Gene harris, the only guy who can play blues march and make it swing hard. It is so unfair he died at 66 y old ! Jazz musician life expectancy is so low ! We miss those kind of jazzmen with real soul. today, Jazzmen are so boring.
Gene was nothing short of 'Genius' as his mastery over the instrument exhibits. Combined with his pure soulful expression for my tastes he had no equal. I observed him in live performance many times and each was an experience as a listener you didn't want to end. Thank you Gene for the inspiration and for having risen the bar SO high for the rest of us who aspire to play this thing we call..JAZZ

Friends, you must purchase his 'Black and Blue' CD. Possibly his greatest album ~ unbelievably funky groove jazz.

His later quartet offerings on CD, with Ron Eschete on guitar, rival anything Oscar Peterson ever recorded, IMHO.
So funky, yet such impeccable taste...
