Eragon Wars

There only seems to be similarities between the movies since the Eragon movie left out nearly 90% of the book, so all the development and characterization and details were left out. We were stuck with the bare minerals, thus the similarity to Star Wars and pretty much every myth.

Eragon simply follows the "Hero with a Thousand Faces" template, which by the way, Star Wars also follows.

but i think that's what makes the books so awesome... that sort of subconscious realization that Eragon is what you get when you mix LOTR and Star Wars together, in that order. When you mix Star Wars and LOTR together, i think you get Dune... maybe.

Seriously. The plots in Eragon and Star Wars are almost identical. Eragon=Luke, Brom=Obi-Wan, Durza=Darth Vader, Arya=Leia, Galbatorix=Sidious, and Dragon Riders=Jedi, both of which were mostly killed off by Galbatorix/Sidious.

I would say that Durza is more akin to Tarkin than Vader. Vader would probably be Morzan and or Murtagh (Though I'd say there could be attributes of Count Dooku and Han Solo respectively in both of them as well)

Last half of minute 3 wins. While watching that Eragon scene I screamed "I FIND YOUR LACK OF ORIGINAL IDEAS DISTURBING!!!!" at the top of lung.

That woke up my dad and he beat me unconscious. Thank god, it was a good excuse for not watching the rest of the movie.

Just watched Eragon and I was like "wtf, I should make a clip with the Eragon footage and Star Wars sounds", but I decided to check YouTube first because I couldn't believe I was the only person who had this feeling :P

You hit it right on the nail. In 90% of the scenes you used I had EXACTLY the same SW quite in mind :D
