  • @a7xwoohoo yeah thanks my graphics card came with an adapter but actually i bought a new psu that has a pci-e power connector

  • @pcworld88 If you go to your local electronics store, you can find adapters that can convert 2 4 pin's into a PCI-E 6 pin connection.

  • Great guide, it really helped me out. But I have a question: some video cards say PCIE 2.0 or 2.1. How do I know what version of PCIE my computer has and are different versions compatible?

  • LOL! There was protective foil on the card's cooler, he didn't remove that. FAIL

  • Turbocache... BARF!

  • Could you guys make an updated version of this? I mean, it's 3 years old now, which is AGES in computer development ^_^

  • @Klimessss Literally nothing has changed, the cards may be better but the installation is the same. Everything in this guide is still true today.

  • @MrU53r look on your power supply. there should be a sticker on it saying out much power it puts out

  • @MrU53r chek the powersupply

  • PINK!

  • "And now you can see, that it's much more secure *wiggles the card back and forth so hard, it's a MIRACLE the card didn't break*

  • "using a screwdriver, remove the side panel"

  • Help! I have an Abit IP43 Motherboard and I want to get a 5850 card. Question is, I'm not sure whether my PCI-E X16 slot is 2.0, so I don't know whether it will support it fully to it's extent. Help

  • is the pci express slot the long white one?

  • Each motherboard has different colours i think. Mines blue. Maybe look up diagrams of your motherboard model, google some utilities to find out the make if you don't know it

  • i got probz i install it. but the Vcrd has no built in fan and the cpu got hot in just 15mins that's why i remove it. any solutions?

  • hi i have 1 simple question.

i got a geforce 9600gt and wanna get a gtx 260. now my question. do i have a 6 pin pci express connector cause i dont wanna open my pc now. does the 9600gt requiere it like the gtx 260?

  • @PS11833 Yes you do. Get a 4890 or 5830 or 5770, not a GTX 260. You get better performance for a better price. Can your power supply even handle any og thouse cards?

  • @faisal2003456 Guess so. Should. I bought this 1 year ago and it was pretty up 2 date at that time

  • can you have 2 graphics cards at once im getting a new 1

and i thought i just pop it in like new ram and it works with my existing 1?

    can u do that ?

  • @iIVIag1c Yeah, if you have 2 PCIe slots at 16x on the motherboard you can. It's called "Crossfire" for ATI and "SLI" for nVidia. Also make sure both cards are compatible with each other.

  • @dunno199 thx and 1 more question

when u put new ram in and u go to system info it doesnt show up right ? because it still says that i got 2 gigs

and i just added 2 more soo i should hve 4 gig but it still says i got 2 ? did i put it in wrong?

  • @iIVIag1c The RAM should show when you turn the computer on. Make sure you've got the correct type of RAM for your motherboard. Just use the same type as your other RAM if you're not sure. If you have then you could try "reseating" the RAM, just take it out then put it back in.

  • @iIVIag1c THx dude now my rams working i just pressed rlly hard and pimp slapped my pc and its working lol :D

  • will a pci e 2.0 card work in a pci e x16 slot?

  • you forgot the MOST ESSENTIAL part. uninstall the drivers of your other card or it wont work

  • I'm pretty sure the most essential part is making sure you actually have a video card. :) Hehe.

  • @ReignzOfBrainz true :P, the second most important thing

  • How about actually having a computer? How about actually making you're still awake? How about making sure you're not dead? :) I get your drift, though. You helped me out, I got a new video card and it wasnt working till I seen your message, thanks my good man/woman? :)

  • @ReignzOfBrainz im a man :D and no problem

  • @ReignzOfBrainz I saw your message**

  • O.O

  • Does it matter if you use the 6 pin from a molex to 6 pin or do you have to have it direct from PSU

  • my grahpics card is 2 gb and memory 1000gb my RAM memory is 8gb

  • do i increase my videocard ? .. or my memory to fast my pc ..

  • @elianduarte More memory.

  • hey uhhhm .. wat should i do ?.. my computer is slow when i am downloading games .. my video card is 32mb .. and my memory is 252mb ..

  • @elianduarte LOL 32mb my 300$ grahpics card is 1gb and my entire mem is 750gb

  • Do you really need the pci power supply? I've seen people that don't use them with video cards that 'need' them, I thought it was just to power the fan?

  • Is it safe to put my video card back in the box until needed, without the plastic bag that came with it? Just put it back in the box like that?

  • I wouldn't risk it.

  • Look how good his cable management is!

  • can some on tell me whats the diffirents of pci expres and pci expres2.0 is it the same and others pci expres with the .0's

  • what case is that?

  • 3:35 didnt know there was a screw no wonder my card pops out from time to time

  • I can watch his videos all day long, he is such a cuttie :)

  • Where do you get a 6pin converter- I have an sr5030nx compaq with a GeForce 9600 gt and I can not figure out where it plugs in, I find the plug in from the card but not to the power supply. please someone answer my inquiry.

  • fsf

  • get a P supply with 6pin connect

  • your video help a-lot thx

  • this is a good video, the manual that came with my 5870 was crap XP

  • Why'd you need a manual for a graphics card? Just plug it in, go to manufacturers homepage and download drivers.. you're done.

  • Just would be nice support to give to customers paying hundred for a card even though they most likely wont need it, just a thought

  • The thing is... it's so easy you don't need support.

  • I know but its something i feel would be nice to have, especially for people on their first build

  • thanks that was a good tutorial :D

  • Thanks man!

  • Perfectly executed walkthrough!

  • thnx

  • why voice is gay? XD

  • nice job dude.you are fast you explain it very well.very nice very nice. thanks for the help.

  • can i get ur old card ?

  • I just installed a GTX 275 FTW in the computer i am building. Everything powered up but there is no video. also the fan is not running. the card itself is on because after a period of time it gets hot. does anyone know what is wrong?

  • probably not enough power

  • i have 850w

  • Then try to send it back

  • Lol neat shirt. And if you are to do this on a carpet what happens?

  • you build up static electricity and create a short which could distoy everthing inside your computer. (not good) To stop this: try to get off the carpet, wear a anti satic braclet (Any computer or electronic store has them) or before you work and while you are working on the computer just touch unpainted metal I.E inside the computer where the motherboard is screwed on. Don't touch the mother board, touch the metal it is screwed on.

  • that box is hugeeeee

  • Yes, but generally, PSU manufacturers underrate their PSU's and video card manufacturers recommend more power than is needed. While I wouldn't suggest it, it is possible to run a video card on a PSU that is *SLIGHTLY* under the recommended power.

  • oh shit, i did mine on the carpet

  • it can be bad if your pc has metal feet you

    are safe

  • @FELIX0123 some people say it matters some people say it doesn't i have fixed mine on carpet nothing happened that i noticed

  • @FELIX0123 r u in heaven ?

  • @FELIX0123

    so did i!!!!

    :)

  • Its on the side of you power supply.

  • What is the +12v rail rated at?

  • He's Canadian :P :P :P pwned!

  • this guy needs to get laid big time

  • is 250 watts good for that?

  • wat

  • 250 watt??????? wtf??? his isnt enough for the 8800gt the minimum is 450 watt and 18a on the 12v rail :)

  • Ok i got a Sapphire 4830 in the mail, i only had onboard graphics (3200), i then installed correctly no power on, pci-e power connector and everything, i turned it on no display, i took it out turned on again.....NO DISPLAy, i have no idea what to do now

  • Did you ever disable onboard graphics?

  • this may solve your proble if you still have it and for other people:

instail you new graphics card normaly, make sure your monitor cable is still connected to your intergrated graphics. logon to windows open display settings and make you new graphics card the default one ENJOY XD

  • where did you get a stock nvidia card? and not a card made by evga of xfx?

  • i get a black screen when i insert my new card(geforce 9400gt) when i remove it,, everything is back to normal. idk wat the problem is and its starting to piss me off >=\

  • you should disable your old graphics drivers before installing your 9400

  • I had the same problem... the solution was the make sure the card fit into the PCI-E slot properly... you will know if it went properly in when you are able to clamp it.... check that once, you'll need to apply a lil pressure to get it fit in

  • lyonis sabastian??? XD

  • HAHAHA hell naw. this niggas name is lyonis XD

  • His favorite color is pink.

  • Nice tutorial. but what up with the pink??? lolololol

  • gosh i can hear the camera man breathing down my right shoulder.

  • shweet gaming

  • i dont have 6 pin shit on my comp... i just have 4 pin's shit!

will it work with that? i got 9600GT ????

  • the card should come with a 6 pin to molex converter. You can use that.

  • lol

  • eheh

  • i have 720 ram... is that good?

  • no.

  • 1) locate Pci-e slot from mobo

    2) check if your chassis is big enough for desired card

    3) check and see if your PSU have enough juices and 6pin PCi-e connector for desired card.

  • Nice tutorial.

  • crikey thats one hela upgrade haha

  • thx man

  • nice shirt brah

  • i need some serious help, the card im planning on getting is pci express but i dont think my motherboard has enough space around the slot to fit it in, what can i do?

  • Simple...

    Get a new damn motherboard.

  • i has a Rosewill Xtreme 950 watt PSU

    Intel Q6600

4gigs of OCZ SLI ready DDR2 800MHZ ram

    EVGA 780i Mobo

    PNY OC edition nvidia 9800GTX

  • mt power supply is 850 and its GLOWS BLUE

  • i have a 850 power supplyu thats GLOWS BLUE

  • first thought: lol pink shirt!

  • I have that motherboard!

  • i just bought an 8600GT 512MB ddr2 PCI-E. i have no issue replacing a video card cause im currently using mobo w/integrated video card.

my main concern is that i dont know if my integrated video card will automatically be disabled if i install 8600GT. or will i have to disable it manually??

    i am running win XP.

  • Can i run this card with a AMD 64 +4000 Socket 939?

  • Can my Pc handle this card? I have:

    AMD64 +4000 Socket 939

1.5 GB DDR 3200 Kingston Value RAM

    600 Watts PSU

    ASUS Mobo A8N-SLI premium

    GeForce 7800 GTX(current vid card)

  • Is installing a double slot card any different to installing a single slot card? Because I'm thinking about getting an 8800 GTX or Ultra and wondering if there's any difference

  • If ur graphics card needs and extra power supply how do u no if ur pc has 1?
