    Nice to know you're safe that a metal cage and what might turn out to be a faulty smoke alarm may turn your house into a raging inferno.

  • BBC1 stopped closing down for the night in the autumn of 1997 - they started handing over to BBC News 24 for the wee small hours! Nice to see a Public Information Film - didn't realise they'd been showing those again in the 90s, but I do remember BBC1 showing PIFs before closedowns in the late 80s!

  • @thegoodcocklife I thought exactly the same thing. I was 9 when this used to happen - I thought it only happened in the 70's.

  • i think through it was 1997 you can tell they was a few old American stereotypes that they use today left of what they say we are like in Britain about are posh theme and them old suits and mustaches like john ketty but i think we can safely safe by now it is all gone
