Cool film, wonder if that monster that eat the boys hat wanted his top and jeans form main course and desert ,Nice film thou , they don`t make them like that any more.
This might be weird, but when I was little, I thought since that monster made eating a hat seem so tasty, that it really must taste good. So I chewed on one, tasted like sweaty cardboard hahaha.
What a beautiful film - real classic from the 80s. I enjoyed Flight of the Navigator more than E.T. Joey Cramer showed brilliant acting. I loved character Max and his sense of humour. It was great to see amazing and so talented Veronica Cartwright.
The aliens are the coolest!! I haven't seen this movie in AGES!! To bad they never made a sequel or even a series. It would have been cool if they went to some of the planets they visited. What do you think?
Funny on how one thing looks like a live rice krispy treat crawling in a puddle of snot while the eye sounds like Xena Warrior Princess. Talk about cosmic shit!
A comet could very well destroy a planet. It's not some slow moving meteor, those suckers get some high velocity on them, and if it hit dead on to a planet, nothing would survive, even if the planet remained intact. Let us not forget the one that hit Jupiter left a mark bigger than our own planet.
4) what was the makeup, geologically speaking, of the comet and planet?
5) was the planet destroyed in the sense that it was totally broken up, knocked into an unstable orbit, or simply caused a mass extinction like with the dinosaurs (wherein most if not all lifeforms were wiped out)
Actually, CGI was used in this movie. The ship when it changes shape, for instance. Also, the ship when it was moving may have been done in a computer, even. IIRC, this movie ws the first use of "environment mapping", which allowed reflections from a surrounding real scene.
This scene is responsible for my some of the "micro creatures" in my art. I loved this scene as a kid...I often had nightmares about the creatures in the tanks.
lol not just a toy they should make a full size ship like this you can really fly in but thats not possible, you would need antigravity boosters or something and there would be lots of UFO sightings
Some of the same puppeteers for Max and those other creatures were also the same guys behind the puppet work for Johnny 5 and the other robots in Short Circuit, which was released into theaters two months before this movie.
because of this movie I say "weird" just like David does in the movie, in that long weee-eard sort of way

a whole planet wouldn't be destroyed by a comment
quidproquo2004 2 years ago
I guess it would depend on a few things:
1) how big is the planet?
2) how big is the comet?
3) how fast was the comet traveling?
4) what was the makeup, geologically speaking, of the comet and planet?
5) was the planet destroyed in the sense that it was totally broken up, knocked into an unstable orbit, or simply caused a mass extinction like with the dinosaurs (wherein most if not all lifeforms were wiped out)

Mr Paul Reubens himself. In the credits there is an error and it says Paul Mall. That's strange.
