I have an epiphone Materbilt...I play it ore than may martin, collings, and gibson's. I use it to gig with, Fantastic deal on a guitar you can use on the road...and sounds great!
Its not a Yamaha..It is an Epiphone Masterbuilt AJ500RE..AJ= Advanced Jumbo..500 series..R=Rosewood body and sides(not laminated), E=Electric..has the LR Baggs Element Active pick up system.
No tabs man..this was made up as the camera rolled..all improve..this is a basic blues in the key of E..the chords are E,A, and Bmin7..throw in and E7 an Asus4 here and there and just have fun with it.
I think to my ears, the rosewood has more of a balanced tone, a clearer bass response as well as more sound projection. It doesnt sound as "muddy" as mahogany. I think the strings make a differance in your sound as well. Mine came with Gibson Masterbuilt Strings, I have tried several types on this guitar, currantly useing martin marquise, and will go back to the gibsons as they have the best response and really bring out the characteristics of the wood.
I was guided to this video by your reply to someone on the FRET forum. Good to hear. I read a very impressive review in Guitar Player.... I've not played one yet, but EVERYONE seems to love this sweet thing. :) After I finish paying of yet one more guitar, this is next! Giving my FG700 to my brother (he's got a cheap old Alvarez. He once bought me a fender acoustic when I was down and out. Now he is. We can both upgrade now! Keep the videos coming Scotty! And thanks :)
Thanx for the kind words bluestudio67..much appreciated..I would suggest before you buy one of these that you actually try and play a few first..I went through several before I settled on this one..they just didnt have the tone I was after...when I picked up this one to play I knewthe moment I strummed a chord that this was the guitar for me.
I did play it a few weeks back at Goon Center. Then I went down to my locally owned shop and tried some Crafters. I played the TCM035 model (read a few great review on it as well :). The crafter suited my "sound" better and I bought it. I love it. Has the LR Baggs Aura pickup. It's a great guitar. They BOTH are! It was a tough pick! Thanks for the video and advice. My studio is getting more and more complete every month (I have G.A.S.). Have a great day!
Ill see what I can do for ya..it wont be the same exact note for note as this was made up on the spot..It really is a basic twelve bar blues in E maj..chords are E,A and B min7.
I appreciate the comments. This is a great playing guitar with excellant action and sound projection. The vids do not give the tone of this guitar justice.
what about the AJ 500M? Any of you guys tried it out? I am desperate to know the difference in sound between the one you have scott and the AJ 500M....
The more I listen to it the more your right..I was in a Clapton mood at the time,he is one of my biggest influences along with Gilmour...as far as the guitar goes, it is an Epiphone Masterbuilt AJ-500RE..killer tone and resonation unplugged and plugged in..this was shot unplugged. Thanx for the compliment.

Even with old dull strings the sound still has a great projection to it.

P.S. I liked that the epi was all solid wood, the Crafter isn't. Ah well.... consessions are sometimes made! lol

I have this same guitar with the pickup though. I would probably become clinically depressed if anything happened to it.
SufjanStevens420 4 years ago
This the one with the baggs pick up system. I would be in a very bad mood if anything happend to this guitar.
