Ah, Roseanne Roseannadanna and her letters from a "Mr. Richard Feder of Fort Lee, New Jersey." GREAT STUFF!! Back in the great ol' days when SNL had fabulous writers and actors.
@Sarasdad91 well she was married to the man opposite Madelin Kahn in that movie , I am talking about Gene Wilder .. So sad that Gilda and Madelin both died so young at the top of their careers
@Sarasdad91 its amazing how this bunch got together in one show , John Belushi was my favorite ,cheese beger ,cheese berger , cheese berger , no coke only pepsi . thanks for writing .
gee it's been on 35 years and plenty of great funny people have been on since then, like eddie murphy, dana carvey, chris rock, will ferrell, etc, etc.
"thursday i quit smokin. now, im depressed, i gained weight, my face broke out, im nauseous, im constipated, my feet swell, my gums are bleedin, my sinuses are clogged, i have heartburn, im cranky and i have gas. what should i do? mr. fanner you sound like a real attractive guy!"
i just watched the women of SNL special and was dissappointed there wasnt more this. It felt like it was the kristen wiig show with only a minor nod to not only the original women who paved the road for kristen but anyone who was on before K.W. I love love love Gilda. She is much missed
I wish I could find the piece where Roseanne talks about Geraldo Rivera having a boil on his neck lanced....and comparing it to those white chunks you see in luncheon meat. Or when she was at the job interview and the chair squeaked and the interviewer thought she farted. Or the letter she got from the person complaining about cleanliness in fast food, then replied — as she scratched her nose — "Ya Know... You could find worse things on a burger"
The original SNL players were pioneers in comedy. It was crackling and sharp when it was new. There will never be another Gilda. She was sassy and vulnerable at the same time. The Roseanne character is still hysterical all these years later. Gilda, wish you wouldn't have left us so soon.

This is an embarrassment to classic comedy everywhere. She always tried too hard to get a laugh (the goofy hair, the annoying accent) just like the other "not so ready for primetime" players. They weren't ready for any television because they were painfully unfunny. Comedy has improved in 30+ years that's for sure. One episode of "The Office" or one movie like "The Hangover" has more laughs in it than in all of Gilda's career (may she rest in peace)
@legalman1980 You're an idiot. True comedy is just as funny today as it was a hundred years ago. There are different types that come in and out of style, but if it's good and still relevant, there's nothing holding it back. Seriously, get over yourself.
Thanxs for your input...i tried Hulu a little while back, unfortunately we cant access that in Canada...should anyone know where i can get this hilarious clip just drop me a line! Thxs sooo much & best wishes..:)
@udonthavetotellme If you find someone who does, let me know, too. I bought the best of Gilda SNL and - it wasn't....so don't buy it thinking it's on there. My other faves were the one when "Gloria Vanderbuilt had an itch in the woman's room and was bumping up against everything so Rosanna gave her a hairbrush and said, "Here, Gloria - have a field day."...or when the Princess had TP stuck to her shoe in a restaurant.."Hey Princess, are you trying to make me sick?" Ahhh...good times!!
After the last line, she said "You Belong in New Jersey." You wouldn't believe how much I laughed after hearing that.

Gilda was very funny, but let's face it, she took that personality from Madeline Kahn's character in Blazing Saddles.

I hate it when I'll do a Roseanne impression and instead of people grinning in recognition and chiming in, they'll think it's my own comedy.
Show everyone these clips! Gilda can't be forgotten!
And hopefully as the poster below wrote the SNL volume is incomplete, SNL will make a second Gilda volume so all can see her.
