't be afraid for loosing comfort, with the 4C Volvo will always be on top. Also, a high performance car doesn't have to give as mucht as comfort as a normal S60
Do a stun on the streets of san francisco, going up hills. Jus tlike when XC60 ads were shot at. Have SFPD clear the streets and safety nets and make the naughty S60 as naughty as possible. Even have a Bay Bridge or San Francisco Landmark. Now that is a great accleration test.
Have a Helicopter to land the S60 on a track flying 100 mph above it, with the S60 already landing at that speed on the road, then shoot off a bunch of german cars with 25mm cannons and missiles, then let drive over a small ramp getting it airbourne and being caught with a hook by the helicopter again then the helicopter "throws" the S60 in the container of the truck. The end.
Build an S60R with at least 350hp! Twin-turbocharge the T6 engine and make sure it gets a big intercooler so warm weather doesn't affect performance as much.
We don't need lots of gizmo's: just lots of power, a manual gearbox option, and a hint of styling and a new R is born!
maybe not an r as such but get polestar to tune the current t6 engine to match audi's s4 or bmw 4.0 v8 i think about 420 bhp would do it dont forget mated to awd :)
I would say a stunt moving out of the truck that is driving 60 mph, and then going with handling curves in a mountain road then going through a busy city . Being chased by cops, let me mention fast cop cars. Then getting into a garage from a fast speed to show maybe the breaks. I agree with hiring Jason Statham. Maybe tease the cops during the chase. the goes to his family after he parked the car, thus driving it make him naught, i dont know.
Make a real R model, 350+ horsepower, better brakes, rims, shocks and a meaner look. You are losing poeple from the brand because R design is only cosmetic, no engine, brake or suspension upgrades... So what is the point? A non R design is just as quick, mabe quicker due to slightly less weight.
@Nefus2 - If you had half a brain cell you would know that Volvos (at least ones for the EU / US markets) are still built exactly where they were before Volvo was bought by Geely.
Just because Volvo have been bought by a Chinese company, does not automatically make volvo a product of china. If I bought Volvo today it doesn't mean that all Volvo production would move to the UK by tommorrow morning.
make driving onto the truck only one aspect of an overall 'obstacle course'. This course could involve a slalom test, wet skid pan driving, brake test, elk... It would give the viewer a better insight to the new S60 dynamic capabilities :)
How come it has to be a semi truck? Why not a cargo plane right before take off...
