  • un truc de barjo ça

  • czemu nic nie idzie?

  • What are the machines that look like "little cars?"

  • heh...someone should do a metal version...

everybody ready for a picnic in the jungle?

  • You know, I really prefer the Icky Flix version of this song.

  • I'm sorry guys, try as I might, I can't like their music. It's just too creepy. I like their creativity and costumes a lot though.

  • Ehhh its just not creepy to me for some reason but everyone i talk to says it is.

  • Wonderfully sssstrange... I'm slappin' at the mosquitoes already...(zzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZzzzzz)

  • i'm ready for a picnic in the jungle

  • Well, obviously not everybody is ready for the picnic in the jungle.

  • this video is obviously a symbollic allegory expositing the dehumanizing day to day life of urban socioeconomics...i mean...obviously

  • obvious socioeconomic observation is obvious..

  • No, it's about war, torture and imprisonment. The Vietnam war, to be exact. Look at the palm trees and the burning napalm and the silhouetted soldiers running past the camera.

"First they take away our clothes

Then they lay us down in rows

Is everybody ready for the picnic in the jungle?"

  • I am the owl

    I'm good with a trowel

    I'm a constant gardener

    a very attentive partner.

  • Actually, it's about Jim Jones and the slaughter of his followers in Jonestown. All the images fit.

  • Wow, really? I always thought it was about the experience of being in a hospital for an extended amount of time. Thanks for the illumination!

  • @nicademus666 I figured it was based on the horrors in the Vietnam war, But that actualy makes alot more sense :o

  • @nicademus666 Please elaborate as I fail to see any connection. Even when searching for something metaphorical I still fail to find one other than the 'jungle.' Many of The Residents songs have an allegorical theme; as an example, Hello Skinny is obviously a not so subtle reference to heroin use.

  • @bigcoldmartini Research the entire story of The Peoples Temple, Jonestown, etc... and Hello Skinny could also be about speed...

  • This is my all-time favorite Residents production...hmmm...what does that say about me? :P

  • I remember a video of theirs where I think it was a little kid put into a fireplace or something by an old man. It kept looking like the old man was going to hurt the kid, but never did. Wish I could remember what it was called! Creepiest thing I ever saw!!!!

  • That may have been 'Renaldo and the Loaf'

  • Yup- that was it! Thanks Snuju. It was interesting how I remembered the oven being a fireplace, lol.

  • Ha! I was just visiting that one!

  • anyone else think this song/video makes no sense at all? i'm not saying it sucks...just doesn't make sense to me.....what's it supposed to be about? for some reason...cannibal africans come to mind when i listen to this...

  • Finding direct meaning in stuff by the Residents is like nailing jello to a tree.

  • Which I love.

  • if the jello isn't made yet you can nail it to the tree in a package. anything is possible with the wonders of science.

the residents make sense within their own pyramid scheme.

  • ▼

  • the Residents are eating my brain!!

  • i think iv seen this on top 100 worst videos in some magazine. all their drum beats are in March Meter

  • oh no!!!! the amateurism!!!!

  • from which album is this song?

  • Our Finest Flowers.

Remixes of some of their best songs. And by remix i dont mean they just added techno elements to the songs. Its really brilliant what they did.

  • its a cover from snakefinger

  • It's not Les... My friend and I used to joke about that too. Is Les from Louisiana? Anyways, the lead singer appears in many of the interviews posted on youtube. If you know the residents, you can recognize his voice immediately.

  • YEAH THE RESIDENTS

  • this is that kind of rare music that makes me relaxed

  • Just found that guys and already loving them!

  • & I'm just finding about about these guys now!?

  • no, that's right. they did music for a couple episodes. i know one of them is the pee wee in space episode but i don't remember the others.

  • Is it just me or doesn't this remind you alot of Pee Wee's Playhouse. Just the weird music and the animation just seems like something from Pee Wee's Playhouse. It's a good song, and I like it because it's an actual song, not just some minute long instrumental or something.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think The Residents did some work on Peewee's Playhouse.

  • yeah they did the music for the show

  • They did music for 5 episodes:#201 -- Remodeling the Playhouse #209 -- Playhouse in Space #210 -- Pajama Party #302 -- The Dentist #503 -- The Playhouse Newspaper

    Don't leave out Mark Mothersbaugh.

  • Primus admits the Residents are one of their biggest influences. (It's pretty much the one source for Claypool's vocals.) Residents vocals over King Crimson but dorkier = primus.

  • ever see Les Claypools hosting of MTV back in the early 90's. He played a few residents and snakefinger videos.

  • I have entertained a long running theory that Les Claypool is one of the members of The Residents. For their career spanning (40?) years they have maintained complete anonymity.

  • I doubt it. Les is way too young.

  • Yeah... I don't really think he could be, but you gotta admit the vocals are similiar! I think it is much more likely that Les was inspired by the Residents. He does mention The Residents in at least one Primus song and there is a Primus cover of a Residents song.

  • He's done a few covers.

Hello Skinny, Constantinople, and Sinister Exaggerator come to mind.

  • Afterwards, it's like a dream You can't remember but it seems To stay alive inside your mind And prey upon your leisure time It happens in an open spot The air is sticky and it's hot First they take away our clothes Then they lay us down in rows A cloud appears and melts away The flesh of some while others stay Machines that look like little cars Consume the bones and count the scars
  • spooky stuff...

  • I don´t feel like listening to primus anymore after this!

  • There's a video on youtube of Primus covering their song Hello Skinny.

  • asd asd lol

  • rotfl "death metal 70s style"... No comment.

    It's really great!

  • Fantastic!

  • Dazamaru thinks he has this band sussed as mediocre, and Residents fans are suckers who want to like the music because they think it makes them look clever, knowing and special. He thinks he is more clever as he can see right through this and wants everyone to know. He also enjoys the attention he gets by being provocative. He also has big boils on his arse and a lobster claw instead of a foot.

  • im making a movie about a guy with lobster claws for hands

  • Dazamaru always watch the residents's videos.... Come on dude!! if you wanna see something that you like, don't see these videos

  • Do you really not love their creepy videos?

What do you enjoy, Dave Mathews? Jessica Simpson?

And check out Haunted Pussy for some creepy stuff, though most of their videos are just live chaos.

  • Dave Matthews and Residents fans are not mutually exclusive.

  • Where I'm from, they definitely are!

  • what do both bands have in common?

  • they both are quite terrible

  • death metal 70s style

  • Pretty sure this is the same one I saw in late '70s on local TV station. Sis and I were so creeped out by it! I remember more color though. Pre cable TV days.

  • Downright Spooky! Different from the Snakefinger version, but a very cool treatment.

  • GAY!

  • wena

  • guitar solo in this song is one of the best ever

  • Thanks, Casanovabob, I needed that!

  • There's something primaevil about 'The Residents', hypnotically enticing.

    caliban

  • the snakefinger original is infinitely better

  • This is Scary...0_0

  • YEAH!!!

  • "don't forget to eat"

  • Straaange Dreeeeammm

  • Now I'm Hungrey!

    Zed Likes!

  • Awsome! The Residents rules!!

  • Residents videos are like the strange dreams I had as a kid. Am I normal?

  • I too can relate to the dream thing as well. I'll tell ya more if you reply to this.

  • As a kid I once dreamt I was flying in a deep blue sky with shadow people. How's that?

  • I dunno. My dreams involved the band's gimmick with the tuxedo clad eyeball heads...this was before I even heard of these guys.

  • Oh yeah? Well, I had this dream where I was waken up a smashing sound, and I saw that a large rock fell through my window. Investigating the rock another one smashed through the window, looking outside more and more rocks were falling from the sky. After a while the heat increased [literally] and a HUGE comet was falling towards the Earth. On impact a blinding white flash covered everthing, and then I woke up.

  • su fucking perb
