@chavillia He was never locked up 10 years for conspiracy. He was arrested several times and served time off and on for cocaine possession, contempt of court and parole violation. He his had problems like everyone else. However, it's not worth mentioning compared to his legendary body of works. His accomplishments far exceed his mistakes. Thanks Gil.

i am so hurt to know that gil is on drugs. i am 4 yrs. clean now and listened to gil before i started. i always felt that i didn't listen good enough. enjoying the music, but too ignorant to take it in. is anyone sure that this isn't a rumour? i'm hoping it is. however, when yoy spend your life being blessed to have that 3rd eye, like gil, one can feel an overbearing pressure that i guess one would need a release from. if the rumours are true, i hope he gets it together. i love him anyway!

Wow, give or take a note or two that's pretty much the same solo Robbie was playing in there nearly twenty years ago. My god, it's actually over 20 years since I first saw Gil. Great to see Gil back in the game, first saw him at Park West in Chi in 78 but was a fan well before that. Talk about the last performer I EVER expected to have a drug problem. God i hate it. I cannot quit smoking so in a small way I can relate.

Very pleased to see Gordon still on bass, guess it has been a very long time, did not have a beard last I saw him, and it certainly was not grey, early nineties maybe, Gil was late, maybe already into drugs then, but charming and confident. The Cracker

"Minister of Entertainment" as well as Larry MacDonald on congas...those two have been around with him since the early 80's i'm not sure if it was after REFLECTIONS or Real Eyes. i don't have my vinyl handy at work...hell, i dont even have a turn table...just had to pick them up, they're not available on cd domestically. There is no need to insult people--especially when they are correct. Unfortunately, Gil has been arrested several times on crack/cocaine charges. He has admitted it in interviews. As a matter of fact, he was arrested in October. Our brother is struggling right now and needs our help.

I've seen the man 3 times. He's a living legend.

I recorded a concert of his at the Jazz Cafe in Camden in 1999 on my mini-disc with a lapel mic. For what it was recorded on it came out really well. It was an amazing concert. Brian Jackson was there with him, it was an amazing gig in a small venue. When the flute kicks in for Winter In America .. the hairs on my arms stood on end.

Just as Gil's music has been missed so has his political commentary. Keith Olbermann's CSNBC comments are strong on this country's domestic and foreign policies but Gil had his own way to express for the voiceless in this country
