When I grew up, there was a short program between Saturday morning cartoons called "Schoolhouse Rock." It had different songs about math, grammar, government, etc. That was how I learned the Preamble to the Constitution. Thirty-five years later, I still know the Preamble because of that short song. I think they should put "Schoolhouse Rock" back on TV. You can order it on VHS or DVD, but it would teach children a lot of important information, like the Preamble to the Constitution.

The principle is: through force and fraud property is taken from those who produce it and given to those who do not. @cunamarra We have the reality of history to deal with. Piss-down economics has been in place for 30 years now, and all it's done is sink us into a deeper and deeper hole. Those who make the most, also use the most -- asking them to pay their fair share of that is not "stealing", it 's expecting them to pay for what they utilize. For example, my car doesn't cause as much wear and tear on the roads as all of the trucks of a major retailer -- therefore I should not pay as much for those roads.

They take about 20% right off the top of the "health care" dollars. Their profits will be reduced a little by the bill so they are very opposed to it.

Socialized systems can have merit pay and promotion based on effort. Public schools systems can be an example of this. Countries that have gone with socialized medicine have not gone with a system of pay independent of results. There is also quite a lot of evidence that high pay does not motivate quality. Look at hedge-fund managers to see.

Gains are made by creating wealth through the activity of your mind and effort. And the reality is that we have too many in this country who think they should get the whole pack, but only pay for a stick because that's all the guy who has less is paying for. And THAT makes them a parasite. The more you have, the more you use, and the more likely you are to need government-run services -- so you should contribute more to them.
Explain why, the people who work on the assembly line, and PRODUCE should get less for their own labor than a guy who sits behind a desk does? If the worker on the line is paid $20/hour for their labor, but the guy at the top makes $30/hour on it, do you really not see a disparity there? If the actual workers actually got 70% of the value of their own labor and 30% went up the chain to those higher up, those higher up would still be wealthy, just not so disproportionately so.
@placidair It depends on what he is doing behind that desk. If he is busy passing legislation that abridges trade or production he is destroying wealth. If he is organizing production in such a way that it operates more efficiently and produces more than it was before, he is worthy of his pay. Supply and demand effects pay but in general a worker needs to generate about four times his pay to justify that pay regardless of his position.
From 1980 to 2005, more than 80% of the total increase in American income went to the top 1% in the country - so while they were killing jobs, they were reaping in tons of money. In fact, some of that income CAME from killing jobs and pocketing the "savings".. as well as shipping jobs overseas. Such plunder and it's long-term negative effect on the economy is apparent. Yet many blame government and defend those who did such from being taxed on their ill-gotten gains. self-destructive Idiocy.

We have been Socialist since the day the Constitution was signed. In a truly Capitalist society, we would have only private schools, and access to public education would not exist. Also, in order to pay for roads the government would not pay for it through your taxes YOU would pay for it directly at a convenient little toll booth outside of your house. Also, our military would not exist, for the people would not be taxed to pay for their security, this general welfare.

When I grew up, there was a short program between Saturday morning cartoons called "Schoolhouse Rock." It had different songs about math, grammar, government, etc. That was how I learned the Preamble to the Constitution. Thirty-five years later, I still know the Preamble because of that short song. I think they should put "Schoolhouse Rock" back on TV. You can order it on VHS or DVD, but it would teach children a lot of important information, like the Preamble to the Constitution.

The principle is: through force and fraud property is taken from those who produce it and given to those who do not. There are producers who are both rich and poor, and non-producers who are both rich and poor. When pushing your form of "welfare" don't forget the subsidies and protectionist policies for nonproductive rich.

@cunamarra We have the reality of history to deal with. Piss-down economics has been in place for 30 years now, and all it's done is sink us into a deeper and deeper hole. Those who make the most, also use the most -- asking them to pay their fair share of that is not "stealing", it 's expecting them to pay for what they utilize. For example, my car doesn't cause as much wear and tear on the roads as all of the trucks of a major retailer -- therefore I should not pay as much for those roads.

The lenders did not have trillions in goods and services saved up to lend out. They merely wrote on a piece of paper that the producers of that wealth now owed them. That is theft through the mechanism of fiat currency. That stolen wealth funds countless pet "welfare" projects to include those for the rich

They take about 20% right off the top of the "health care" dollars. Their profits will be reduced a little by the bill so they are very opposed to it.

There has been a steady disinformation campaign over the years to build up a false story in the minds of voters. Try googleing on "the two santa claus theory" to see another example. I wonder sometimes if half these people even know what socialism is, and for those that don't, it's a philosophy of sharing wealth, technology and resource amon everyone based on how much they put into society, giving everyone a much more equal chance like the constitution would have it. Capitalism on the other hand, hoards wealth into a very small area and relies on exploitation of the less fortunate, it's the most unconstitutional thing to ever sully America with it's presence.

Socialized systems can have merit pay and promotion based on effort. Public schools systems can be an example of this. The fairest way to fund a government is to tax those who gain the most from its existence to fund it. For this reason property taxes are one of the right ways to fund the government. To do otherwise is to transfer wealth from the have-nots to the haves. The rich want to have all the benefits of a modern society but not pay for it.

Explain why, the people who work on the assembly line, and PRODUCE should get less for their own labor than a guy who sits behind a desk does? If the worker on the line is paid $20/hour for their labor, but the guy at the top makes $30/hour on it, do you really not see a disparity there? If the actual workers actually got 70% of the value of their own labor and 30% went up the chain to those higher up, those higher up would still be wealthy, just not so disproportionately so.

If he is organizing production in such a way that it operates more efficiently and produces more than it was before, he is worthy of his pay. Supply and demand effects pay but in general a worker needs to generate about four times his pay to justify that pay regardless of his position.

@BradLauber Conservatism has existed in America from the day of founding. Those who don't know the views of the founders should go read up on them. They were great men having debates about important issues. Be careful to read real histories of them. There are many books written with a huge bias. The views of Adams and Jefferson and their political debates are very instructive.
King Charles-1 of england is also worth looking up to understand conservative history well. Ideas start places.
