There probably won't even be another movie.The script isn't even finished?Usually if these projects aren't moving faster they never get done.There was supposed to be a movie based on The Talisman by Stephen King & Peter Straub back in the 80s.They even started advertising it and still to this day there is no Talisman movie. The rights to it are still paid for after all these years and there's not even a script for it!
I am against remakes anyway. Studios need to learn to make decent sequels instead of recycled crap we keep seeing. Why should anyone own 2 or more versions of the same movie. Many of you seem to think Billy Bob Thornton is going to take over the role, but that is just a rumor that spread over the net. Nobody has been cast in any role in this film because the script isn't even finished yet.

Freddy defines true, unstoppable, unforgetable fear and Robert Englund is the mastermind behind his power. No one should recreate such classic horror figure especially after so many remakes are already in theaters. The fact is shear perfection for Freddy can only be obtained by the original actor. Too many classic films have been remade horribly and a continuation of Nightmare on Elm St. belongs to Englund. TAKE A STAND, Feddy = Englund and no person/s has the right to change a winning formula.

horror movies like NOES, hellraiser, childs play, saW should not be remade coz the icons are only played by the one actor in every movie. eg robert englund was born to play freddy krueger. same with doug bradley and pinhead, brad douriff and chucky, tobin bell and jigsaw.theyre the only actors that can play these characters and theyre the best. to me, remakes are insults to originals and the cast and crew that made them.

I hoping for of a prequel myself and Robert could still do it because I just can't picture anyone else playing Freddy they could do what they did in Freddy's dead have someone played as a kid the teenager then Rob was the adult. Even when Rob was out of make-up he played he was Freddy and he was more scary I don't mean his looks are nasty. I mean that a nice looking normal guy could be an evil killer.

as was quoted in your video robert said that eventually someone else will have to play him but in makeup he can still do freddy. and i totally agree. however this is not a remake it is a prequel which deals with how fred krueger became the infamous killer he is now. this will involve freddy without makeup. since he is over 60 years old it just wouldnt make since to cast him.

GREAT NEWS!!!!!! NEW LINE CINEMA WILL SOON BE NO MORE. BOB SHAYE IS SET TO STEP DOWN AND THE COMPANY IS MERGING WITH WARNER BROS. SO MAYBE JUST MAYBE THIS FILM WILL NOW NOT HAPPEN.
