TBF the wildcat is nothing like a defender. the old tomcat was basically a landrover chassis with a different body but the wildcat is ground up built with some landrover parts like the dash, headlamps etc

dude, the reason it wasnt selling was because they were charging like 25,000$ for what was basically an english wrangler. anyway, land rovers suck. i bet you didnt know that the lr3 or discovery is just a ford explorer underneath its skin. it has the same interior layout, and the same frame. and they charge $50,000!!! dont even get me started on the lr2/freelander. its literally just a ford escape with leather and real 4wd, and they charge $36,000 for that!!!

the discovery/lr3 is not a ford explorer underneath, its totally a land rover designed and engineered vehicle platform. I belive they looked at or condidered using an explorer base platform but realised that it was now where near good enough to underpin a land rover

like me,i have a bmw 850csi at the moment and i already won with it 20 races on the montreal gp track).Still i am not so sure about breaking down so much cause as i said i had one from 1995 to 2003 and the only brake down i had was the suspension but that was when i drove like an animal in the deep nord and i hit a rock really hard(even hurt my had cause i hit the roof)but if you drove them nicely they will have no problems.

well idk, my friends used it as a soccer mom-mobile. they werent exactly taking weekly road trips to moab. lol. nowadays, i think that its a tough decision. i would personally take the 4runner, i think they have them in canada? anyway, i rented one in the arizona desert last summer. its not too expensive, runs circles around the grand cherokee, and comes from one of the most reliable brands ever. in my opinion, land rovers are overpriced.

yeah my brother has a '03 jeep grand cherokee limited, and it's really nice but put this next to my defender and you can't help but laugh, they're bassicly lifted stationwagons like the X5, ML, Q7, Touareg, and XC90 , and the rear end swims over the road gets kinda uncomfortable after a while, his '98 grand cherokee limited had the same problem, makes you think of an '80s cadillac lol

would that even fit into a catherham? it'dd be cool though, i've had the chance to drive allong in the passenger seat of a Lotus Super 7(the same thing as the caterham) on the Zolder racing track and that thing feels like it's glued to the road, i mean the G's you feel in the corners are nuts, i think if it had a 5.7 v8 that would add alot more weight and effect the handling and brakeing(the super 7 is light as a feather) that's why alot of people put 1.8 peugeot and 2.5 bmw engines in them

also, i have never driven the defender. it was a horrible seller in america, ive only seen one (on the road, outside of movies). i have driven jeeps, but toyota does a much better job with off roading with their 4runner, sequoia, and land cruiser. look them up, idt theyre available in europe, and also nissan (i own a toyota and a nissan) has the pathfinder, the armada, and the mighty xterra, both would run circles around any jeep lol. idk if the landy is a good car, having never driven it.

it wasn't a horrible seller i think a total of 3000 have been imported in '94,'95 and '97 put together, so the reason you've only seen one is because they're EXTREMELY rare in the US, look them up on ebay, a '97 defender goes around $25000 to $50000, so a pretty good investment. Type in "greatest car land rover top gear" here on youtube to clear things up a bit as far as land rovers go.
