  • YA ITS TRUE MY POPS IN THE SHIT IN 68 AND 69.. FUK M 16 JAMMED ON HIM AND GOT SOME FRIENDS KILLED M14 STAYED TRUE TO HIM HOW HE MADE IT BACK. SHOOT IN MUD OR WATER SNOW. DIDNT JAM SAME WITH HIS 45

  • @GRANDPAGANJA I guess he lived to raise a kid who has yet to realize how caps lock works.

  • Be awsome if we had these back in WW2

  • @lookatthewholepictur oh yeah!

  • M14 for 50 - 150 meters (forest)

    M16 for 200 - 600meters (desert)

  • @thetrialshot Add m14 with Scope 100-800 meters (desert) , they brought m14 back as a squad DMR didn't they?

  • @Kekkon3n well even US army uses M14 until now

but M16 has more effective range :D

  • @thetrialshot Sure about that? 5,56 has a lot less mass thus less kinetic energy compared to the 7.62x51 NATO true rifle round that the m14 & many other "true" sniper rifles use.. I'm quite sure about this.

  • @Kekkon3n

then tell me why smaller bullet = more stable = more accurate

  • @thetrialshot

    Part I:

It more velocity, than the 7.62x39 AK bullet at least. Meaning it doesn't drop that much in the same range, id figure that aerodynamics are also involved since it's a smaller bullet, it's cuts trough the air better than the AK round that has relatively low gunpowder to the weight of the bullet. The Assault rifle rounds are evolved from cut rifle rounds. The 7.62x51 NATO (m14/G3/m60) and the russian 7.62x54 (pkm/dragunov) have more powder = more speed = more energy..

  • @thetrialshot @thetrialshot

    Part II:

The 7.62x51 NATO shoots at 850 m/s which is only abit slower than the 5.56x45's 900 m/s (AK is left in the dust by its 720 m/s), but the real difference is the kinetic energy.. Since the 7.62x51 is a way heavier bullet than the 5.56x45 it has lots of more energy 3,504 Joules where as the 5.56 has 1,767 Joules. (1J = 1kgm/s). As physics dictate a higher mass maintains it's speed better, also this migher mass is felt on recoil as dictated by Newtons 3rd law..

  • @thetrialshot

That is why I'm pretty sure it has more effective range, although slower, it maintains it's speed better. Just like hitting a baseball vs tennisball.. more "recoil" from the baseball but it goes further even if you hit them both as hard... But as I said I could be wrong, but I don't see any reason why would it have a better effective range..

Quote: "The 7.62×51mm NATO has proved much more effective than 5.56×45mm at long ranges, and has since found popularity as a sniping round."

  • @thetrialshot

Quote was from wikipedia. And have a nice day, It's always nice to have a peaceful conversation online. It doesn't happen too often. :)

  • @thetrialshot wow... just wow....

  • COD IS NOT REAL! STOP TRYING TO COMPAIR THESE WEAPONS BASED ON SOME BOOGER-EATING-NERDS IDEA OF WHAT A FIRE ARM CAN DO!

  • Aside from you trying to argue real world points through a video game.. and aside from you genuinely thinking there is nothing wrong with that... You are wrong on all counts. I truly hope that you are just a horrid troll, and not actually this ignorant. Gain some life experience, or at the very least read a book, before you try to argue any point which you may deem valid in the future.

And again.. please try not to procreate.

  • how?! you cant come up with a defense! cuz you know im right fag

  • M14>M16

  • Folks, several enlisted men received more decorations than Col. Hackworth. As Col. Hackworth explained, decorations given to enlisted men are more credible than those given to officers.

Col. Bob Howard was an enlisted man when he undertook the actions for which he received several of his decorations.

Chesty Puller and Audie Murphy served in WWII but not Vietnam.

  • Wow, all this internet debating over 7.62 and 5.56... the biggest issue with the M16 is the current ammo. M855 was designed to counter Soviet body armor. The Hajees don't wear armor so the round tends to pierce through in a pin hole. The steel core does not fragment the way the old M193 did. All these "stories" of people getting hit many times and walking away are pure BS.

  • @therocktant wow? yes indeed that was a "freakin' m-14"........learn your guns kid.

  • @amrfukyah gtfo out of here kid, go play your crappy cod games and stay the fuck away from real gun vids, the m14 is better in alot of ways.

  • that gun sucks the m16 is way better in call of duty!!

  • @AmRFuKYaH can i watch ONE video on a rifle, and NOT see a god damn COD reference?? ONCE.. holy shit.

  • @CrimsonOmen407 idk can ya? dude especially in call of duty black ops m14 sucks compared to m16, m16 is fully auto retard! an m14 cant compare

  • @AmRFuKYaH no i cant apparently, and its really annoying.

and the M14 is amazing, you just suck.

  • @CrimsonOmen407 m14 is older so its worse

  • @AmRFuKYaH LOL GOD your stupid

  • @AmRFuKYaH LOL

  • @AmRFuKYaH Actually the M14 was a select-fire rifle. Plus, only retards who waste ammunition use full-auto over ranges.

  • @naedanger123 then why do they give our army machine guns? are they dumb for being the strongest?! all m14s i see are semi at least the new ones

  • @AmRFuKYaH maby they like it better as a sniper weapon but thats just my opinion.

  • @AmRFuKYaH u sir are either very funny, or are a jackass. prob the latter

  • THAT WAS NOT A FREAKIN M-14

  • Are you slow, or just stupid? Honest curiosity...

Please direct your attention to comment #1, before posting here again. And.. Try not to procreate, please.

  • @TheRockant uhmm.. explain.

cause that most difinently IS an M14.

if your thinking its not cause its full auto, during Vietnam, it got upgraded to better fit the situation

  • hmm i always thought 7.62x51 NATO was the counterpart to the .308 WIN

  • simplestuff31 sorry but its 7.62x54 for 308 not 7.62x39 unless your using an ak47 as a long range warfare not even close to the 308 sorry my man but good info on ballistics an powder charge differences

  • sorry but youre wrong .308 is 7.62x51 not 54 and i was talking about the .308 and 7.62x39 being the same diameter

  • Psssst... 7.62 x 51 is mil. version of .308 winchester. 7.62 x 54 is a commy round.

  • He said .308 is 7.62x54 but it is x51

  • The m-14 is better than the ak and the m-16.

  • I just jizzed in my pants.

  • and another great rifle that should have gone further than it did. some may argue the merits of the merits of its cartridge vs its replacement, but even a child knows that 30 is bigger than 22

  • yeah except the gun couldnt be shot full auto because it flew all over the place. thats why the description says "controlled". its good for a sniper rifle though, and they still use them in iraq/afganistan whatever

  • The AK47 is the ultimate "people's rifle" meaning untrained peasants if you want to be honest. Untrained folks tend to "spray and pray" so they rarely hit anything beyond 100 yards. Poor accuracy at 200 yards is not an issue. If peasant armies need to shoot at 200 yards they use other rifles with real riflemen.

  • The most decorated officer of the Vietnam era, Col. David Hackworth, wrote that he NEVER heard of an enemy soldier using a captured M16. Hackworth allowed his men to use captured AKs; he also traded them to other US outfits for supplies. He complained to his superiors that the M16 would kill many American boys by jamming; they laughed at him for caring and told him to buy stock in Colt. "Hack" was known as the best battalion commander in Vietnam but later turned against the war.

  • @Skeptic121 I could be wrong, and I will be sure to confirm whether I am or not at some point... But your history may be a bit off. I believe that Col. Bob Howard, was the most highly decorated of the era. I further believe that he is the most highly decorated soldier.. of all time.

  • @Verbickas - I knew Col Howard and you are correct. Most decorated...of all time.

  • @Verbickas - I knew Col Howard and you are correct. Most decorated...of all time.

  • @Verbickas cmh, 2 dsc, several silver and bronze stars, 8 purple hearts

  • @Verbickas I think Audie Murphy got the decoration thing covered.

  • @Skeptic121 Has any one here ever hear of Chesty Puller, or Audie Murphy. Audie has held the title of the most decorated soldier of all time for quite a while now, but I have been told that Chesty had one more decoration than Audie.

  • @Skeptic121 the VC or NVA always picked up m16s and other weapons off dead yanks in vientam!

  • @HavocProductions1943 Hi! Did you and Hack serve together or were you there after Hack left in 1971? Given his record I tend not to think he was lying... Do you mean you saw dead Americans (and ARVNs) stripped of their M16s OR did you actually CAPTURE or KILL VC who were in the act of using a captured M16?

I can imagine VC taking M16s to document their kills, even if they would never USE them. Communists are always compulsive record-keepers, as Hack himself used to his advantage!

  • @HavocProductions1943 i had 3 uncles in vietnam at the time fighting in the AIF(australia infrantry force) and they said they sometimes were in fire-fights with the yanks (americans) and a few would drop and they would come back after theres no more shooting they would find the weapons gona or smashed

  • AK-47 is virtually indestructible, and it's the most popular and successful weapon in the world. Accuracy isn't always great and it's got a large recoil, for an assault rifle. Personally, I'd prefer an M14 over it because of it's power and accuracy. Accuracy is extremely important because by the time someone gets close to shooting you, they'll already have a bullet in their head.

  • US Army 65-68. I much prefered the M 14 to the toy M 16. Nice sights windage included. Very durable. The AK was loose and poorly machined but indestructable. Loved the 14 though!

  • Call the M-16 a toy but it has performed outstandingly in combat for over 40 years and probably for another 40. The M-14 is an amazing rifle but the M-16 is a little better with a strait body to compensate recoil and the smaller round you can carry more and the bullet is just as powerful because the back of it tumbles forward after hitting the target while the tip virtually stops causing it to tear at the insides of its target. YUM

  • hahahaa. yeah the 5.56 is as powerful as a 30-06. thats a joke right? i personally know a few soldiers, they have numerous stories of pumping 3 round burst into the enemy and that still doesnt stop them. The 5.56 is not a man stopper like the 30 cal round. And i dont know if you can even say the m16 models (m4, m16a1 etc.) have performed outstandingly. they are accurate but not reliable.

  • if he put a three round burst in one of them they will go down he mustve missed with one/two of them. and the ballistics of the 5.56 are actually better then a 7.62x39 which is 308 caliber and it does what i said it hits and tumbles in the body and rips internals.the m16 and m4 actually are very reliable. the colt m4 is the only arm in its class that meets all the requirements of the military and it has an improved mechanism that jams less and 96% of jams with it are 10 sec or less or in the mag

  • ask anyone who knows a lot about the ballistics of those two rounds and they will tell you that anywhere 100 yards and closer the 7.62 x39 has way more of a punch than the 5.56. they have there trade offs. The 5.56 has accuracy and range, the 7.62 has brutal stopping power.

  • Inside one hundred yards the 5.56 is travelling so fast it litterally hits and falls apart and tumbles causing major internal damage and is very wide on the expansion of force. The 7.62x39 hits and goes strait through causing very little damage on top of what the bullet itself does. I have personally seen ballistic gel models of both rounds and the damage from the 5.56 if much much wider.

  • @SimpleStuff31 You are being a bit vague. What ammunition was used in the tests? M855 would not have quite the devastating effects that you are referring to at less than 100 meters. Many commercial rounds, however, would.

  • It isnt as simple as that. The fragmentation effect of the 5.56x45 isn't consistent. It's very velocity dependent. There is no magic round.

  • at close range it consistently fragments and at long range it tumbles so no matter what range it will do considerable damage.

  • I read that fragmentation would vary even from bullet to bullet. Out of short barrels like the M4, the 5.56x45 fragments very poorly.

  • 3 round burst into people? Your "friends" are lying, or just plain poor marksmen. Anyone in any service knows 3 round burst is not meant to fire directly at anyone, its used for cover fire, only. I can put more rounds down range much more accurately and nearly as fast with semi auto. The 5.56 is very fast and accurate within 300 meters.. past that, it looses effectiveness. the 7.62 is more a man stopper yes, but better just depends on your mission.

  • yes 3 round burst. the particular marine said he was entering a building and they were clearing rooms. he had full auto on his m4 selected and they shot 3 rounds into a man and he kept firing back. a soldier near him was hit in the vest

  • @wrestler950zoey Alright gentlemen, let's not confuse ourselves. You can not compare 5.56 and 7.62. These are just dimensions. Have you any honest idea, the myriad of ammunition types there are within those dimensions? You can not possibly argue ballistics of one over the other without being more specific. And you are also arguing two different things. One, talking about Fragmentation, and the other - foot-pounds of terminal energy. Learn Physics.

  • @Verbickas Very correct. I never make it my business to argue about 5.56 vs 7.62. There is no point. They are two completely different animals (if you like) and cannot be compared nor can one replace the other. They are better suited to different tasks.

  • @sgtcrab1 The M16 was indeed a toy in your era. With modern technology, it has advanced into something far more accurate. The M16 DMRs that our Unit produces are capable of holding, in most cases, 1MOA. Which is nearly unheard of, outside the realm of so called 'sniper rifles'.

  • i love M14...

  • are m14 teens as reliable as ak 47??

  • In my opinion it is way more accurate, has more stopping power and yes in certain times it is more reliably than a ak47. I own a m1a or m14 and is hands down my favorite rifle next to the m1 garand

  • Nothing beats the AK but an M14 is a extremely durable and reliable weapon!

  • WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? M14 beats the AK by a country MILE!

  • We were discussing reliability... retard

  • well then they're about even. they're both built like tanks. they DON'T jam.

  • m14 does.. bigger heavier bullet.. more accurate and more range than the ak.. m14 is also more multipurpose.. can be used as an infantry rifle or a used as a DMR and is used in other countries as a support automatic rifle. the effective range of an ak47 is around 400 yards while the m14with a scope with the heavier .308 bullet will reach 800 yards

  • Yeah, but I was talking about the kalashnikovs reliability and durability. That beats the M14. But the M14 has very good reliability and durability compared to other weapons today. M14 is overall superior to the Ak of course. Like you said the range of the ak is very limited.

  • The AK47's action was based of the Garand action. The M14 is the evolution of the M1 Garand. The M14 is just as reliable as the AK47 but with a better round.

  • You are actually wrong. The M14 is VERY reliable, but the AK-47 beats it.

  • How does the AK47 beat the M14?

  • In reliability and durability. Don't get me wrong though! The M14 is awesome in these areas as well. The M-14 is my personally favorite rifle of all time!

  • People think the AK47 is impossible to jam but I saw one jam 3 times in a row and fail to feed at the shooting range.

  • maybe the ammo is china made ?

  • Do you believe that any of these other viewers know what a DMR is? Without employing Google, that is.

  • I've heard experienced vietnam vets say that they work through mud, sand, salt-water, and dirt.

I don't know about rust though... But, honestly, any soldier who can take care of an M16 can probably take care of an M14, so I think it's safe to say that they're definitely more reliable than an M16, but I wouldn't go so far as to say they're as reliable as an AK-47.
